Metallica is essentially a two piece garage punk metal band - James and Lars. That’s how all the classic 80s stuff was written and demoed. The solos and bass are added after to beef up the sound and improve it. But all their stuff works as a two piece outfit because James is such a brilliant rhythm player and he and Lars are such brilliant writers and arrangers.
I don't think so. A lot of harmonies, themes and mostly the Master of Puppets climaxes were introduced first from Cliff!! You clearly listen to his influence. Jason then wrote a lot of cool riffs, such as Kirk and Robert. Lars is mostly an a&r for the band, he's a big marketing expert and he can tell how something can be a hit or not, actually we can say that his drums parts are added to beef up the sound

That rhythm under the solo in Battery is so hard to hear on the original recording. I had fits with the timing back in the day before the internet came along and provided some insight. 🤣
Had this playing in the background and as I have heard pretty much all of these I didn’t really stop UNTIL the disposable heroes part, I had never heard that before and I definitely did a “hol up, what the fuck was that” at 6:42
I absolutely love videos like this. I will admit because I've heard the songs so many times you slowly hear certain things you never heard before so most of these I could pick up a riff just under the solo and it's cool to have something like that.❤️❤️🔥🔥
@@Pirustaethe 3:30 indication that i speak is in the song Freyends of Sanity, when they have around 3 minutes (from around 3:30 until the 6 minute of that song) of some of my fav Metallica Riffs.
Nice list i think this is why 5 of these songs are in my top 10 MetallicA. The rhythym guitar work by james is so crazy. Combine that with a fucking kickass solo and you get why MetallicA is the best.
That part in Blackened at 3:20 sounds like something from To Live is to Die; that part when it’s winding down right before James says, “When a man lies…”
@@Ryu_Akethe rhythm parts are usually included in the vocal tracks for some reason. So just go to a vocal track and skip to the time of the solo and it'll be there. The same goes not only for solos but for any rhythm part as well so for instance the middle section from battery is also there
Guess this is what i listen to as a more rhythm oriented guitar hobbist. So some of the details are lost in the mix but the james parts is what i listen to. Cool video
bro james is like my 2 inspiration to play guitar bro he is a beast!, I love metallica and your videos keep it up!, hoiler than thou is so underrated on the black album and those and justice for all songs are so good
@notofthisgod32 you are very deep wrong, Mustaine could colaborate in some of those tracks but the genius always where Hetfield and Burton, If Mustaine were the owner of those tracks, and then why didn't Mustaine fight this case in a court to recoger the riffs AMD songs that Mustaine say that he's the absolutely composer... mustaine fall down in his own lies and wrongs people follow his ridiculius and stupid game... this backing track video has the wherever i may roam rhythm riff without solo

1:07 the cut-off sounded like Kirk stepped on his guitar cable
ahah :)
LMAO
😂😂
-"Whah-..."
I like the holier than thou one
Holier Than Thou, Battery, and Blackened are my favorites
I could listen to the whole Metallica catalogue with just rhythm riffs.
Its almost better - because its something new
The riffs on The Frayed Ends of Sanity are pretty sick (5:15)
Yeah I discovered how badass they truly were the last couple years and now every time I pick up my guitar I jam the song

Maybe post Cliff, RIP, THRASH GOAT, but not before. It was different.

ok ok I got it
Frayed ends of sanity is 100% the most underrated song on the justice album, one of my favorite songs of all time
3:29 for whom the bells tolls 😱😱😱
For Whom the Bell Blackens
That rhythm under the solo in Battery is so hard to hear on the original recording. I had fits with the timing back in the day before the internet came along and provided some insight. 🤣
battery rhythm riff after the bridge riff sounds so aggressive
the frayed ends of sanity and especially disposable heroes are so good
the riff under the solo in shadows follow is fuckin sick. fun to air guitar to it
Hetfield is a Machine Gun. Precision, speed and energy.
Had this playing in the background and as I have heard pretty much all of these I didn’t really stop UNTIL the disposable heroes part, I had never heard that before and I definitely did a “hol up, what the fuck was that” at 6:42
Same here it caught me off guard it’s such a beautiful riff can’t believe I’ve never heard it under the solo
My favorite is the riff under the unforgiven solo with that little bend
I absolutely love videos like this. I will admit because I've heard the songs so many times you slowly hear certain things you never heard before so most of these I could pick up a riff just under the solo and it's cool to have something like that.❤️❤️🔥🔥
For Roam, just look for the Vocal Track
The riff work at Freyends from the 3:30 mark until the end is amazing. And the part under the solo is amazing.
That's Blackened

Very cool compilation
Holie than thou goes haaaaaaaaaard
the frayed riffs are so sharp and tight.....
Great vid, glad there’s an appreciation for this
Disposable Heroes at #1 is actually respectable. Definitely the best song in the album.
Every riff on Beyond Magnetic might as well be hidden because ive only heard the ep once lol

why did you ai isolate battery, blackened, my apocalypse and disposable heroes? their isolated tracks are available online
Not their Rhythm guitar tracks only

AJFA era was prime James
It was peak Metallica period!
Holier than Thou has some phenominal Riffs
3:10 like a fade to black
PART 2????
Frayed Ends is nasssstyyy 🔥
3:24 For Whom the Bell Tolls
Hes voice just got better. Sounds better almost 45 years later. He is the Chuck Norris of frontmen.

Ngl I'd be interested in seeing a Tool Album ranking possibly if you're willing to
On my list

Blackened is definitely the father of metalcore.
master of puppets
metalcore was around in 1988, leeway's "born to expire"

I don’t get “hidden”. How is it hidden, it’s right there.
Cause most people listen to the solo and ignore the rhythm underneath
Too bad he plays with the worst drummer ever
I dunno, it helps disguise how out of time his famous right wrist is
Sit down, kid.
