Fun fact: Bees can, and do leave beekeepers who don't treat them right if their queen decides to leave. The bees stay by _choice._
I would argue that bees are more consenting than a lot of human workers. You won't see any bees staying with a bad beekeeper so they can pay off their student loans.
And we keep them safe and fed so they don't need the backup honey, animal agriculture has huge issues and domestic bees are bad for local flora and fauna but it's not cruel to the bees lol
Also I remember a story (not sure if
true though) of a case when a beekeeper died, apparently all bees in his hives attended his funeral making a bee cloud over his gravestone for a while and after they were done they fled and abandoned the hives
@Dump Sockpuppet the larger issue surrounding death and beekeeping comes from when a hive is only used to one keeper so after their death they think the new keeper is an intruder and move the nest because its no longer safe in their eyes, this is the origins of the tradition of "telling the bees" where you must tell the bees if someone dies, especially the land owner, so they know and aren't offended they weren't kept in the loop
Along those same lines, it's actually the worker bees who are in charge of the hive and who make all the decisions. Calling the main breeding female a queen is a misnomer, as she primarily serves to be the brood mare, and is completely at the mercy of the workers. If the workers decide they don't like the main breeding female, they'll replace her.
I was convinced for most of my childhood that bisexuality was the ACTUAL default setting, and that everyone just picked the sexuality they liked more later in life when they started "real" dating. I also used to think that it was no problem for people who "stayed" bisexual to go ahead and have multiple partners... Like, my polyamorous demi-bisexual self at 15 thought EVERYONE was just like me and I was super confused that they were being so uptight about it.
this was like me but with my gender..l
Same but I’m aroace so in my brain my thought process was if you had to choose between two bags of candy and you had the option of both. Why wouldn’t you just pick both. So I assume it was the same with dating people.
This is actually so wholesome
I guess I could just Google it, but wtf is demi-bisexual? I'm not that into Greek or Latin or whatever, but doesn't demi mean something like "half" (as in Hercules the demigod) and bisexuality means being attracted to two genders. Then demi-bisexual means you're attracted to one, so you're either heterosexual or homosexual?
Or is it just a more stylish way of saying "I'm heterosexual/homosexual"?
@@HuslWusl It's shorthand for demisexual and bisexual. Two different spectrums. I can be attracted to another gender or my own, but it takes quite a connection for me to be interested in sex with that person. Picked it up in this channel's comment section, actually. Less of a mouthful.
the contrast between saying your grandmother watches you videos and then immediately reading a post about a threesome is peak comedy

As someone who worked in a bookstore 14 years, I can confirm the book color meme is very, very real.
I also loved it when the customer would break out the "It was on the center display at

6:20 On the right is Rayquaza, a legendary Dragon-type Pokémon tasked with maintaining the atmosphere and protecting Earth from extraterrestrial threats ( mainly just Deoxys, other alien Pokémons are left alone ), and inspired by the Quetzalcoatl ( except if I spelled its name wrong ), an Aztec dragon god.
On the left is Lucoa, a character from the anime Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid ( not sure on the ortograph ). She is a powerful dragon, whose true form is also inspired by the Quetzalcoatl.
This is why they are technically the same.
yeah, Lucoa was Quetzalcoatl, that picture on the left was just her human form (since most main characters are various dragons, but usually seen in their human form since the anime is set in human world)
Canonically Lucoa IS Quetzalcoatl, she just shortens it to Lcoa (pronounced 'Lucoa') for conveniences sake. She literally talks about how some humans used to worship her as a God before she messed it up by getting drunk and fxxxing her sister (because apparently that was a thing that Quetzalcoatl ~actually~ did in the Aztec mythology).
Thank you mythological side of tumblr
Thank god someone pointed this out lol
Also c'mon Rayquaza is one of the better known ones right?
I love OT's laugh because it's so contagious, basically asking you to join in with the fun. I always watch OT on a really bad day to remember how to laugh, and it's been working.
I love the wholesomeness too, like a little star in the dark night sky. I always talk poetically when talk about something important to me. Thanks king.
Yay, someone else who gets it!
14:20 Also, you have to consider that you might be overwatering the plants.
I love how as a Canadian, as soon as OT said "You wanna see the biggest lie I was told as a Canadian child?" I immediately knew what he was talking about. Ask almost any Canadian about the house hippo and they will know exactly what you're talking about. It's just engrained in our collective subconscious.
Not a Canadian but as an Aussie I can think of several adds that similarly ingrained themselves in the culture of my generation
I know right. As soon as he said "You wanna see the biggest lie I was told as a Canadian child?", I said house hippo out loud and scared my grandma lol
The instant that advertisement came up in the video, a part of my brain I didn't even know still existed started to SCREAM.
Discovery channel had two mockumentaries, one about mermaids washing up on shores, another where someone finds a dragon frost mummy in a glacier.
At least house hippos had the courtesy to actually state that they weren't a thing, and not just slip a disclaimer at the end of the credits!
But house hippos _are_ real! They made the ad to stop people from looking for them because their numbers were in decline
OK, so here's the thing with the dragon boobs. The boobly one is Mrs Lucoa, a character from the series Mrs. Kobayashi's Dragon Maid.
Aside from having no sense of shame or self-awareness, Lucoa often acts as a sort of buffer between several other characters by giving out solid life and/or relationship advice, specifically helping to moderate the rivalry between the chaos aligned fire dragon Tohru and her former bff the harmony aligned water dragon Elma.
The snake thing is a legendary pokémon named Rayquaza and it shows up at the end of one of the games to stop two other legendary pokémon from starting a fight of potentially apocalyptic proportions.
So basically, both are dragons who stop other dragons from causing desastrous collateral damage when having a fight.
Oh, and also both Lucoa and Rayquaza are based on the same aztec dragon deity.
all correct from the Lucoa side I can confirm even tho me commenting this doesn't matter at all and I shouldn't even bother typing it
The Aztecs… didn't have dragons.
They did, however, have a snake with feathers. Which they got from the Mayans. Which _they_ got from the ancient city of Teotehuacan. The Feathered Serpent god (but goddess) was a _very old_ pan-Mesoamerican deity. Quetzalcoatl to the Aztecs. Kukulkan in some of the Mayan city-states. Other names to the Toltec.
Check out the OSP video on Quetzalcoatl for more info.
@@John_Weiss she was a serpent to them similar to how Chinese dragons are serpent like

Fun fact about Rayquaza: it's also based on and has the same role as the Ziz of Hebrew Legend and has physical resemblances with Chinese Dragons and Lindwurms.
So honestly, you can pair it with a lot of dragons and be like, "Yup. They're cousins."

The story about the little girl asking the guy if his mom helps him put on his tattoos every day is so adorable that it made me smile so hard I teared up. I could just imagine my little niece doing something like that, and it would have made my day if something like that happened to me. I would have told the little girl "My mom always helps me, because you should always ask your mom help you with important things."

The “I think it was blue” book thing happened to me many times throughout my career as a bookseller, but I had an uncanny ability to know which book it was every single time and I kept that strip in my wallet for years because of it. That moment felt biographical for me 😂
I've described a book by colour before and had people know what I meant, it was a rather niech series with some unique ass colours (at least in the library I was talking about, it was a Conservative private religious school in the heartlands our whole library fit in one classroom)
Once it was Outlander for me. The customer knew it was a romance that had a blue color. Unfortunately Barnes and Noble couldn’t decide if the series was romance, science fiction or just fiction. Le sigh
I love the absolute craziness in the first post, and the last two people in it are the most sane.

very likely that everyone that forgot that kettles exist are american, as for some reason they don't really use kettles in the US
8:57 The Irish "wooden onesie" reminds me of "pijama de madera" which is used in Spanish (at least in Argentina).
And here where i live it's a "wooden tuxedo"!
13:10 For those who may not get it, in addition to the obvious song reference, this is also a reference to one time in Norse Mythology when a powerful frost giant somehow managed to steal Mjolnir without Thor realizing it until he woke up the next day and couldn't find his hammer. The giant then attempted to ransom the hammer in exchange for the hand of the beautiful goddess Freya (goddess of fertility, among other things including war and death) in marriage. Freya was having none of this of course, and Thor really wanted his hammer back, so a plan was devised where Thor would dress up as Freya and Loki would accompany him by using their shape shifting powers to appear as one of Freya's more widely known handmaidens, in order to trick their way into the frost giant's castle (surprisingly it was Heimdal who suggested this plan, not Loki). Upon their arrival Thor (again, dressed as Freya) managed to convince the frost giant to bring out Mjolnir and let "her" see it, though not until after some silly moments where Thor very nearly blows his cover but the frost giant is apparently too stupid to notice, at which point Thor revealed himself and killed the frost giant using his hammer.
In the frost giant's defense, he thought a buff strong bride was hot XD
The only surprising part of that story is that it wasn't Loki's idea
As a history major I thank you, I didn't even know about this, and I study mythology specifically!!
Marvel's Thor movies should have had someone show him the Eddas, or at least the Wiki page on Norse myths, and then Thor goes through them like "No, Loki's my brother, not Odin's, and who's Hel? Oh man, they still talk about that time when I was younger and thought goats were awesome... Hey I remember this, funniest thing me and Loki ever did, even though mom grounded us for a century for ruining her dress."
Thank you for sharing one of my favourite myths from Norse Mythology!
Though I remember it as the Jotunn being so enamored by Thor-Freya and the status this marriage would give him, that Loki or Thor managed to convince him to show this great boon to his new bride, so she could see what a great husband she'd gained
Sudenote, I use Jotunn instead of "Frost Giant as I hate the "Frost Giant" translation. The translation makes no fucking sense to me, as Jotunns are completely different from any type of giant in Norse Mythology.

In regards to them both being the same. The first character is Lucoa from "Miss Kobayashi's Dragonmaid" and she is actually a dragon, her full name is Quetzalcoatl which is the name of a mythical creature which is essentially a dragon serpent, usually with feathers. Rayquaza's design and lore is somewhat based on the same creature apparently.
Yup. And I'm hoping OT sees your explanation. Why leave people out of a cleaver joke?
I honestly came into the comments hoping that someone had explained cuz it was too funny for ot not to get xD

I laughed so hard when you realized that Brock's only 15 🤣Yeah, he became the gym leader AND had to start caring for his nine younger siblings completely by himself because his father just. left. just up and left his ten kids alone in Pewter City. So Brock learned how to cook, battle, and take care of practically almost-infant children completely by himself. So many things about Pokémon are disturbing when you factor in their canonical ages.

20:25 theres a whole bit in bojack horseman season 6 where diane is trying to write a book about her trauma and refurences kintsugi and during the season we see her mental collapse and struggle to translate the the bad the shitty things that happened to her into a book and and her boyfriend suggesting she gets antidepresants. eventually she has a breakdown and cry's to him "i want to be a beatiful salad bowl!" its sweet because he just comforts her, obviously he has no idea what she is taking about because it was all internal but he just hugs her and says"you are a- beautiful salad bowl"
later on he needs to go out of town for a long while for work and diane struggles a lot with her mental health. by the end of the episode though she has chosen to take guy's advice and starts taking the meds. when he comes back in the airport we see that diane has a new jacket (for the first time ever) and has gained weight (something she said she was scared about to guy) and guy is so happy to see her. unlike literally every other show that ive seen the weight gain is never played as a joke and never a negative for the character. its a symbol that shes getting better and healthier, she doesnt write a painful autobiography about her trauma she just excepts how it shaped her into the person she loves to be. of course the antidepresants dont work straight away but you can see that shes GETTING better.
anyway my point is a) bojack is an amazing and heartwrenching show that desplays mental illness in the most progressive way ive ever seen and everyone should watch it (it takes a couple episodes to take off but once it starts being good it only gets better) b) everyone needs a person like guy who is undyingly supportive and offers you advice without demanding you take it all without becoming your therapist and loosing your good dynamic you had. finally most importantly c) kintsugi is a process of mending cracks with gold to make the ceramic more beautiful than ever before. it isnt turnig a profit from a bad event. its best to heal and understand yourself to mend the cracks left by trauma than to try and carry on as a broken salad bowl.
ps: sorry that thats kinda hugely unrelated to the topic of the video but i just wanted to say it as the metaphor helped me a lot and i sorta wanted to spread the word

The tea post is an absolute instant classic. I reblog it every time I see it.
Edit: Noooo, "the poor grooms bride is uhhh...Thor" isn't the whole thingggg!!
The post chain goes on to describe the story of how Thor disguised himself as Freya (no, he didn't even shave his beard or change his voice or anything) to "marry" the king of the giants, so that he could steal back Mjolnir, which had been stolen while he was sleeping due to him not hearing the giant sneaking into his room over his own thunderous snoring.
So Thor gets all dressed up as Freya in a pretty gown and veil, with Freya's necklace on, and her symbols, and a bunch of gods from other pantheons have a laugh at his expense, and Loki agrees to dress as his bridesmaid, and help him deceive Thrym, the giant king.
They're greeted with a feast, and Thor eats the fuck out some food, eating huge portions that make the giants look twice, and Loki is just sitting there making excuses like, "Freya was so excited for her wedding that she couldn't eat or drink for eight whole days!"
And Thrym says, "What a sweetheart! Let me kiss her," and lifts the veil. Doesn't blink at the beard, but Thor is GLARING, and the giant king startles a bit at that, and says, "What bride ever had eyes so red, a brow so furled, and lips so drawling?”
And Loki, well Loki is quick and says, "So excited, she was, that she didn't sleep a wink for eight whole days!"
"What a darling!" The king exclaims, and then he asks for Mjolnir to be brought out and placed in "Freya's" lap, so that their wedding may commence and be blessed.
The very moment the hammer was placed in his lap, Thor threw off the veil, and still dressed in jewels and a flowing gown, he killed every giant in the room.
I cannot overstate my love for this story.

when i heard "biggest lie i was told as a Canadian child" i knew instantly what was coming next :D
As someone who’s on tumblr, it’s seen the vast majority of these and I’m glad y’all get to enjoy them too now
Yeah, I could not WAIT for him to read out the French vowels one 😂
16:35 Yes, and Ash died 5 times in the movies. Everyone cried while watching the first movie.
knowing OT's grandma watches his videos is the sweetest thing i've heard all week (btw welcome back, OT!)
Actually, for plants, you generally want to give them room temperature or slightly warm water because you don't want to shock the roots. So the shower couldn't be hot, but it could he "comfortable"
its been such a long time since i found a channel with content i loved so much i wanted to just binge watch the whole channel thank you for existing.
the sad about OT looking at r/tumblr is that I've already seen at least 90% of the posts he reads/reacts to because I use Tumblr as my main social media, but the good part is I still get to see his reactions
That shower garden reminded me of how I once got into my shower, turned the faucet on and then noticed a terrified spider trying to escape the sudden flood. I obviously turned the water off, picked up a piece of paper and carried the poor fella out. I've since always checked my shower for rogue spiders. I consider them housemates, and would never intentionally cause them harm. I have a small family of very pretty green spiders residing in my bathroom / hall area. But no garden though. I need to look into that.
I grew up with a mother who has arachnophobia. Her fear response is to kill them with prejudice. If a spider is in the home and has been seen it has made a probably fatal error. If they are outside then we don't mind them as much, "stay out of our way and we stay out of yours" sort of thing.
@@TheFoxfiend I used to do this with bees, wasps and moths, but I've got better with not killing them. What helped me was moving into an old house, where there are always moths getting inside, so I just stopped caring after a while. But an added benefit of the spiders is that at least some moths become their meal.
I'm not even done and I've been laughing out loud so much. Definitely need more Tumblr content.
12:05 if i eat all of the cheeses in 5 minutes does that mean i just wait 12 hours and get to go home?
18:54 OT was the target audience
16:05 - "Alright gang, let's huddle up and do some soul searching"
Bestie, they put the message about not trusting every show you see at the end (about house hippo)
I literally still show people that House Hippo commercial. It is important and people need to understand the trauma
As a Scot who drinks a lot of tea, that first set of posts will never cease to upset 😔
OT, I just discovered you, Human 1, and Click about a month ago and I have to say thank you so much for being you. You make this pan ace single dad feel seen. I’m bummed though because I really want a plushy but they aren’t available anywhere.
Please never stop doing what you do! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Don’t tell anyone but I’ll put out more plushies again, relatively soon, and MIGHT even get a chance to release a handful of the old ones 💜
Thanks for hanging out. I just make goofy stuff - I’m glad you like it

Your my comfort RUclipsr, my mental health is shitty rn and I need this so much
There was a UK version of the house hippo advert narrated like a David Attenborough documentary and the advert was about being media smart. "Asking questions asked what you see is called being media smart" was the thing at the end
For mental health month (I think it’s like September or October), my old hometown had 2 groups come in so members could give speeches to the burrough council about mental health and recovery. One group had something to do with supporting addicts in their recovery and the other was a group I went to- basically a group therapy thing. I had been to 1 or 2 of these, and I decided I wanted to speak at the next one, but didn’t know what. Then I learned about kintsugi and researching it out of curiosity, I somehow made a connection to mental health with it. So I had 3 pages written front to back on the history of kintsugi and how it can be related to mental health. I talked about how the differ techniques are like different things people can do to improve their mental health and how the human mentality is fragile, but it’s hard to break it beyond repair. They liked it and asked a lot of questions about it and a local news paper reporter even asked for the spelling for the different Japanese words. Idk if it ever made it to the news paper, but I was happy people liked my rambling thoughts.
Reminder that all of y'all are valid and deserve to be happy. Stay safe, eat food, put tea in hot water, destroy gender norms (or don't if you like fittin them, or do if you don't like the pressure but still enjoy them), drink water and get sleep.
Based eldritch Abomination
Well said as always, good bean. I'd add "For goodness' sake, do invest in an electric kettle!" Tea, coffee, ramen... the possibilities!
That first reblog also has a Shakespeare interpretation, because someone commented that it sounded like one of those minor comical dialogues in Shakespeare's plays. (I love tumblr's weird ass interactions.)
The reverse flashlights thing reminds me of one bit in an Adventure Time episode when a character said "turn on the dark."
Also "you know Fred is going through it with his dad right now," reminds me of Mystery Incorporated.
God I’d love if r/tumblr was covered more by people it’s so funny I love it dearly 😭😭
I want more people to cut out the middleman and just read Tumblr posts, like PM Seymour does.
"My grandma watches these videos" followed by "good top, bad top" is certainly entertaining to see
The little roly poly scream, OMG I didn't expect that at all and I banged my head on the desk so hard
I'm not even Canadian and as soon as you starting talking about the biggest lie you were told as a Canadian child I started gleefully shouting (and it's almost 2 am) "House Hippos! House Hippos!"
I also believe that bisexual is the "default setting" or most common orientation. Don't most ancient mythologies have bisexual elements in them?
/Welcome back OT. You look very good in a t-shirt :)
I mean, everyone is born aroace, just not all of us stay that cool.
That's one of those things that seems so obvious once it occurs to you that it takes work to argue against it. Even in cultures rife with homophobia, people who don't identify as gay, do a lot of same sex sexual activity. It's all just lies we tell ourselves that prevent a lot of people from engaging with their feelings and behavior in a healthy way.
ancient cultures in general had sexual practices we would call bisexual
but to them they didnt necessarily have a set term
it was just a thibg that existed that u had pederasty in greece and italy and shudo in japan etc etc
not in all social categories of societies but also not to be interpreted with today's feelings and using today's terms too much
we werent in their head living with them and calling something with our modern words will never fully capture the complexities of older lgbtq+ adjacent experiences
An interesting theory The Click had, or rather, something he was curious about, is how many people are actually bi, but are so deep in the "straight/gay" duality that they think that their gay thoughts are normal, and they choose to not give in and be attracted to the opposite sex instead.
10:55 someone use this then dye the pool red. Imagine a period party
😂 I just KNEW the house hippo was going to make an appearance as soon as I heard “the lie that every Canadian child was told”. I LOST it. 🤣
any time someone asks me a question i answer them "wouldn't you like to know weatherboy" and it's honestly a coin toss as to whether they get the answer after that. thank you for making me insufferable OT
