Great video. Would you consider making a video about the financial side of running a fish (store) business? Things like the upfront costs (tanks, rent, plumbing, fish stock, etc) and ongoing costs like food, water costs, electricity, etc?
I just ordered 2 20 gallon tanks, 1 10 g and 1 125 gallon tank to add to my fishroom and you're my inspiration actually, seeing someone young like you chasing your dreams and doing incredible things like this just push me forward! I'm thinking about making a fishroom tour soon when I get the new tanks! Keep up with the great work brother 👍
Red devil angelfish are exactly the same than koi genetically. Dry, color-enhancing food helps to increase the orange, but at that size they already show their mature coloration. The main enhancement you can expect is the tone of orange but not too much more coverage. Most breeding pairs of red devils throw a lot of fry that doesn’t have high coverage.
The only trick I got to work for Danio choprae was after they've been conditioned to drop the water temp to 19C during a water change. I had a matten filter with decent flow and a darker (green) color plastic mesh across the bottom and found eggs under the mesh the next day. I didn't separate males and females and I had all 10 of the fish I had at the time in the tank. That fish drove me to near madness trying every trick in the book I had for breeding other danio species for nearly 2 years. I'm hoping when their fry grow older they'll spawn easier then their parents.
I love your rams, and your platinum... I randomly lost all 5 of mine within a week of bringing home, water was fine, the other fish in tank healthy, eating and the rams were active, not floating or hiding, then just one after another they died, but nothing else in tank died, was doing emergency water changes to no avail. Since then I haven't seen them again
With the bulk of your cory's and pleco's adjust the pH to more acidic pH for a month and then to breeding pH and temperature and then they'll breed for you, I was the first person to breed L205's in Aus and in the first 3 people to breed wild caught L333's in Vic etc.etc. and the method worked first time every time for me!
I freakin love this fish room and all your collections and breeding projects!!! I’m surprised you aren’t much bigger with subs!!! But I’m sure in time you’ll blow up! When will get another full detailed fishroom tour?!?! I absolutely love this fish room and I love your detailed long tours!!! It’s fun to see what your breeding, how all the fish are doing and any other projects going on!!! Can’t wait to watch you grow brother!
The room looks awesome Man... I'm thinking that Dean would smile at the way you modified the fry system... it looks really good... I hear that stacks (hills) of round river rocks (varying sizes around fish size) works for the cory's (especially on a cm or so of river sand) ( you could just keep it licalized to there I guess... leave little holes between and leave it ling enough for mulm buildup.... haven't done it myself but I keep hearing it.
Impressive Fishroom Sir. Congratulations on build. 👏👏👏 I'm not a pro but for the angels using some of the water just after they lay eggs when added to the other tank like blk marble can stimulate breeding as it will contain pheromones. Secondly they won't breed if they are skittish so try putting a backing so they only see one side of room. For the angel pair with male issue. 1. Remove the pleco in tank it do eat the eggs when they are sleeping at night. If this doesn't work try checking tds if its with in range and soft water. Then try deworming the pair and see if that helps with fertility in male. Give him 3 to 5 tries after deworming. If no fertile eggs if you artificially hatch. I would swap him as could be sterile. As for the angel pair that laid on pipe i was thinking it shouldnt have tiles near it as fishes would select it. Anyway if you have any light diffusers aka egg crates you can isolate the pair in area with the eggs so you can atleast be able to get them hatching and siphon i to fry system when wriggles. This way you wont loose the batch and the parents will get chance to raise them till hatching since you can't remove pipe. For the danios try using the plant basket that Aquarium Coop uses and but a reverse trio 2 males 1 female in it in separate tank inside the basket with some java moss. The spawn tank should be bare to see if egg are dropped. Firstly separate males and females and condition on live food for 2 weeks. Then put together in new breeding tank. Try using RO mixed water at lower temperatures. Try doing 50% daily water changes to stimulate breeding as theywould think its rainy season. Hope this helps. Best of luck.
Lots of beautiful plecos! For the black corys try throwing some ice or a water change with really cold water to lower the tank temperature by about 8C. You may get lucky if you increase the water flow. I have gotten a lot of different fish to spawn when placing an HOB filter above the water level creating that waterfall effect.
The peppermints prefer wood caves for breeding and the L333's tend to like rock caves but will breed in wood caves aswell. Para-ex is what I used to get rid of parasites either internal or external. If you need any further information then I'm on Facebook.
I love your content-- I'm only getting started in the hobby! I have a Twintail Betta that I bought after my old Betta died. :( Ever since I was little, I've always wanted to keep Neon Tetras. You should make a video where you speak about what got you into the hobby.
Hey mate, I was having trouble getting levamisole too but found a product called “avitrol plus” that’s sposed to be for birds but is exactly the same as the fish treatments they have overseas. Bit hard to find but a lot of smaller independent pet shops stock it at least in Sydney anyway. Cleared my tank up after 2 treatments! Just a quick edit: if you do end up using avitrol plus make sure you use the pills and crush them up and dissolve them in your tank and not the liquid, the liquid has a heap of sugar or something that can mess up your tank. Congrats on finishing your tank room looks sick
That's why they call Dean "The Master Breeder " . I'm so jealous of your room. Thanks for the update. COOL!! P.s. Have you been to Smith's Aquarium in Brissy? Great shop and some really healthy looking fish.
Those “altum” angels are scalare angels, they’re a wild pattern, but not an altum. True altums have extremely high foreheads and more intense colors for the age, as well as much higher fins than the scalare.
i have some tips for you with spawning schultzei, make them real fat, feed them a lot for about a week long with frozen, live and repashy, then do a waterchange of 50% with cold RO. then you are probably gonna have eggs. good luck!
I noticed that you are using R O Water, could you please do a video on why you use R O Water, the advantages & the cost. I know it takes out all the nasties, but what do you have to add to the water. ( chemicals). Is it advisable for planted Tanks? Cost and setup. Thanks Roy
Awesome setup! Very inspiring. But why is there a peacock endler male swimming around in your Blue star endler tank? It has probably screwed up the genetics by now. Kind regards.
Brisbane just like me....!!! I watched bits and pieces if the video but missed some....do U have auto water change in most tanks? Would love a detailed video on how U did it....plenty of American vids on it but we good to have an Aussie version lol...sick if changing my racks manually...edit: watched on I see the system but not sure in how condition the tap water ?
Uhh! Nick I wish we are not this far from each other, or I can give you my agassizii like right now hahaha. Got 2 pairs of them and the males are too aggressive. They always bite my corydoras tale fin and I got no more tank to put them. By the way, I thought koi and devil red angelfish are the same. Can we identify them by their scales? And here in China they feed them certain food to enhance the color. Without feeding them the food the color will return to orange.
Hello I I just have a small question about my to baby angel fish. one of the angelfish keeps chasing the other around. Is there anything I can do to stop it or help? Thanks
i'm pretty sure it depends on the fry, it's the dean tweedle system, the fry rack can handle large amount of water while holding small space for fry to find the food easier. the containers allow him to feed more without the trouble of fouling up the water because the overall amount of water is larger
bn you mean bristlenose? If so, once they mature if there are males and females and a cave they’ll start spawning on their own. I have had to separate males from females bc it’s just too much.
That's the perfect video for a sunday hangover on the sofa!
I'm still catching my breath. This is so impressive! What a fantastic job you're doing. Thanks🌿🌿🌿
