Another triumph! I love the light on this tank. What I don’t understand is why you say that the crushed root tabs will result in a slow release of nutrients. Surely the slow release comes from the active ingredients being in a tablet form - by crushing the tabs the nutrients will dissolve and break down sooner. Would it be better to perhaps crush only a few of them, break some into quarters, some into halves and keep some whole? This way you might achieve a slower release of the nutrients, over a longer period of time, but still have an initial ‘hit’ of nutrients when you first set up a tank. Just a thought. Loving API products by the way - CO2 Booster has really helped me to get on top of BBA.

Tank does look awesome and it’s initial set up. It’s a shame that that beautiful Hardscape will be obscured by those fast growing stems that you placed in the middle ground will cover up all that hard scape in a month. I probably would’ve chosen, low, growing slow, growing plants, so that you can really see the impact and the hard scape.

I am surprised there is no clean-up crew involved - obviously, shrimp would just be expensive food for angels, but some of the larger cory, a few plecos, and reasonable sized snails would do the trick and maybe tuck in a tiny bit of botanicals to round out natural look. Personally, I think that many emperor tetras overwhelm the tank pulling away from your alleged *Angel* show fish though maybe when the angels will show better in 1-2 weeks when them come forward - still I think too many tetras given their powerful coloration. If it had been myself, I would have reduced tetras to 10-12 tetras and substituted in a cleaning crew - 3-4 bristle-nose plecos (prefer because of their smaller max size) with maybe 6-8 Cory Cats (I love Julii) and snails.

Love it! Just did something similar with my 40gallon by going above the rim with some immersed plants. Something new I tried: I used screen from the hardware store (like whats used on patio doors) to fully cap down the nutrient layer before adding the top visible substrate/sand. That way my corys wont dig and mix them all together!

Hello, I’m new to aquascaping and plants. Maybi ask why you use different substrates for different aqua scape builds? Couldn’t you use the same substrate for each of them?

The song at 4:20 has been “A wolf in VR” theme song for a couple years now. Not complaining just funny how 2 RUclipsrs that make videos on completely different things use the same song. Lol

great tank again 👌 i love angelfish, but these variations are not that great. Check out wild types like Rio Nanay, Manacapuru or Santa Isabel and you will see the diference. Long ventral fins, very high dorsal fin, pointy nose, that is what an angelfish should look like. Theese have no pointy nose and small fins compared to wild types. Once you see it, it cannot be unseen.

Love watching you put these stunning tanks together. I am inquisitive as to what this would cost to create it. I added two smallish plants to my tank this week from your favourite retailer and they set me back £11.00. So how much do all the plants in this tank cost if you don't have the option to use plants from other tanks. Could you give a breakdown of what the finished tank would cost if you paid the same price we would have to pay for all everything you used?

Love API quick start... but I find that I can get the same results by adding a handful of bladder snails. 😂 not the solution for everyone or even most, but I love the little guys.

It is now time post an update of a handful of older, established tanks. I like the old ones. They're messy and jungly.

Do you feel a tank that size is suitable for angels? I would have expected something much larger would be the minimum to support the fish and natural behaviour

Another Great Tank, I tried your substrate method and my tank has just taken off with Plant. Just one thing, I notice you put your Filter media in the bottom, you want that after the sponges not before as the sponge take all the big crap first and the media just works better.

You are lucky that you can get plants. Here in Texas we are very limited because people get tired of things and dump it in the waterways. You should see the Pythons that are being caught on the swamps.

When you need to do a 50% ish water change the next day or so do you reload the tank with leaf zone again because you’ve reduced the fertiliser doing the water change 🤷🏼‍♂️
