  • There are many myths about Mary, the mother of Jesus. Was she divine? Is it proper to call her the "mother of God"? Was she sinless? Should we worship Mary or pray to her? Where is Mary now? In this program Pastor Doug Batchelor presents the answers to these questions. I don't own the copyrights to this video and it was uploaded strictly for educational purposes. Enjoy & God bless!

This video is very bold and knowing that the truth is bold, I believe that this sermon is right on target. Not all will be open to truth, which is okay, for you are planting the mustard seed that will grow in time. I pray that eyes will be opened to the truths in scripture and that ears will be opened to this teaching. Praise Yah for your study and helping the lost sheep. Yah bless you!

One time when Yeshua was speaking a women in the crowd proclaimed," Bless is the womb that bore you and the breast at which you nursed". LUKE 11:27) there was never a better opportunity for Yesuah to declare that Mary was indeed worthy of praise and adoration. what was Yeshua response?. " On the contrary blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it" ( LUKE 11:28) to Yeshua obedience to Gods word was more important than being the woman who gave birth to the Savior.

Great sermon by pastor Doug Bachelor. He states the truth about Mary as the Holy Bible teaches us, and the Bible should always be our reference as it is the holy word of God.
The Catholic church teaches the dogmas of man not God.
Mary was a human being who needed a Saviour just like the rest of humanity.

Amen Greg, The SDA church is the most falsely maligned church in existence today. They are the most scriptural church and the propaganda against them is fierce. I believe it is because they teach the whole Bible and use multiple scriptures on any given topic before teaching on it. They are just hungrier for truth and people hate it. They truly teach others to live like Christ did. Their prophecy seminars ask people to apply common sense through the evidence of multiple scriptures even if it is uncomfortable.

Hate? God forbid because if we hate anybody, then we do not hold up one of the two commandments that the Lord Christ left us, on which lay all the other commandments. Simply, she is human, like you and me. But as she said herself, she was a servant in need of a savior. If she is the mother of God, than David is the father of God also because it was through him that God promised to raise up Christ. And he even said, how did he say to the Lord, Lord, sit on the right hand of the Lord. If Jesus was a son of David, why would he call him Lord? The same goes for Mary. If she called Him Lord, how could she be His mother? Although I do feel a lot of "Christians" hate Mary, which is just as bad as believing her to be divine.

You must be Catholic because you are saying what we are saying .
Mary is not Devine but she is in the almost three hundred times .how many people do you know that has three biblical typology and a life story as the " God bearer " ?Be patient with this it is very deep theologically . Mary has several biblical titles but honoring Mary is not Mary worship . To impose the concept of the church on the name of Mary identifies the relationship that God has with the church , it is a biblcal structure of a very special relationship Christ has with his bride .

I have been reading the posts and it is making me sad that people argue about theology too much. Let's not call each other fools and other names like that. I will tell you all a story, a true story. I am honored to be married to a man who proved his love for Jesus in a very practical way. He was in the Soviet army back in 1979-1980. He did not have a choice not to go because it was and still is a compulsory army service in Russia. My husband is an Adventist and obviously a Sabbath keeper. In 1979 he could not be accepted to the University because of his faith although he excelled in school graduating from high school one year sooner than the rest of his class. Students had to be in school 6 days a week and only had Sundays off. My husband never went to school on Saturdays. It did not matter if it was a test day, or anything else. The faith of a young boy was very strong and no abusive communist teacher could do anything to him. Such people like my husband at high school graduation had a big red stamp placed on their forms stating that they are "Christians" and they are not politically correct and do not deserve to be trusted by the Soviet government. So anyway, he went to the army where the first day he refused to follow orders of his commander and went through a lot of abuse in the two years he was there. One day, one of the officers who was in charge of literally kicking the faith out of my husband's mind (a higher rank than my husband's) got so drunk he could barely stand on his feet. He took a gun, put the gun to my husband's neck and gave him a choice: either he denies God and starts obeying the orders or he will lose his life right there. In that room there was an entire coy (or squad or whatever you call it) standing there in complete silence waiting for what happens next. My husband did not beg for life nor did he say any word to him. Two years prior to this moment in addition to his parents daily risking losing their children to the government for their faith, my husband's only brother had drowned at age 11. Now his parents only had him as their only son standing there looking death right in the face and NOT giving up on God. He was silently praying. He could not show fear. He told me he was ready to die. By the grace of God that officer dropped the gun, although as I said he was completely drunk. This story is for those who think that only membership in a particular church will give them a ticket to heaven. Is that so? Let's stop and think for a bit and pray that every day we become better than we were yesterday, that we really love people and are void of any hatred. Let's do something good for God every day.

EricSaavy Yeah, the trinity is in the Bible. Remember in Genesis when it said let us create man in our image? Remember when Jesus said he sent the holy spirit to comfort us and direct us. Remember the command all those people said including Jesus, to baptize in the name of the father, son, and holy spirit? The bible does not have to use the word trinity for people to figure out it exists. That is why God gave most men the ability to exercise logical deduction. Many refuse to use it or just like to argue truth at every turn just to be contrary I am convinced.

You have everything right accept for having sin .
The only thing that gets a person into heaven is grace .
After grace there is no distinction between sin and grace or never having sin .
The biblcal text states that Mary is filled with grace . This is exactly as say " hail Mary filled with sinlessness".
Grace and sinlessness are one in the same.
Read the Bible carefully Mary is the only one of her kind . She is like Adam and Eve . The Bible says that she was born without original sin .
Trust me Mary is different , she is not a God but she isn't like us either.

Mary worship is solidly rooted in paganism, which the RCC is steeped in. Truly Luther was right, the RC church is corrupt, was corrupt, and will be corrupt. Mat 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
      ouch for rcc.
oh 2:3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
Joh 2:4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
      ouch for rcc.
But there is far more, the killing of millions of people in inquistions, auto da fe. the satanic symbols on every rcc church like the all seeing eye, the luciferean hand signs made by pope after pope, the masonic symbollism in the last supper by da vinci - hired by the papacy to paint it, the unrepentant abuse of children - pedophilia - the worship of the popes, of mary, of graven image,s of placing countless layers of intercessors between people and messiah - when it is clear that the authority over any man is Messiah and Messiah alone. The RCC is the small horn of the beast.

Greg Cox The New Testament was not written as a comprehensive rule of faith like Church manual and catechisms. They are writings of the Holy Apostles that dealt with specific issues in the Church at that time. St Paul tells the Thessalonians to hold fast to the TRADITIONS whether they be delivered in a epistle or by word of mouth 2 Thess 2:15. This is what the Orthodox Church does. St Mary is the God-bearer, for the one who was in her womb was truly God. Hence she gave birth to second person of the Godhead, Jesus Christ. She is rightly called the Mother of God, because of Word of God who was in her womb. You do not understand Church history and the Christological controversies that led the Church to this understanding. Mary is called the Mother of God precisely because the doctrine of the Incarnation had to be protected. If there was no Incarnation, there is no salvation. And the Incarnation could not have taken place unless St Mary gave birth to God, in the person of Jesus. SDAs do not understand the struggles the Church went through in the early centuries because they were not there and have no care for the legacy these great men passed down. Instead, authors like EGW slander these men in the worst possible way. Some of these men were thrown to the lions, as St Ignatius was, some beheaded, some crucified. All martyred for Christ. Yet EGW and others of her kind slander them.

Greg, @ 34:27 Doug quotes JPII for addressing Mary as the temple of the Holy Trinity. Didn't Paul say that our bodies are the temple of God? Of course Mary was a righteous person and the Church affirms that she was indwelt by God, as is the aim of every Christian!!! What is the problem with this??

    • @gregcox6165
      @gregcox6165 11 лет назад

Brendos, I think you are missing the point. Mary was selected for a very specific purpose, but to make her into a deity/co-mediatrix is just not biblical. There are ZERO bible texts that show Mary was born immaculate, ZERO texts to show she when to heaven, ZERO texts to support that she is a mediator in heaven. As for traditions, the Bible also warns
us to avoid those who teach for doctrines the traditions of men.
It boils down to this; catholics follow traditions for their doctrines, SDAs do not. It's not an argument, just a difference.

This is one of the best and unique topics of truth based on the Holy Bible that was treated by Pastor Batchelor in the Seventh-Day Adventist church. I already had read about the same topic on one of the many Bible-based writings by one of the contributing writers of the Plain Truth magazine in one of the free monthly magazines in the 1980s, and also in the Philadelphia Trumpet magazine during the last decade. These biblical points of evidence should be taught to recent bible students who had been attending the Roman Church.

Mary is the only human that said yes to God all her life. She was chosen by god to bring Jesus into the world, so that we could have our sins forgiven and reach salvation. Catholics know Mary is not god but we also know that she has the type of relationship with god that we should all be aiming to have. Mary plays a huge role in ending Satan. Read about the three days of darkness because that is coming soon as we are living in the book of revelations now.

The book of Revelation is full of symbols. You cannot just assume that the woman who gave birth to a son mentioned in Revelation as Mary, John would have mentioned her name if it was really her. Women throughout the bible often symbolizes the church. There are only two kinds of church - the true church of God and the false Satanic church.

Anne, sorry your view is unbiblical. God the Father didn't even talked to Mary at any time, not like the prophets of God. God just sent angel Gabriel which Mary was terrified at first, until the angel Gabriel said to her don't be afraid. Mary didn't even know her role in the first place. We just need to honor Mary but not worship. In the book of Revelation 12, its not Mary, it's the nation Israel under prophesy. Please study further.

Mary is the mother of Jesus
Therefore Mary is Mother of God

Mary was full of grace, common sense will tell you that she is devoid from sins/evil/stain...

We are all children of God. Your logic simply proves that. By your logic of Mary being without sin in order that Yeshua to be without sin is false, for it means Mary's parents and their parents and by extension everyone on her line must be without sin. This is absurd logic. For it is patently false as David sinned and urdered someone.

The early church replaced characters in old pagan religion with the real people from the bible and assigned to them the attributes of ancient gods in order to assimilate the pagans around them into the Christian church. An understandable motive but incorrect theology. Only Jesus came in the flesh and is God.

      HAHAHAHA!
I did not even yet said that the Blessed Mother Mary should not sinned so that He can bear Jesus but yes, it is also True....
When Angel Gabriel greeted to her He said: Hail Full of grace!- This was to prove that the Blessed Mother Mary did not sinned...
If God, the Father let her Son (Jesus) formed by Mother Mary it only means that She was the only one qualified to bear Jesus, without the "Yes" of Mary, Jesus could not have been born because there was no other woman that possess the quality of letting God, the Father bear His Son Jesus Christ and one of these qualties is that.this Woman should not and have not sinned..
      In
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.. Jesus was talking metaphorical of this, He did not even added to the verse that except He, Himself did not fall short for the Glory of God, because if He did so, He could have included Mother Mary and John The Baptist...
      Another Logic,
Jesus and Mother Mary was the new Adam and Eve, and in the beginning Eve and Adam had not original sin, Jesus and Mother Mary should not also have original sin because they both are parallelized by the Old testament, Jesus as the New Covenant and Mary, the New Ark of the Covenant
      and another proof:
in proto Evangelization of Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel."
"put enmity on the woman", that Woman was Mother Mary it means that Mother Mary was already planned by God, the Father to be separated by the original sin....

Helen Martin. when the angel Gabriel appears to Mary at the Annunciation, he does not call her Mary. instead, he says "Hail, full of grace"(LK 1:28). We have already seen in scripture jow conferring a title on someone changes their spiritual status. The phrase "full of grace"(in Greek, kecharitomene) means that Mary received a complete and perfect endowment of grace from God. only one other person in scripture is described as "full of grace," and that prrson is jesus christ (see jn 1:14). Remember also that it was God who first gave tgis title to Mary, since the anngel is a messenger of God. now granted the bible doesn't say that the angel Gabriel bow down to Mary but let us read 1 kings 2:19. we seen through scriptures how jesus came to fulfill the old covenant kingdom of David in his New Covenant kingdom of the Cstholic Church. In the old Covenant kingdom, the king's Mother was called the queen mother (In Hebrew, Gebirah) of the kingdom, and sat at the king's right hand. the queen mother had a powerful position in Isreal's royal monarchy. Because of her importance, the king would venerate the queen by bowing down to her(see 1kings 2:19). the queen mother also interceded on behalf of the people by making requests to the king, and the king did not refuse her. then she said I vBulletin have one small request to make of you ; do not refuse me. And the king said to her, Make your request, my mother; for I will not refuse you (1kings 2:20). tge queen was the principal intercessor before the king.

Get to know Mary better here : Mary's message in Medjugorge , 2nd of September 2016 :
"Dear children, according to the will of my Son and my motherly love, I am coming to you, my children, but especially to those who have not yet come to know the love of my Son. I am coming to you who think of me and who invoke me. To you, I am giving my motherly love and I am carrying the blessing of my Son. Do you have pure and open hearts, and do you see the gifts, the signs of my presence and love? My children, in your earthly life, be led by my example. My life was pain, silence and immeasurable faith and trust in the Heavenly Father. Nothing is by chance: neither pain, nor joy, nor suffering, nor love. All of these are graces which my Son grants to you and which lead you to eternal life. Of you, my Son asks for love and prayer in Him. As a mother I will teach you: to love and to pray in Him means to pray in the silence of your soul and not only reciting with your lips; it is even the least beautiful gesture done in the name of my Son - it is patience, mercy, the acceptance of pain and sacrifice done for the sake of another. My children, my Son is looking at you. Pray that you also may see His face and that it may be revealed to you. My children, I am revealing to you the only and real truth. Pray that you may comprehend it and be able to spread love and hope; that you may be able to be apostles of my love. In a special way, my motherly heart loves the shepherds. Pray for their blessed hands. Thank you."

pastor doug, who made you autobiographer of Mary, the mother of my Lord? The error and the arrogance of your ways is very clear. How dare you call the mother of your Lord as a sinner! Do not pin Christ against His mother, you do not speak for God. You are the ones who made Mary equal to God. Catholics know Mary is not God, she is a highly favored creature. It is your traditions that made you believe Mary, as you said is a goddess. BTW you just blasphemed against Mary, the Mother of God who is in heaven, Rev. 13.6 (you mentioned in this video that you want to talk to her in heaven, you have questions for her... guess what you first have to repent and be reconciled to the family of God).Romans 3:23 says, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." First John 1:8 adds, "If any man says he has no sin he is a liar and the truth is not in him." These texts could not be clearer for millions of Protestants: As you said..."How could anyone believe Mary was free from all sin in light of these Scripture passages? What’s more, Mary herself said, ‘My soul rejoices in God my savior’ in Luke 1:47. She clearly understood herself to be a sinner if she admits to needing a savior." Not a few Protestants are surprised to discover that Catholic Church actually agrees that Mary was "saved." Indeed, Mary needed a savior! However, Mary was "saved" from sin in a most sublime manner. She was given the grace to be "saved" completely from sin so that she never committed even the slightest transgression. You tend to emphasize God’s "salvation" almost exclusively to the forgiveness of sins actually committed. However, Sacred Scripture indicates that salvation can also refer to man being protected from sinning before the fact:Now to him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you without blemish before the presence of his glory with rejoicing, to the only God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and for ever. (Jude 24-25).Six hundred years ago, the great Franciscan theologian Duns Scotus explained that falling into sin could be likened to a man approaching unaware a deep ditch. If he falls into the ditch, he needs someone to lower a rope and save him. But if someone were to warn him of the danger ahead, preventing the man from falling into the ditch at all, he would be saved from falling in the first place. Likewise, Mary was saved from sin by receiving the grace to be preserved from it. But she was still saved. But what about "all have sinned" (Rom. 3:23) and "if any man says he has no sin he is a liar and the truth is not in him" (1 John 1:8)? Wouldn’t "all" and "any man" include Mary? On the surface, this sounds reasonable. But this way of thinking carried to its logical conclusion would list Jesus Christ in the company of sinners as well. No faithful Christian would dare say that. Yet no Christian can deny the plain texts of Scripture declaring Christ’s full humanity either. Thus, to take 1 John 1:8 in a strict, literal sense would apply "any man" to Jesus as well. The truth is Jesus Christ was an exception to Romans 3:23 and 1 John 1:8. And the Bible tells us he was in Hebrews 4:15: "Christ was tempted in all points even as we are and yet he was without sin." The question now is: Are there any other exceptions to this rule? Yes-millions of them. Both Romans 3:23 and 1 John 1:9 deal with personal rather than original sin. (Romans 5 deals with original sin.) And there are two exceptions to that general biblical norm as well. But for now, we will simply deal with Romans 3:23 and 1 John 1:8. First John 1:8 obviously refers to personal sin because in the very next verse, John tells us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins . . ." We do not confess original sin; we confess personal sins. The context of Romans 3:23 makes clear that it too refers to personal sin:None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands, no one seeks for God. All have turned aside, together they have gone wrong; no one does good, not even one. Their throat is an open grave. They use their tongues to deceive. The venom of.asps is under their lips. Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness. (Rom. 3:10-14).Original sin is not something we do; it is something we’ve inherited. Romans chapter three deals with personal sin because it speaks of sins committed by the sinner. With this in mind, consider this: Has a baby in the womb or a child of two ever committed a personal sin? No. To sin a person has to know the act he is about to perform is sinful while freely engaging his will in carrying it out. Without the proper faculties to enable them to sin, children before the age of accountability and anyone who does not have the use of his intellect and will cannot sin. So, there are and have been millions of exceptions to Romans 3:23 and 1 John 1:8.Still, how do we know Mary is an exception to the norm of "all have sinned?" And more specifically, is there biblical support for this claim? Yes, there is much biblical support. The Name Says it AllAnd [the angel Gabriel] came to [Mary] and said, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!" But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God." (Luke 1:28-30)Many Protestants will insist this text to be little more than a common greeting of the Archangel Gabriel to Mary. "What does this have to do with Mary being without sin?" Yet, the truth is, according to Mary herself, this was no common greeting. The text reveals Mary to have been "greatly troubled at the saying and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be" (Luke 1:29, emphasis added). What was it about this greeting that was so uncommon for Mary to react this way? We can consider at least two key.aspects.First, according to biblical scholars (as well as Pope John Paul II), the angel did more than simply greet Mary. The angel actually communicated a new name or title to her. (cf. Redemptoris Mater, 8, 9). In Greek, the greeting was kaire, kekaritomene, or "Hail, full of grace." Generally speaking, when one greeted another with kaire, a name or title would be found in the immediate context. "Hail, king of the Jews" in John 19:3 and "Claudias Lysias, to his Excellency the governor Felix, greeting" (Acts 23:26) are two biblical examples of this. The fact that the angel replaces Mary’s name in the greeting with "full of grace" was anything but common. This would be analogous to me speaking to one of our tech guys saying, "Hello, he who fixes computers." In Hebrew culture, names and name changes tell us something permanent about the character and calling of the one named. Just recall the name changes of Abram to Abraham (from "father" to "father of the multitudes") in Genesis 17:5, Saray to Sarah ("my princess" to "princess"), in Genesis 17:15 and Jacob to Israel ("supplanter" to "he who prevails with God") in Genesis 32:28. In each case, the names reveal something permanent about the one named. Abraham and Sarah transition from being a "father" and "princess" of one family to being "father" and "princess" or "mother" of the entire people of God (see Rom. 4:1-18; Is. 51:1-2). They become patriarch and matriarch of God’s people forever. Jacob/Israel becomes the patriarch whose name, "he who prevails with God," continues forever in the Church, which is called "the Israel of God" (Gal. 6:16). The People of God will forever "prevail with God" in the image of the patriarch Jacob. St. Luke uses the perfect passive participle, kekaritomene, as his "name" for Mary. This word literally means "she who has been graced" in a completed sense. This verbal adjective, "graced," is not just describing a simple past action. Greek has another tense for that. The perfect tense is used to indicate that an action has been completed in the past resulting in a present state of being. "Full of grace" is Mary’s name. So what does it tell us about Mary? Well, the average Christian is not completed in grace and in a permanent sense (see Phil. 3:8-12). But according to the angel, Mary is. You and I sin, not because of grace, but because of a lack of grace, or a lack of our cooperation with grace, in our lives. This greeting of the angel is one clue into the unique character and calling of the Mother of God. Only Mary is given the name "full of grace" and in the perfect tense, indicating that this permanent state of Mary was completed.

    2. The woman is a symbol for Israel This view makes sense of the woman’s crown of 12 stars, which recalls the 12 tribes of Israel. It also explains the birth pains image, which recalls the Daughter Zion prophecies about the trials God’s People would face. However, seeing the woman exclusively as Israel fails to explain 12:13-16, which portrays the woman fleeing into the desert to be protected and nourished by God after the messianic child has been enthroned in heaven. These verses clearly describe what God does for His People of the New Covenant after Christ’s coming, not the Israel of the Old era.
Therefore, although the woman is depicted in ways that recall Israel and the Church, interpretations that identify her only as a collective group do not make sense of her entire portrait in Revelation 12. Furthermore, since the other two main characters are identified as individuals (the male child being Jesus, and the dragon Satan), it seems unlikely that the third major character is only a symbol for a collective group. Rather, if the dragon and the child represent individuals, the woman also is likely to be an individual. Thus, we will see how a third interpretive option which identifies the woman as Mary is preferable.
    Room for Mary
    3. The woman is Mary. On a most basic level, there must be room for seeing Mary in this scene. While the woman still may have some symbolic meaning pointing to Israel or the Church, we must keep in mind that she is portrayed as the mother of the Messiah. And wouldn’t reference to the Messiah’s mother bring to mind Mary? It seems virtually impossible that the earliest Christians would have not seen Mary at all in this woman. As one commentator asks, “Is it conceivable that a Christian author of the late first century could speak about the Mother of Christ while prescinding entirely from the Virgin Mary?”[3 ]
A Marian interpretation avoids the pitfalls of views that see the woman not as an individual at all, but only as a symbol for the People of God. Such an either-or proposition itself is foreign to the biblical worldview in which individuals often symbolically represent collective groups (e.g., Romans 5:19, where Adam represents all humanity, and Psalm 44:4, where Jacob stands for all of Israel). Given this biblical notion of individuals representing larger groups of people, the woman in 12 could be understood as both an individual (Mary) and a
representative of God’s People as a whole. And Mary is just the right person to embody both the Old and New Covenant since she herself stands at the hinge between the and the New. If there was one woman in salvation history who could represent both Israel and the beginning of the New Covenant People of God, it would be Mary.
The Same Woman: Mary in John 19
But there is still one stronger argument that makes the Marian interpretation of the woman in Revelation 12 even clearer. Here, we will consider 12 in light of another passage in the Johannine tradition: Mary at the Cross in John 19:25-27. In John 19, we see from an earthly perspective what happens on Calvary: Jesus is crucified by the Romans while His mother and the beloved disciple stand at the foot of the Cross. Revelation 12 portrays the same scene, but from a heavenly perspective, so we can see with the eyes of angels what really happens on Good Friday: Calvary is the climactic cosmic showdown between God and the devil, and the real force behind Christ’s crucifixion is not the Romans, but Satan.
While John 19 presents soldiers nailing Jesus to a cross, Revelation 12 shows us the dragon waiting to devour the male child and fiercely battling the forces of heaven (Rev. 12:4-5, 7) and the son emerging victorious, enthroned in heaven, while the devil is defeated and cast down (12:5-9).
In the midst of this ultimate battle stands the “woman” in both scenes. In fact, there are four key parallels between the way the woman in Revelation 12 is portrayed and the way Mary at the in John 19 is described, highlighting how the Book of portrays the woman in ways that bring to mind Mary.
    1. “Woman.” Just as 12:1 presents a figure who is called a “woman” and is the mother of the Messiah (12:5), so Mary in John 19:25-27 is called “woman” and stands at the as the mother of the Messiah.
    2. Birth Pains. Both women are portrayed in scenes involving the Daughter Zion birth pains theme. This is explicit with the woman in Revelation 12:1-2, but the scene of Mary at the Cross in John 19 also has birth pains imagery in the background when the passage is read in light of something Jesus says earlier, in John 16:20-21. While discussing His imminent Passion and death, Jesus tells an allegory of a woman who experiences the pains of labor and the joy of finally giving birth to her child. This allegory foreshadows what Jesus’ disciples will soon experience: pain when they see Him crucified and great joy when they see risen from the dead.
Since this birth pains allegory foreshadows Calvary, its mention of a “woman” in her “hour” symbolizing Christ’s Passion and death clearly stands in the background of the scene of Mary at the Cross-a scene which similarly involves Mary being called “woman” (19:26) at the very hour of Christ’s Passion (cf. Jn. 12:27-31). With this birth pains imagery in the background of Jesus’ crucifixion in John 19, we find further connections between Mary at the and the woman in birth pains in Revelation 12.
    3. Satan’s Defeat. Just as the woman in 12 gives birth to a male child who is victoriously taken up to a throne in heaven while the devil is conquered and thrown out (12:5-9), so Mary in John 19 stands at the Cross with her messianic Son in His “hour”-which John’s Gospel portrays as the victorious hour when the devil is cast down (Jn. 12:27-31).
    4. Two-Fold Maternity. Both women are described as the mother of Jesus and as having a special motherly relationship with all of Christ’s faithful followers. Just as the woman in 12 is the mother not only of the individual Messiah (Rev. 12:5), but also of who “keep the commandments of God and bear testimony to Jesus” (12:17), so Mary at the Cross is presented not only as Jesus’ mother (Jn. 19:25-26), but also as the mother of the beloved disciple-a figure who represents all faithful disciples.[4 ]
All these parallels-”woman,” birth pains, Satan’s defeat, the mother of Christ, and the mother of Christ’s followers-show a unity of thought about the woman figure in John’s writings. Therefore, if the woman in John 19 is clearly understood to be Mary, the woman in 12 also should be seen as Mary.
1 For a more in-depth treatment of this complex passage, see my book Queen Mother: A Biblical Theology of Mary’s Queenship (Emmaus Road, 2004), pp. 88-103.
2 If such a depiction is related to Mary, it would not necessarily be opposed to the Catholic teaching about Mary remaining a virgin while giving birth to Jesus, and thus not experiencing birth pains. In the New Testament, John’s Gospel uses birth pain imagery not to describe a physical birth, but death and Resurrection (Jn. 16:20-21). Similarly, the Book of Revelation itself uses birth imagery to portray (Rev. 1:5). Thus, 12 is likely presenting not Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem, but the metaphorical birth of His death and Resurrection.www.agapebiblestudy.com/charts/Virgin%20Mary%20as%20the%20Ark%20of%20the%20New%20Covenant.htm

Sadly Doug Batchelor does NOT understand the real teachings of the Roman Catholic Church about Mother Mary. The Catholic has NEVER considered her as divine or goddess. Mary is NOT adored because God forbids it and the Canon Law of the Catholic Church which based on Divine Law forbids it. Canon Law 1255 of the 1918 forbid adoration of anyone other than the Holy Trinity. She is venerated and honoured which based on scriptures (Luke1:48-49). Mary is called Mother of God because JESUS is GOD unless Doug doubt it?? Therefore Mary who is the mother of Jesus why cannot she be considered the Mother of God! Just to educate Doug the title came as a counter the heretic of Arianism who denied the divine dignity of Jesus. Therefore everytime we mention Mary as the Mother of God we only glory Jesus who is truly God and man. We cannot divine Jesus like the Arianism. Therefore I strongly urge Doug to really educate himself before he goes to preach and claim to speak the amazing word of God if the anger of God shall come to him and his future generations for distorting the truth. I am simply amaze that Doug who claims to studied in a Catholic school appears to understand that Catholics considered Mary as a goddess which has NEVER BEEN part of the Catholic teachings for 2000 years!!

rockz Funk even Mary need salvation from Jesus, she is blessed of all Mom to vessel the birth of Jesus, but she is not above God coz she is a human. Jesus had to use a human to come as human.. so did Jesus use many prophets to do miracles and wonders so are they all become Gods? God call those his children as sons of God, I can't believe how stupid Catholics are that you pray to idols which God hates.

Batchelor misses the point. The Catholic Church teaches the Mary was a hand maid of the Lord and was influenced by the Holy Spirit. He doesn't read the verse of John 19:26 and Revel elation 12:1 "A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head." This is the basis of the Church's teaching about Mary.

jeffy john You have mis-interpreted the scripture. The "woman" is Israel, and the crown with 12 stars is the twelve tribes of Israel.
There is nothing significant about Mary to associate the twelve star crown. Just Catholic dogma.

There is so little mentioned of Mary in the scripture that I don't make assumptions about anything...Jesus is God...Mary is his mother...Mary is the Mother of God...the same way we cant explain the trinity fully..we cant explain Mary fully.....I will not pray to Mary because the bible says we should only pray to God...but I will NOT say Mary is not in heaven and Mary is not an intercessor for us....because I don't know.....I don't make assumptions.....I will stick to the bible....and accept that there are things I wont know till I get to heaven..

+holmes jaber Pray to your mother my brother.
CATHOLICS WORSHIP MARY???The Bible says "nothing unclean" per Revelation 21:27 can enter into Heaven or
into GOD's presence. Do you think GOD Himself would be born into a
"dirty" vessel given this Scripture??? Why do you think GOD specifically
      chose a "virgin"???
Now, we know Jesus Christ was “sinless” and how was He described specifically in the Bible??? John 1:14 states Jesus Christ is “FULL OF GRACE and truth”. Let’s compare that to what Gabriel an angel from GOD says to Mary while giving her a
"royalty" greeting in LUKE 1:28. "HAIL, FULL OF GRACE THE LORD
IS WITH YOU". If someone is "FULL OF GRACE" and "GOD IS WITH YOU", then does that leave room for anything else or can "sin" logically be in Mary??? Additionally, what does Elizabeth say who was “filled with the Holy Spirit”, meaning she can only speak TRUTH, say about Mary in Luke 1:42-3??? “BLESSED ARE YOU AMONG WOMEN,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And why is this granted me, that THE MOTHER OF MY LORD should come to me?” What is the Bible clearly saying here about Mary being the Mother of and what does clear logic stipulate???
Now, switching to idol worship allegations of Mary. When a GOD goes from being
invisible and distant (old covenant) to visible and close personally (NEW
COVENANT) does that change anything??? Ultimately, what did Jesus do for us per
Galatians 4:4-7??? If Jesus is the "doorway" to being "adopted" into God's family. And,
if GOD is now our FATHER in the NEW COVENANT after Baptism, Jesus is our
"KING" brother, then logically WHO WOULD BE OUR MOTHER??? Who do we
“receive” Jesus through into our world and who does Jesus give to a
"man" while dying on the cross using what specific kind of WORDING???
John 19:26-27. If we have “REAL HISTORICAL PEOPLE” who are part of our heavenly family, Jesus and Mary, then what would be the “LOVING” thing to do to honor them???
Do you have pictures or statues of your family in your home out of “LOVE” for them???Next, Mary was raised Body and Soul into Heaven per Revelation 12:1-6. Who
"brought forth" a male child who rules??? 12 stars reflect the 12 Apostles. Who was obviously present for not only the birth of Jesus Christ, but the birth of His BODY being "the Church" singular with the twelve Apostles present per Acts 1:14??? Why do
we greatly honor Mary??? Because, she is our "QUEEN MOTHER". Mother to Jesus Christ the “King” and to His Body “the Church” singular.
Should anyone ask for Mary’s intercessions before Jesus Christ her “King Son” and is it Biblical??? 1 Kings 2:19 we have Bathsheba interceding for another before the “KING SON” Solomon. Solomon’s response is to “bow down” to her and state in verse 20 “Make
your request, my mother; for I will not refuse you”.

That is not what the bible says. the bible says she was a sinner and needed a saviour as everyone else and she has no place in the salvation of man. She was blessed in the fact that she was chosen to be the virgin who gave birth to Jesus. But aside form that there is no mention of her as anything beyond that. You're statement comes form Roman Catholic false doctrine written by men hundreds and thousands of years after scripture..and scripture tells you that it is complete and not to add anything to it.

How was Jacinta's face found incorrupt when it was exhumed in 1935 & again in 1951?
Y would Satan, demon or anything else have a message of love, prayer 4 the sick & the world as a whole & give glory 2 our Father?
How can she predict the death of the children & the wars that would come?
Does Satan have this much power 2 deceive us???

Helen Martin I'm sorry Helen but thats incorrect. There's more to it than that. Jesus is specifically calling her woman like he did at the wedding at Cana revealing to everyone that this is the same woman that was spoken about when God spoke to the serpent saying I will make you and the woman enmity. God is giving this woman great importance. Listen to the Greeting that the Angel Gabriel used to greet this woman who was chosen to be the mother of God. "Hail Mary" full of grace the lord is with you. The word Hail is used to greet Kings & Queens. Any other form of greeting is a disrespect or a dishonor. The Angel Gabriel must've been bowing in her presence for he is the messenger of God. Read 1 king chapter 2 verse 19-32. And see how king solomon greeted his queen mother. Also look up Dr scott Hahn on you tube titled Hail Holy Queen. I think you will finded fascinating helen. GOD BLESS

      @hmartin8956 9 лет назад +1

Christian Taveras Full of grace just means that she was anointed with the Holy Spirit; and was graceful (The HS shall come upon thee Matthew 1:35) Have you not met graceful people today? Does being graceful turn one into divinity? We must have divine people among us; should we make a statue and bow down to it?
That Jesus made wine doesn't prove anything except a son is being helpful. Do your children ever do anything you need to be done? So that proves nothing.
Angels don't bow to anyone but the Lord God Almighty. It is forbidden. Nor did they allow anyone to bow before them. Peter didn't let Cornelius worship him. and said "I am just a man." God said: "I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to statues" Isaiah 42:8. God forbids making graven images. Isaiah 46:9 I am God, there is none else.
Hail=hello in modern day English, a king's subjects won't be saying "hello" to a king. Mary spoke of herself as, a "handmaiden of low estate". She admits she isn't royalty, nothing more than a servant.

***** John 19:27. Love my Mother Mary.
Now, "Our Father" prayer. Are you aware Jesus Christ was referencing the Holy Eucharist in "give us this day OUR DAILY BREAD"??? Check the Greek. Jesus says "I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE" three times before telling us what that bread becomes for ETERNAL LIFE ( JOHN 6 : 54 ).
Jesus Christ is the "NEW MANNA" as He compares Himself to the old manna in John 6:31-35 to sustain us until the NEW PROMISED LAND (HEAVEN).
Acts 2:46. What ONE and ONLY established CHURCH of Jesus Christ "broke bread daily " of the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER ( Luke 22 : 19 ) before the Book of Acts was even written in the mid-sixties AD, all along since Jesus Christ death in 33AD, and to this very day fulfilling Malachi 1:11 prophesy ALL ACROSS THE WORLD DAILY???
Hint: I received today, on a Monday, the “ Lamb of GOD ” (John 1 : 29, 1 Corinthians 5 : 7, 1 Peter 1 : 19) in the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER for ETERNAL LIFE (John 6 : 54) or for “ Death to Passover ”. I attempt to do so " worthily " to avoid " JUDGMENT " ( 1 Corinthians 11 : 27-29) in this ONE HISTORICAL, BIBLICAL, and LITURGICAL CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST.

elisa bailey You've been "blinded" by deception and false Protestant denomination propaganda. For instance,
HOW MANY POPES before 325AD or whichever date your Protestant false teachers told you the Catholic Church was established???
**Protestant False teachers call them the "Antichrist". GOD calls them His covenant promise to David.***
Where is Pope in the Bible???
The Pope or Biblically known as GOD’s “ONE SHEPHERD, MY SERVANT DAVID” “LINE” or “Descendants” can be found in five New Covenant prophecies: Jeremiah 33:14-22, Psalm 89:29, 36-37, Isaiah 22:21-22, Ezekiel 34:23 and Ezekiel 37:24-26.
Jeremiah 33:14-22 “Behold, the DAYS ARE COMING, says the Lord, WHEN I WILL FULFILL THE PROMISE I MADE to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring forth for David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.’ For thus says the Lord: **DAVID SHALL NEVER LACK A MAN TO SIT ON THE THRONE of the house of Israel, and the LEVITICAL PRIESTS SHALL NEVER LACK A MAN IN MY PRESENCE to offer burnt offerings, to burn cereal offerings, and TO MAKE SACRIFICES **FOREVER…….If** you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night will not come at their appointed time, then also my covenant with DAVID MY SERVANT may be broken, SO THAT HE SHALL NOT HAVE A SON TO REIGN ON HIS THRONE, AND MY COVENANT WITH THE LEVITICAL PRIESTS MY MINISTERS. As the host of heaven cannot be numbered and the sands of the sea cannot be measured, SO I WILL MULTIPLY THE DESCENDANTS OF DAVID MY SERVANT, AND THE LEVITICAL PRIEST WHO MINISTER TO ME.”***
Psalm 89:29 “I WILL ESTABLISH HIS LINE FOREVER AND HIS THRONE AS THE DAYS OF HEAVEN” and verse 36-37 “HIS LINE SHALL ENDURE FOREVER, HIS THRONE AS LONG AS THE SUN BEFORE ME. LIKE THE MOON IT SHALL BE ESTABLISHED FOREVER. IT SHALL STAND FIRM WHILE THE SKIES ENDURE”.
Isaiah 22:21-22 “I will clothe him with your robe, and will bind your belt on him, and will commit your AUTHORITY TO HIS HAND; and he shall be a FATHER to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. And I WILL PLACE ON HIS SHOULDER THE KEY OF THE HOUSE OF DAVID; HE SHALL OPEN AND NONE SHALL SHUT; AND HE SHALL SHUT AND NONE SHALL OPEN”. What does Jesus Christ say to Peter in Matthew 16:18-19??? “I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. I WILL GIVE YOU THE KEYS OF THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, AND WHATEVER YOU BIND ON EARTH SHALL BE BOUND IN HEAVEN, AND WHATEVER YOU LOOSE ON EARTH SHALL BE LOOSED IN HEAVEN”.
Ezekiel 34:23 Thus, says the Lord in context - “And I WILL SET OVER THEM ONE SHEPHERD, MY SERVANT DAVID, and HE SHALL FEED THEM; HE SHALL FEED THEM AND BE THEIR SHEPHERD”. Yes, this is initially referencing Jesus Christ, but notice these exact words in this prophecy mentioned to Peter alone in John 21:15-17 to the eventual “SON TO REIGN ON HIS THRONE” and is instructed to do what three times ??? Jesus says to Peter alone “FEED MY LAMBS”, “TEND MY SHEEP”, and “FEED MY SHEEP”.
Ezekiel 37:24-26. Thus says the Lord in context - “MY SERVANT DAVID SHALL BE KING OVER THEM; and they shall all have ONE SHEPHERD. They shall follow my ordinances and be care to observe my statutes”. Then in verse 26 “I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; and I WILL BLESS THEM AND MULTIPLY THEM, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them forever more”.
We have in Matthew 16:18-19 Jesus Christ fulfilling all these prophecies by establishing ONE SHEPERD in Peter by passing the “keys” of authority of His ONE and ONLY established CHURCH to him. From Peter what do we see throughout the course of history, but a “multiplication of DESCENDANTS”:

GOD does keep His covenant promises in His ONE HISTORICAL, BIBLICAL, and LITURGICAL CHURCH: the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
Now, what does GOD say would not “shine” if His covenant with David was “broken” in Jeremiah 33:20-22??? Better start thanking GOD and His ONE and ONLY Church’s “multiplication of DESCENDANTS” “on a throne” for the sun still shining upon you.

Wait, wait I know Joseph was of The Line through David by way of the tribe Judah.
I thought Mary was a Levite.
The only reason why I thought that because Elisabeth was Mary Cousin and she was married too Zacherias who was of the family lineage of Levi and He was a High Priest.
I thought earlier Scriptures before The Bible; got put together that The Holy Spirit, was Female that it once said In the Name of The Father, The Son, and The Mother (Not Mary).

Mother Mary is a part of the Church
She is not beyond the Church
but SHE IS THE FIRST ONE WHO ACCEPTED JESUS
Not Joseph nor any other person in the world
    Nor you Mr Doug.
You have to understand God's plan.
Catholic church preaches the sacrifices of a woman (or other saints)
As a part of our salvation.
So when I pray, (example the Rosary) , it is not only me who are praying
It is collective thought (contemplative prayer) of the whole world
(of Catholics all over the world, millions of them)

+Gary Jackson I'm not sure who we should fear more. ISIS or protestant heretics. You have heard the truth and rejected it. If any one is dead, its Martin Luther. He burns in hell for all eternity. Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot. Likewise, he entered Luther father of protestantism. "Once saved, always saved", hell is filled with those who bought this lie. Seek a valid baptism, and receive sacramental reconciliation.

the proper title for St Mary is Theotokos or "God-bearer" / "Mother of God" as was declared at the Council of Ephesus. Why? Because of the One whom she bore in her womb was truly God. God incarnate took his flesh from Mary. So the title "Mother of God" is not only appropriate, it is necessary and follows from the doctrine of the incarnation of God in the person of Jesus Christ.

brendos444 that is absolutely not true. SDA scholars have published mountains of historical tomes, many of them researched within the Vatican library. I've noted that I have posted direct quotes from Vatican archives and they induce a redirect, rather than rebuttal or acknowledgement. I'm ok with all that, but please at least try to make truthful statements. thx

On prayer to Mary, don't you ask your friends to pray for you? Mary is a friend, she loves you so much, I wish you could know in your heart. Why then would you not ask her to pray for you as well. You may have been lead in the wrong direction when you were in Catholic school. People, unfortunately are not perfect.

Yes, it is proper to call her the mother of God as Elizabeth said "Who am I that the mother of my Lord shall come unto me". As they understood the Lord is God, and by calling Him Lord, then yes, it is proper to call her that.

I never said God, I said Lord.
And so Elizabeth was a liar? You mean that her statement was so false that the Bible condemns her for it?
Sorry, the Bible commends her for saying it. The mother of our Lord still stands.
Oh, do you refuse to baptize in the manner which Jesus commands because Father, Son and Holy Ghost are "titles" and you baptize in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, which you just said was a title?

Then Lord being a mere title is still in effect as Elizabeth said.

When people are talking about converts, Elizabeth was the first.

The Catholic Church has The Infancy Gospel's.
I want too read Them; just as much The Gnostic Gospels accept Judas Iscariot.
Why because we as Believers need to know The Language one speaks when it comes to Bible Book's whether Cannonized or Not Cannon.
So if someone speaks a language that sounds Biblical we need to be able to Say those individuals "What The Bible Says is...
Then discuss through Prayer and Bible Study.

Orthodox and Catholics do not worship Mary. She is not considered divine or of the same "substance" as God. She is revered and given honour as she should - as St Matthew records that all generations will call her blessed. When traditional Christians "pray" to her, but they only ask for her to pray for us (as they do with the other saints). Just as we ask our friends to pray for us today.

    • @nickshir4185
      @nickshir4185 10 лет назад

Do you ask your diseased friends to pray for you too? I am a former Orthodox and I know what it is like to believe that an icon of Mary and other saints can cure you of health problems. I know what is like to think it is normal to venerate the bodies of dead saints. They make kids kiss them too. They hate Jews but so (maybe not so openly) are the Catholics. Ask yourself a simple question: was Jesus or His apostles doing all of that? Seriously! Follow Jesus. You can read my other comments here about Mary - mother of Jesus. I love her but do not ask her about anything anymore. We have Jesus for that.
For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, (Tim. 2:5)

    • @brendos444
      @brendos444 10 лет назад

Nick, with all due respect I believe that you were not well informed about your original Orthodox faith. No one believes that the icon cures anything. Icons are a window into the Kingdom of God. Because God became man, he is not invisible and can be depicted in images. In fact he must be. He is the icon (image) of God. Many people, long before the SDA began, were saying that Christ was really not a man. The icon tells that he really was a man. Fully God and fully man. Mary is the mother of Jesus - therefore she is the Mother of God. To call St Mary the Mother of God is really about whom she carried in her womb. Relics of saints are important, because the body is important and to be raised again on the last day. These were holy men and women whom, through a life time of leading holy lives, where temples of the Holy Spirit. We give due honor, not worship, to the saints. The Orthodox liturgy is very clear. Worship is due only to the Holy Trinity. But then again, the Trinity is another doctrine that SDAs are shaky on. People think they know what the Scriptures talk about, however, like St Peter said, many unlearned men twist its meaning.

    • @nickshir4185
      @nickshir4185 10 лет назад

brendos444 My name is Maria. I am Russian and have lived in America for almost 15 years. I was an Orthodox for almost 40 years and trust me I know what I am talking about here. I was defending the orthodox faith like not many people you know do and I know what this faith is all about. It is hard to believe that millions of Russian orthodox believers really "are not informed" (just like you think I am not informed) about their faith. When people get so easily confused about what they actually do in church - worship icons and saints or just honor them, it makes you think that there is really no difference between honoring and worshiping. It is just a different way of saying the same thing. What makes a difference and what is really important is what they think what they do. They think that without an icon they cannot be heard by God! Think that unless they look at a man-made object - an icon, they cannot pray properly or get the desired result from the prayer and it is a MUST to have a co-mediator in addition to Jesus. This is NOT what Jesus taught at all! You can hear every time during Sunday service the following prayer that all people in church say all together: "Mother of God, save us!". They break the commandments of God and teach others to do that. Russian orthodox Christians regularly visit churches and may travel long distances to a particular icon or relics that are known to help with health problems, marital problems, finding a spouse, having children, you name it. I had a grandmother in Russia who introduced me to the faith, taught me all about it when I was a teen and each time I would visit her, she'd show me some pictures of icons of Mary and she would kiss them and say: "This is a very powerful icon, it will help you". She was an orthodox all her life. I will tell you more: all her siblings and her parents were orthodox, and her sister was a nun who was made to leave her monastery during Soviet times. Can we think my grandmother did not know the proper way of saying things or did she not know the proper terminology to teach me correctly? Seriously, being a nun's sister? Oh, if she were the only one who was "not properly informed"! This is what the church teaches. I know perfectly well how orthodox substitute real things with a subdued things that are more tolerated by the rest of Christians in order to be more appealing to them. They say: "Oh, we do not worship saints, their dead bodies or icons. Praying IN FRONT of an icon is like having a picture of your loved one which you have in your house and you remember it in your prayers and talk to them... Saints are there in heaven asking God on our behalf and we should have them as our co-mediators." Question: is this what Jesus and His Apostles taught? Does it make a difference anymore? Find it in His teachings and NOT in the church teachings. Very important: how can we be sure that the Saints that the church considers to be such holy people (that she canonizes every year or so) are really in heaven right now when GOD and only God alone can decide on that? Church takes upon herself duties that only God can have. And this is the biggest problem with the Catholics and the Orthodox Christians. God clearly commands us NOT to worship images. Period.

Maria, thank you for telling me your story. Perhaps you do know about the Orthodox faith. My mistake for assuming not. Although many Protestant missionaries take advantage of the ignorance of people in ex-Communist countries. However, to address some of your points. I believe the phrase in the liturgy of St John Chrysostom is "through the intercessions of the Theotokos, oh Savior save us!" They are asking God the Savior to save them through the intercession of the Theotokos. The liturgy also says "For to you is due all glory, honor and worship, to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages". It nowhere says we are to worship to saints or Mary. Worship is due only to the Holy Trinity. Hebrews does say that there are a "cloud of witnesses". Paul says that he would rather away from the body and with Christ when referring to the possibility of death.Christ refers to the poor man being in "Abraham's bosom" after death in his parable. Even though this is a parable, why would Christ confuse the issue by using the afterlife as an example? The practice of venerating icons is very old. It was challenged first by the Muslims, who banned all images. Then by the Calvinist arm of the Reformation. Luther had no particular issues with religious images and art. Also read the story of how the Tabernacle in the wilderness was decorated in the Old Testament. It is full of images of the angels. If I were to throw out the Church's teachings and follow the Bible, which Protestant denomination should I join? They all claim to follow Bible, yet they all disagree with one another. Also look at the Sabbath issue. SDAs claim this was changed to Sunday. However in almost every European language, the word for Saturday is literally "Sabbath". As you would know, in Russian Saturday is "subbota", which literally means "sabbath". Also in Orthodox liturgies distinction is made between Sabbath and the Lord's Day. The Sabbath during Holy Week is known as the Great Sabbath when Christ rested in the tomb. So there was no change from Sabbath to Sunday. Both days are reverenced. Ethiopian Orthodox Christians still keep the Sabbath in the same manner as the Jews until today. So to claim that the days were changed is not correct. But anyway, I'm afraid we're not going to agree on this. Thank-you again for sharing.

Nick Shir By the way, The Bible also tells us that God is invisible. Let me ask you this: Is Jesus God? If so, is he invisible? If you answered yes to the first question and no to the second, you'll see why we can indeed make images of Christ. It's precisely because the invisible God of the Old Testament became flesh in Jesus Christ. This is also why Mary is called the Mother of God. Not because we say that she preceded God or anything like that. It is precisely because God was pleased to take flesh from Mary in the incarnation. You see, by God entering into the material world, he sanctified it and recreated it. The God of the Old Testament is revealed in the human being Jesus Christ. The Old Testament prohibition in the 10 Commandments was given because God had not yet dwelt among men. But the incarnation changes everything. Jews and Muslims think all Christians are idolaters because we believe that a human being was God. God becoming man shatters all our preconceptions. It turns everything on its head. Because of it, we can embrace physical representations of Jesus that were not possible before the incarnation. This is why the 7th Ecumenical Council defended it. In any case... i'm not trying to change your mind. Just trying to explain why these practices are considered orthodox :)

Mary--(as described by catholics- and others who have jumped into mystery religions) not the biblical mary-- it is a christianised or shall i say "sanitized"- isis-(remember ancient egypt?) All her current titles are similar to the ones given to isis eg, mother of god, mother of all virtues(graces? ) queen of heaven, (perpetual)virgin mother(is it not true that biblical mary had other sons and daughters?)- Isis was a goddess-- is that why mary has assummed a godlike figure within catholicism (of course no modern church attending person would say they worship(honor, venerate, adore) an idol BUT what is the practise?- bowing, kneeling, praying, kissing the idols feet-(like they used to do with the pope some time back).
    --
And why do marian apparitions teach a another gospel?- that many people are going to hell because there is no one to do penance for them!. The symbol of isis was the moon - why are images of mary often accompanied by a crescent moon- if she is not isis?. when using the rosary how many 'hail mary's' are said compared to 'our father'-- doesn't that show who is being given devotion!. How come the entire world has been dedicated to mary (what is she supposed to do with it? If indeed she is able to do anything about it!. I in Rome we have both statues of mary and isis( yes that is where vatican is - built on an ancient shrine place where mithraism was a major religion in which the highest level for an initiate was - "father!"). In the bible the appostles did not seem to hold mary in any way like people do today( despite her being the mediatrix of all graces). In one instance mary accompanied her other children to go and call jesus apparently because they thought he was embarrasing the family!.(and yet she is supposed to be a co-redemptrix?)
Paul said that when people put up idols( mary statues?) and pray to them, they are praying to devils( -oh- remember modern people do not pray to idols!?- they pray to God while kneeling infront of an curving of mary). And don't bother with the second commandment- it was thrown out many years ago( so its OK now to have images of all kind of things including jesus(who was God!). The goddess worship( or shall we say'' honoring' ''veneration' 'adoration') was done alongside the worship of the sun god, are we seeing the same thing in the christianized form - Mary/ Father and Son?-- but today catholics and others who venerate mary are too " cool" to admit that the symbolism from ancient babylon and egypt has been cleverly preserved in catholicism-- it is always on display but the modern(or shall i say 'post modern') christian is too reliant on the word of the priest, pastor, reverend(whatever that is supposed to mean?),Bishop, and 'arch' this and that-- to do their own reading( paul told timothy to study the word).
The biggest mistake catholics and others have done is to say that the only inspired word(bible) is not enough and that it has to be supplemented with traditions of men( yes- they are always of men). If they were of God they would NOT contradict the word of God(jesus). they would point people to the light(jesus). They would point to the only mediator between God and men(jesus).they would point people to the ONLY DOOR of salvation(jesus). The only FORGIVER(jesus), REDEEMER(jesus). the CHIEF SHEPHERD(jesus), not someone who thinks he is the 'holy father' or a christianised isis!.--( if you add the jesus of the eucharist, it becomes an" unholy" trinity)-- Basically once you add to christianity some beliefs and practices from ancient babylon and egypt it is no longer the same faith that was once given to the saints-- its ANOTHER GOSPEL! ( the word says there can never be a union between light and darkness)

Mary is very much alive in heaven (Revelation 12). Luke says that her soul magnifies the Lord (makes Jesus larger, clearer, and more in focus) in Luke 1:46. The bible says that people who die and go to heaven are equal to the angels (Luke 20:36). She is at enmity with the devil. This enmity is talked about in the Bible in Genesis 3:15: I will put enmity between you and the woman, between your seed and her seed. He will strike at your head, while you strike at his heel.

Because that is why he was crucified to forgive our sins, then rose again showing that there is no death. There is no death, the soul lives forever. But where you go depends on the state of your soul, when Jesus comes to Judge it.

Revelation 12:17. Here, the woman appears not only as the mother of the Messiah, but also the mother of other offspring, who are described as “those who keep the commandments of God and bear testimony to Jesus” (Rev. 12:17). Revelation 12, therefore, clearly reveals Mary as the mother of all who follow Christ.

Anne, the women is not the Mary you talking about. The woman-described as being “clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars” (verse 1)-represents Old Testament Israel. In the Old Testament, God referred to His people as a woman whom He had dressed in honor and splendor (Ezekiel 16). The garland with 12 stars may be symbolic of the 12 tribes of Israel (Genesis 37:9-10).Throughout Revelation 12 we note that the “woman” is repeatedly protected by God (verses 6, 14-16), especially as the time approaches for the “kingdom of our God” to be established on earth (verse 10).In the New Testament, God’s Church is symbolized as a woman; and its members are likened to virgins (Matthew 25:1-13; Revelation 14:4; Revelation 19:7). The New Testament Church is called “the Israel of God” (Galatians 6:16) and likened to “Jerusalem above,” which is called “the mother of us all” (Galatians 4:26, also see Hebrews 12:22-23). Members of the Church are described as “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His [God’s] own special people” (1 Peter 2:9).ad.

Christmas is a day set aside to celebrate our savior's birth. There's no claim that the day is correct, it was selected. You're not supposed to worship Mary or pray to anyone else in the bible aside from God. Traditions of trees & pagan holiday rituals are only for visual celebration. If one is more concerned about these things rather than the birth of Christ, then they are not in Christ or self absorbed. Don't let your surroundings taint the truth. It's like those who stop attending church bcuz of hypocrite members. It's individual salvation. Be careful not to mislead others.

Jer 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
Jer 10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
Jer 10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
Amo 5:21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.

I have studied it intensely and even though I do like some of his research about Mary and especially about the pope saying please remember that they still hold to their prophetess who was not a profit from the early nineteen-hundreds I forget her name and the denomination is off especially about Soul sleep. So I would not listen to this site or to anything Doug Batchelor has to say because you will be drawn into falsehood and it's very slight because that's why I studied what they believe. There is no such thing as Soul sleep when you die you are immediately in the presence of God and you are judged. So for all of the good things that the Seventh-day Adventist try to do they fall short. They are still considered a cult.

Thus says the Lord to ROQUES ROGAS the visionary in the 'THIRD TESTAMENT'
Mary is the flower of My heavenly garden, whose essence has always been in My Spirit.
The mantle of your Celestial Mother has protected the world for eternity, covering My children, who are her children, with love. Mary, Spirit, was not born in the world; her maternal essence has been with Me always.
.. In Mary, a woman without a stain, in whom the Spirit of Celestial Tenderness descended [to earth], the Divine promise announced by the prophet was fulfilled.
The most tender love of God for his creatures has no form, nevertheless, in the Second Era, it took the form of a woman, in Mary, the mother of Jesus
Understand that Mary has always existed, since her essence, her love, and her tenderness have always been in the Divinity.
How many theories and confusions have men forged about Mary, about her maternity, her conception, and her purity. How they have blasphemed!
    I
Mary represented purity, obedience, faith, tenderness and humility. Each of those virtues is a step on the ladder that I descended to come to the world and be made man in the womb of that holy and pure woman.
That tenderness, that purity, and that love are the Divine womb, where the seed of life is fertilized.
That ladder, by which I descended to you to be made man and dwell with My children, is the same that presents itself to you for your ascension to Me, transforming yourselves from men to spirits of light.
Mary is the ladder. Mary is the maternal womb. Seek her, and you find Me.
I left you to Mary at the foot of the cross on the mount that gathered My blood and the tears of the Mother. There she remained awaiting her children, for it shall be She who takes the cross from their shoulders, and shows them the road to glory.
The message of Mary was that of consolation, of tenderness, of humility, and of hope. She had to come to the earth to make her maternal essence known, offering her virginal womb to make the Word flesh.
She is the wife of My purity and My holiness; she is My Daughter upon being made woman, and My Mother upon conceiving the Incarnated Word.
Mary is essentially Divine; her spirit is one with the Father and the Son. Why judge her human if she was the favored daughter prophesized to humanity since the beginning of time as the creature in which the Divine Word would be made flesh.
Mary, your universal Mother, is in Me, and it is She who awards the most tender caresses to her beloved creatures. She has been in your heart to leave in it her peace and to prepare of a sanctuary. Mary keeps vigil for the world and extends her wings to protect it from pole to pole. . In My Divinity the love of intercession exists, it is Mary. How many hearts that remained closed to faith have been opened by Her to repentance and love? Her maternal essence is in all creation, it is felt by all, and nonetheless there are those who while seeing it deny it.
Those who deny the Divine maternity of Mary, are ignorant of one of the most beautiful revelations the Divinity has given to man.
The day that they understand the truth of that purity, they will say: “Better would it be never to have been born.” Tears of fire will burn their spirits, and then Mary will envelop them in her grace, the Divine Mother will protect them under her mantle, and the Father will forgive them, saying to them with infinite love: Keep vigil and pray, because I forgive you, and in you I forgive and bless the world Amen.

You are reading meaning into scripture and trying to twist it to prove what you believe. Try taking meaning FROM the bible. Lie: No one turns Mary into a goddess. Nothing but a straw man argument. You further the separation among Christians by advancing the myth that Mary is considered a goddess. The amazing fact is that YOU are advancing a myth instead of suppressing them.
