Shana, Tova, Rabbi. I agree with much of what you say, but I believe that people have the right to protest, whether they are right or wrong. Yes, there could be evil people with evil intent igniting the sparks that start the fires behind these demonstrations, but not allowing these protests is undemocratic. Universities must allow peaceful demonstrations, though they should not allow staff members to use lies and false teachings to incite these protests. Truth must be the standard at our universities. The way to combat wrongful protests is through overwhelming counter-protests and proper and truthful education.
I don't understand blaming President Biden for any of this. Biden has been a friend to Jews and Israel all his career. He has condemned antisemitism and has supported Israel's right to defend itself. He has been concerned about the number of Palestinian civilians who have been killed and the manner in which Israel has conducted the war. It is his job to be concerned, after all, the US is supplying Israel with much of the weaponry to fight the war. It is the responsibility of the Israeli government to show that they are conducting the war in accordance with international law. Through everything, Biden has continued to support Israel with money and weaponry. He has ordered our armed forces to help Israel shoot down missiles and rockets aimed at Israel. Has Biden been perfect? Of course not, but he doesn't deserve much of the condemnation that I have heard from many Jews.
