    Love your videos.
    As small comment about thetemperature. The pump is likely 50W, thus it is onlly heating as a 50W heater maximum. The reason for the increase in temperature is the lids that prevent evaporation. You can also yse it "reverse" in a warm summer just remove the lid and ad a small fan (e.g. 80mm 12V computer fan) and see the temperature drop about 4 deg C in the tank. All depending on airflow and relative humidity in the room.

    46:45 Cover the back gap with the round concrete foam you showed earlier (21:03 I use pipe insulation/pool noodles and zip ties so I can replace the foam due to UV deterioration). Cut a groove to fit the glass and punch a couple holes for the lines. I have had fish/etc escape from the tiniest space and this will also lower the humidity as that is probably where most of your water escapes, next to the air lines.

    23:29 I think the shrimp I recently purchased had lowered in number, and not bred, is because of the food issue. They harp on you about perfect water conditions, which makes you not want to over feed, so you probably are actually making things worse by not feeding enough.

    • @sydneysangels
      @sydneysangels  Год назад

      I know right?? That's one of the biggest reasons I wasn't successful with shrimp before. I noticed all of my shrimp in fish tanks. We're doing better than shrimp only tanks, it must have been because they were actually getting food lol

  • @roland6357

    I have, well what I think is a good idea also, Dan. When you get new fish and you are pretty sure they were imported, ask the seller for an extra bag of water. Then when you place the new fish in isolation you don't throw the water they come in away, add the other bag of water. Then over the next four or five days slowly, AM and PM add just a small amount of your own water. Takes longer to accommodate but they need to be separate anyway. They get used to it. I would rather get locally born or at least Eastern bred fish. But sometimes that won't work. I want to buy Skiffia francesae from Dan's Fish, they would be coming from Wyoming. So that was the plan, ask for extra water.

    • @sydneysangels
      @sydneysangels  2 года назад

      I like that idea, It would allow the fish to adjust a lot more slowly and naturally. I guess I never thought of that! Because honestly the fish born in my water are bullet proof but I have had mixed success with imported fish

    Good stuff Dan, I always enjoy a total fish room tour. I love the lids that you made, I don't have a tank setup like that yet but it still has inspired me to make one for my large tank. I also really appreciate your thinking on the rare fish / possible extinction issue. Hopefully that can inspire others to do the same. Keep it up! 👍

    • @sydneysangels
      @sydneysangels  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Dave! I always really appreciate your comments. I think you should totally make some lids! I've never cut glass before but it was pretty easy and cheap to do! Yes now that I'm dealing more with rainbow fish. I want to start looking at keeping endangered species and breeding them for others. I think that would really give me a sense of fulfillment. It's horrifying to imagine losing species due to natural habitats being destroyed

    Could you do a video about your racks. I have one metal rack from Ace Hardware. I priced one at Home Depot , but it was way more than I could afford.
