My list is pretty simple, 5. Welcome Home (1st Solo/Opening Solo 4. The Unforgiven 3. Ride the Lightning 2. Disposable Heroes 1. Fade to Black (Outro Solo)
my personal list would be: 15. the thing that should not be 14. fight fire with fire 13. wherever i may roam 12. welcome home (sanitarium) (second solo, after first chorus) 11. master of puppets (first solo) 10. master of puppets (main solo) 9. creeping death 8. to live is to die (james's solo) 7. one 6. orion (first solo) 5. blackened 4. fade to black (outro solo) 3. disposable heroes 2. the unforgiven 1. ride the lightning honorable mentions would be: nothing else matters ...and justice for all the call of ktulu welcome home (sanitarium) (opening solo) dyers eve the god that failed i don't know which master of puppets solo i prefer, so they can be interchangeable
I don't think one is as difficult to play as a lot of other Metallica solos. I can play it to a recognizable degree and I'm only on the guitar a year and half
Thing that should not be is so underrated! Thanks for giving it the attention it deserves! Wherever I May Roam and Sanitarium aren’t exactly underrated but they’re both awesome! Great job!
To live is to die might be Kirk. The "solo" could refer to Hetfield's clean part, although since the solo is over that riff I suspect it is James. However the one time they played it it was Hammet so idrk. Great list. Might include Eye of the Beholder instead of Dyer's Eve and put the intro solo instead of the outro solo to Fade to Black. Great work as always!!!
For me it would be: 15. The Thing That Should Not Be 14. Nothing Else Matters 13. The Unforgiven 12. The Four Horsemen (1st solo) 11. Dyers Eve 10. Master Of Puppets (James’ solo) 9. One 8. Disposable Heroes 7. Creeping Death 6. Welcome Home (last solo) 5. To Live Is To Die (James’ solo) 4. Blackened 3. Ride The Lightning 2. And Justice for All 1. Fade to Black (ending solo)
I agree, but no solos from KEA? Those on Hit The Lights and The Four Horsemen are top notch (who cares if he does nothing but cycling through pentatonic licks, they do the job).
This is one of the metallica myths some say its the first solo some the 2nd I think Kirk played all the solos, I remember reading he said he played the solos in orion on a rush he never said James played any solo but idk
so does load, reload, death magentic, hardwired, or 72 seasons not exist? i'd understand 72 and hardwired not being included but cmonnnn load reload and DM have AMAZING Solos
La cantidad de solos fantásticos que creo Hammett es casi absurdo, no se ha visto a tantos guitarristas hacer eso en el rock, así como absurdos son los comentarios de los haters que no saben apreciar el trabajo que ha hecho Kirk.
Every time when that part of master of puppets, i always kicks harder making me feel about me rocking on playing guitar while I get exposed about my true darkest past in live at Tokyo, japan
It amazes me how no one here (or at least the comments I’ve read) mentioned The Four Horsemen. In my opinion one of the best Metallica solos, and probably my favorite one. Pretty much on par for Ride The Lightning. Of course it was written by Dave Mustaine, therefore they can’t play it live, but still, the solo exists…
Being written or not by Mustaine doesnt matter live, they play the other songs normally anyway. The Four Horsemen one they cut it off because the slow part messes up with the concert pacing according to them
"The God That Failed" is a very underrated song and it has a very underrated solo.
It was on my top 15 once
the bend on the 22nd fret is so powerful rhythmically
Agreed
it has a solo so good i replay the song from halfway every time i hear it
My list is pretty simple,
5. Welcome Home (1st Solo/Opening Solo

1. ride the lightning
honorable mentions would be:
nothing else matters
...and justice for all
the call of ktulu
welcome home (sanitarium) (opening solo)
dyers eve
the god that failed
i don't know which master of puppets solo i prefer, so they can be interchangeable
Leper messiah has some cool sweeping and sound really good in my opinion
I think Kirk alternate picks it which is crazier
The Struggle Within Could be On the List IMO
could've added as honorable mention, but it was close to be there
@@Ryu_Akegreat list, but I kinda feel that Damage inc. Is omitted too lol
No solos from St. Anger? Rubbish.
💀💀
.
My favs
1. Blackend
2. Ride the lightning
3. One
4. MOP
5. Sanatarium
unforgiven is number one for me but spit out the bone solo should be on here aswell
Kirk was never a virtuoso but man he has like 30 memorable guitar solos even some stuff on load is good
Кто бы что не гнал на Кирка, а соляки у него великолепные
In terms of difficulty to play these solos, the top 5 are
1. Dyers Eve
2. Creeping Death
3. Disposable heroes
4. Blackened
5. One
For me Blackened is more difficult than creeping death
I don't think one is as difficult to play as a lot of other Metallica solos. I can play it to a recognizable degree and I'm only on the guitar a year and half
Thing that should not be is so underrated! Thanks for giving it the attention it deserves!
Wherever I May Roam and Sanitarium aren’t exactly underrated but they’re both awesome! Great job!
Welcome Home (Sanitarium) is my favourite Metallica’s song too!
I’d love to see Leper Messiah and AJFA on here but other than that this is a pretty solid ass list🔥
The solo over the clean part is James, he just didn't play it live
The solo on studio was played by James, they already said it, the other before the clean part is Kirk's
The riff under ride the lightning's solo makes it 5x better ngl 😂🤘
PUT SOME RESPECT ON WHEREVER I MAY ROAM 😞
Isnt being in top 15 respectful enough?
Disposable heroes ❤
WOW WOW WOW WOW WWOOOOOOW.
Kirk Hammett guitar in anywhere I may roam
Why does nobody talk about No Remorse? That solo is fucking killer!!!
Acoording to Mustaine he wrote all the solos shown in the video.
Mustaine wouldnt disrespect his playing like that 😂
For me it would be:
15. The Thing That Should Not Be
14. Nothing Else Matters
13. The Unforgiven
12. The Four Horsemen (1st solo)
11. Dyers Eve
10. Master Of Puppets (James’ solo)
9. One
8. Disposable Heroes
7. Creeping Death
6. Welcome Home (last solo)
5. To Live Is To Die (James’ solo)
4. Blackened
3. Ride The Lightning
2. And Justice for All
1. Fade to Black (ending solo)
The Unforgiven III should be here)
Agreed. It's so melodic and heavy at the same time. Somehow shreddy but still composed.
How is No Remorse not on here
WHERES RIDE THE LIGHTNING
Ask them FUCKIN’ why!
how could you not include any kill em all solos ?
Almost every solo on that sounds the same
@@Ryu_Ake the first solo from the four horsemen is probably the most unique metallica solo
@@кчау-л6я emphasis on "almost"
Seek and destroy and no remorse ones are so good
@@sgrp2706 yeah right, second solo i believe from jump in the fire is also very fire!
Blackened solo is the nuts
Best solo IMO
Blackened and battery have to be 2 of the greatest metal openers ever made up there with holy wars. Everything about them is nuts
Dyers Eve is the only one that comes close. Better IMPO
i’d pick also damage inc and t struggle within solos, but this list is on point
i'm at the beginning of the the video, no damage inc?? Lame
I agree, but no solos from KEA? Those on Hit The Lights and The Four Horsemen are top notch (who cares if he does nothing but cycling through pentatonic licks, they do the job).
@@Cthulhu_Awaken yes, that slow solo on horsemen is pretty underrated
dyers eve solo is the hardest of all metallica no doubt
Indeed + in the they videogame Guitar Hero is one Insane Hardest.
Creeping death is pretty difficult as well
@valaverses I'd say Dyers eve and creeping death are about the same in difficulty
@@The_Great_Letter_E Same with Disponsable Héroes
@@DiegoSandovalLopez4579 yeah, for me I'd say
1. Dyers Eve
2. Creeping Death
3. Disposable Heroes
All nightmare long is good one too
The whole death magnetic album is so underrated
@@benson_iguess fr
I absolutely agree but none of the solos would be on this list, merely because 80s Kirk was perfect @@benson_iguess
the day that never comes and spit out the bone are bangers
Ride The Lightning is top 5 greatest metal albums ever for metal solos.
Yeah up there with RiP
nice list, but, where is Nothing else matters solo?
Prolly the most melodic metallica solo .. shame its not in here
Its because it is James Hetfield's solo.
I kept wondering when it would come up and by #2 I was like “yeah! They think it’s #1 also!” Just to realize it wasn’t included in the list at all lol
its top 20 fs
Can we give more love to Load/Reload solos? Outlaw Torn solo easily belongs to this list
James one could be
James solo in Orion it's so beautiful too
you mean the harmony solo? bc all solos are from kirk and cliff
@@camarao5590 the little solo after The harmony is James', but Kirk plays it live
Isn’t the whole song technically a solo
the solo before cliff's solo

I don't know if this is my favorite, but I really love ...And justice for all solo.
Hell yeah
Kirk's solo on Lux Æterna should have been placed on first place
Not even the best solo of 72 seasons
Boring solo tbh
I think that was clearly a joke
LMAO
Lux æterna is the worst kirk hammett solo of all time lmao
I love metallica solos ,they tell a story, they are not like those bad shred everything ones.
Metallica solos rules
Notice how none of the solos picked are from post black-era. That is classic Metallica fans.
so does load, reload, death magentic, hardwired, or 72 seasons not exist? i'd understand 72 and hardwired not being included but cmonnnn load reload and DM have AMAZING Solos
If it was a top 20, the outlaw torn and maybe inamorata would be there
Metallica is kill em all, ride , master , and justice , black album
My top 3 most difficult Metallica solos are:
3. creeping death
2.Dyers eve
1. The shortest straw
Awesome list man I feel like eye of tue beholder could be on here but that’s just me
Master of puppets’ guitar solo the best Metallica’s guitar solo!!!🤟🏻🤟🏻
leper messiah, four horsemen, ajfa all have rlly good solos and should have been on this list imo
and creeping death higher
Hold on...
In the background of the Blackened solo at 8, do you guys not hear one of the riffs from For Whom The Bell Tolls?
i love your channel picture man, guy-man the true goat
I reckon the fade to black outro solo shouldve been number one with the unforgiven behind it but the my PO
in my opinion fight fire with fire outro solo is best
the pure energy and execution is insane in my opinion
I really enjoy Unforgiven III solo, I think that it fits perfectly into the song
I think the best solo ever made by Metallica is in Shoot me Again
outro of sanitarium is one of the best outros in metal history
suicide & redemption is really underrated
GOATED list
The Unforgiven III 🤘🔥
My friend of misery
La cantidad de solos fantásticos que creo Hammett es casi absurdo, no se ha visto a tantos guitarristas hacer eso en el rock, así como absurdos son los comentarios de los haters que no saben apreciar el trabajo que ha hecho Kirk.
Creeping Death solo is so good and the master of puppets medley solo is perfection
my top 2 after 10 years of listening to the band are hands down the god that failed and of wolf and man
my personal favorite is that "one" solo, which i use the isolated version as my ringtone..
They were all on the older albums but where was anesthesia (pulling teeth)??? And i have all of these on cd
