My coach tell me that lifting heavy is important too, it will build your strength, power, explosiveness and will make your bones more dense, but he tell me that make sure you do a good form and pick the weight that suit your body. Awesome video btw!
just got back from the gym after a long inconsistent break bc I felt aimless and unmotivated. Watching this video gave me some morale boost and I went for it. Seeing how much endurance and strength I've lost was very humbling. Couldn't even throw proper hooks towards the 2nd heavybag round. Weighted dips and chest fly absolutely killed me. Worked on some hammy/glute flexibility during the cool down. Thank you as always Shane, I will try to turn things around and start taking care of myself consistently. Now it's time to eat baby!!
+Nathaniel Flores Of course, man! Just being alive burns calories -- takes calories to make your heart beat, hair to grow, etc. So working out burns lots.
Great video, very useful. I've trained martial arts for a long time, but I decided I wanted to build a lot of muscle and gain some weight since I only weighed about 125 so I focused a lot more on "bodybuilding" for about a year and a half. Now I'm almost at my target weight of a lean 155 I'm looking to incorporate martial arts into my workouts again, but whilst still maintaining a lot of the muscle and strength I've gained over the last 2 years.
I just started with Muay Thai training on my own and watch all of your videos and I am applying this routine. It's perfectly good. Tks for sharing this wonderful video man! You have changed my life.
Shane I absolutely love your calisthenic and cardio mma workout, by any chance can u do more of those? I do the one u showed at least three times a week I would love to have more workouts.
Hey Shane, I recommend you to avoid doing chest flys. After 15 years of heavy lifting on the chest flys to get my chest big, I torn my labrum in my shoulder. After talking to my surgeon and physical therapist, they told me that labrum in your shoulders are not designed handle that much torque from chest flys. Good old fashion bench press will get you the same results.
+Lancers262 bench press and flyes are different movements. One is a multijoint pressing exercise and the other is a single joint chest adduction exercise, so the comparison is wrong. Compare it to something like a cable crossover or maybe even a dip.
+Bilal Syed Sorry Bilal...trusting your words over what my surgeon and physical therapist said is hard to believe. My surgeon, Dr. David Glaser is the head of University of Pennsylvania's shoulder and elbow department for orthopaedic surgery. And University of Pennsylvania is one of the best orthopaedic care in the country. Many of his patients are professional athletes. So decades of medical research on sports medicine on under his knowledge and University of Pennsylvania's medical research papers versus your knowledge....sorry but I'm no expert but I'm going to pick his advice over yours.
+fightTIPS no problem and low weights will greatly reduce the odds of getting labrum tear. You should also look into adopting shoulder exercises that are used in physical therapy like wall angels, "I", "Y", "W", "T", rotator cuff exercise, etc. Those exercises will not make you look ripped and sexy but they will provide the necessary support to keep your shoulders strong and reduce the odds of getting the self inflected injuries. Jeff Cavaliere, creator of athlean x, has those exercise in his program. Ever since my major injury, I only work with personal trainers that has a physical therapy background. Being able to perform at high level in martial arts is one thing but I want to be able to perform in a high level in my 40s, 50s, 60s, etc.
Hello! Can you make a video on Muay thai technique exercises without any equipment? It would be great since I do not have any place for a heavy bag and where I usally train is shut down since covid 19.
Do you have any videos on what kind of diet you're on? I want muscle but I don't want to just be bulky. I want my body size to be smaller and train in martial arts. Like your body. Awesome vid, man!
Nothing wrong with chest flyes, and with cables you can also cross your hands in front of your chest and get an extra range of motion you otherwise cannot. Good for hooks.
This is my workout (One Round = 3 Minutes) Warm-up Jump Rope: 2 Rounds Shadow Boxing: 3 Rounds Heavy Bag Work Push Kicks: 50 Rounds Kicks: 50 (Each Leg) Freestyle: 5 Rounds Supplement this with push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups and running on the regular (I do sprints if you prefer that). Also use a high protein, low fat diet, google some good food. Start training at a proper gym too, padwork and sparring is key but you need a partner and a trainer who knows what they're doing. Good luck :)
well as a beginner it is the MOST important thing to practise very very lightly for very many reps and veeeeery slow just becausr your brain has to safe the perfect technique before you get fast if you dont do that you will have bad habbits like dropping hands, telegraph punches, dipping, bad balance etc.
Hey Shane, great videos on your channel. Especially this one. You have very good channel with a lot of useful stuff for beginners. I would like to see some videos on resistance band training or crossfit training. Do they have a place in muay thai/boxing/mma and how you would incorporate them in Boxing/Muay thai, a lot of the exercises there are explosive with not so much weight and builds a lot of muscle endurance? What you think about this ? One more think, what about the diet, what do you consider for good lunch, dinner, snack ? You are not a big guy so i guess you are not eating as much, but anyway i believe you have more experience in this game, so it will be great if you make such #fighttips. Keep up with the good work Bro!
Been watching your videos, fucking awesome bro! I've been at It for about 2 months already, been to about 4 private lessons and sometimes training 3 hours straight. Thanks for the videos, your awesome man and keep at it!
coming from 10 years of serious lifting, ID do either or. being a competitive powerlifter, the goals are very contrasted. lift first, then take a 20 min break. get some more carbs in you, then do your fight stuff. this is coming from a guy who used to be 145lbs and is now 195lbs at the same height.
Not being in fitness profession and working in an office I used to do fighting and weights all together in the weekend but the. It was to intense so 1 Saturday was weights the next week fighting.but something would always get in the way in the weekends like a random wedding I have to go to or some cousin visits or something gets in the way so unfortunately I have to move that system to a work day so Wednesday's ain't so fun
dips are amazing, best push exercise imo, you should go a few weeks where you do low volume and heavy weight as well because training for strength greatly increases muscular endurance as well, theres guys who only train weighted pull ups and dips but when they test there max with bodyweight there doing over 30+, just something to think about ya kno
Hi Shane! First, love your channel and videos! Second, do you got some advice for stiff and sore hips/hip flexors? Im not the most flexible person, but lately my legs have been a fucking pain after workouts where we have been kicking alot
Love this, been looking for something like this for the longest time! Couldn't find anything more than having a full day in the gym like a bodybuilding session and then another workout for boxing! Unsustainable. Thank you Shane
Thanks, Shane. Another great video. I don't know about other people, but I'd like to see some stuff about self defense in kidnapping/mugging situations - stuff that is commonplace in some places. I really enjoyed your videos on getting out of duct tape and fending off a dog. They're the sort of possibilities that could more likely to occur to the average joe so I'm sure lots of people would love to see more. Thanks :)
hey coach shane, i've been doing this for a week now, and i know its 2016, the last video i watched was with u and coach pj, vicne anomaly, and the jiu jitera lady master. im not sure if you still followed up with this workout, but i wonder, do you still have a part 2 of this? that tackles other muscles? for legs i mean,.. the calves is worked out but I wonder if we should add more like leg presses or squats?
It shouldn't be "chest and triceps" it should be pushes and pulls. Split into upper and lower body sessions if you're trying to stay away from too much stress
Great vid. What kind of rest intervals between your weight training sets? Are you going to do a vid for your back & bi's and legs & shoulder days? Would like to see what kind of changes you make to your fight training (if any).
What are your thoughts on someone fighting and lifting heavy? Like benching 275-315 range and squatting upwards to 370-405? Too heavy? Or is Muay Thai a good combination with heavy weights?
"I wanna look good and be dangerous" - Shane Fazen
Amen.
+fightTIPS could we possibly get a fight like Joanna j, Niecky Holzken, Stephen Thompson and khabib nurmagomedov please?
Hard quote 💯
5 years later...amen🙏😂
My coach tell me that lifting heavy is important too, it will build your strength, power, explosiveness and will make your bones more dense, but he tell me that make sure you do a good form and pick the weight that suit your body. Awesome video btw!
Right!
Idk about "heavy" if you're actually fighting. If you can do 10 reps you should be good but none of the 3-4 reps where you max out.
@@Freiheit1232 why
"I wanna look good and be dangerous" words to fucking live by
Shane do a video on how a kidnapper should defend himself if his victim pulls a weapon
Lol
hate when that happens, i usually just put them back in their wheelchair and run away
"that's when you pull out your gun"
im dead😂😂😂😂
+Big Bob Wait, Aren't you the guy that said that his self defense moves don't work on your rape victims in his other video?
just got back from the gym after a long inconsistent break bc I felt aimless and unmotivated. Watching this video gave me some morale boost and I went for it. You got this 🤘
You're killing me with these videos Shane. That home MMA workout you did last week. Now this. Thank you so much :)
You got it, Nick!
+fightTIPS for real man lol . Shane doe the home mma work out burn calories? if it doesnt , do you have a work out to burn calories ?
ikr
+Nathaniel Flores Of course, man! Just being alive burns calories -- takes calories to make your heart beat, hair to grow, etc. So working out burns lots.
+fightTIPS Is that Herb Dean in the background ??
This is a pretty cool gym you train at
5:35 Crack kills, that guy should pick up shorts lol
+Langit lol
lol XD
Langit I didn't notice that, but now that I did I'm scarred for life...
i actually dont understand how people dont feel it
Oh boi
"because I'm not fighting anymore" at that moment my heart shattered :(
+Tyler Sanders yea but he's teaching.
Great video, very useful. Keep these videos coming Shane, good stuff it's very helpful! 👌🏽
Damn, your shadow boxing is really clean!
I like this because it makes training more interesting to mix it all up.
As usual, I appreciate all of the tips you give out. They have all been very useful in my training!
Shane I absolutely love your calisthenic and cardio mma workout, by any chance can u do more of those? I do the one u showed at least three times a week I would love to have more workouts.

Yikes, sorry to hear that. And thank you for the heads up! I personally never go heavy on the flyes, though.

Hello!
Can you make a video on Muay thai technique exercises without any equipment? It would be great since I do not have any place for a heavy bag and where I usally train is shut down since covid 19.
