Hey, OT! Just to let you know, that anime clip with the rabbit is actually real! The company that dubbed it was told that because the show wasn’t very successful, the dubbing could do anything it wanted to as long as it kept the names of the characters from the original show. This meant that the dubbing company could go buckwild and make all of the crazy jokes they wanted!
The show is called Ghost Stories for those that want to know.

Ghost stories dub is so hilarious! I heard that it was successful in Japan, but the first dub was a horrible flop, so that is why they let another dubbing company do whatever they want with it.
I've decided that intentional cringe is an art. If you disagree, I hope you agree that it is, at the very least, artful. That guy does it so well.

I'm autistic and that tone thing... there are a lot of things I want to say but cannot without it sounding... well.. cringe, or weird, or sarcastic / condescending. And it impacts my life in weird ways :
1) people always assume that I am nonchalant and when I ask for help, or encouragment, they think I'm lazy or don't care, the truth is I am very anxious and probably care too much.
2) I find myself refraining from saying certain stuff because I know I can't.
3) I could never make creole sound natural in my mouth and I don't know why... figured the accent is similar to a slang only cool people can talk, with the right attitude you know, and I can't do that.

I'm autistic but overly expressive. I work management at a restaurant, so I've had to really learn the "customer service voice". I guess it sounds robotic or something because people tell me I sound like a flight attendant or GPS 💀

I already get uncomfortable from employees in the shop approaching me to ask if I need any help. I'm so glad they never tried Greeters in the Netherlands. Not that it would work here. Most supermarkets nowadays have self-checkouts as people prefer them over awkward encounters at the regular checkouts

Man, every time I see someone use that clip of Naia from the documentary where she's like "On every level except physical, I am a wolf" it makes me sad. I've talked to her and she's actually a really sweet and thoughtful person. Feels bad seeing her mocked even after all these years.

My boyfriend is black and I was hanging out with him and his sister, this also happens to queer people (I am very openly queer and trans), so every few minutes at this event we went to we would turn and see the social media team with their cameras lol

I wish they had laughed! Then said something like “don’t worry, store protocol has been covered, we’re on our own now”. Might have made the customer more comfortable. Friendly laughter is the absolute best way to get rid of any awkwardness.

OT, the anime with the talking bunny is very real. It’s called Ghost Stories. The Japanese anime bombed so hard the dubbers got to do whatever they wanted with it and the resulting content was so funny and dark it became infamous.
Edit: now that I’ve gone and googled it I am incorrect and fell victim to internet Mythos, no one is quite sure why Ghost Stories got changed but it was commercially successful in the Japanese version. The myth about it being a bomb is probably just a result of the director, Steven Foster, being an attention seeker. The theory I think has more credence is that the dubbing studio thought most of it wouldn’t go over well with Western audiences and had him go nuts.
What I heard was that the dubbers had incomplete scripts sent to them with little translations, so it was one big improv fun time with the VAs.
But it seems there are many rumors, so who knows what's real.
I know that with Samurai Pizza Cats they just dead-ass never got sent a script, maybe something similar happened here

I'm learning Greek and they do the same thing where they pronounce the English loanword based on how they would spell it in Greek. For example, they pronounce hamburger like hambourger with the ou of soup as Greek doesn't have that u in burger. It gets really funny with the names of English celebrities as they're also spelled with the letters and sounds Greek has available

@@waffles3629 I imagine it's probably similar to many other social media platforms, where racists and -phobes of various kinds falsely report stuff they consider to be against their views. Anything that can be considered LGBTQ content that gets flagged in particular can struggle to get those "violations" repealed and we can really only speculate on the reasons why as nobody outside of the employees at the social media companies are usually given any information at all on judgements. Stuff either stays banned or gets repealed, without any justifications given either way and usually no info on why it was considered a violation in the first place. The statistics though tend to show a broad bias against allowing queer content to exist online, and it's pretty well known that there are groups out there who mass report stuff to exploit reporting systems to get content taken down.
With TikTok specifically, you could maybe speculate that the Chinese government's views on LGBT people have something to do with it, as TikTok is owned by a Chinese company, and the government has strict control over what companies can do in the country, but I would be surprised if that's the case. It's much more likely that he's been the victim of mass reporting by people who get upset at anything that is friendly towards minorities, or something similar.

Back in the 80s, there was a program, the Little Pepper ID Cards, that was basically that "If I go missing" binder. It was sponsored by Dr. Pepper. They would get a card with your fingerprints, and then take pictures of you making different expressions (or maybe it was a video). They were filming a commercial to advertise it. The day before they were supposed to shoot, the kids they had hired to star in the commercial both got chicken pox. So they were looking for last minute replacements. They needed siblings, a boy and a girl, between 7 - 12. My aunt worked for 7-Up Bottling (who produces Dr. Pepper). She suggested my sister and I. So we got to be in a commercial. They told us to look happy, then sad, then embarrassed, etc. Let's just say, there's a reason my acting career began and ended there. 😐😐😐😐

I turned 40 this week, and I realised I was Aroace in the last 3 years. OT and Click and others really do help normalise ourselves to ourselves (sic). My dad is 75 and has a friend who just transitioned. Surprised the hell out of her wife when she came out as trans, but quite honestly it’s just wonderful that people feel comfortable opening up in our world today. Everything just makes a lot more sense these days, even tho I’m almost too old to recalibrate my reflexive pronoun assumption system 😂 I just apologise each time I slip up.
For anyone who might be too young to realise: some of us lived in a time when it was NOT considered a hate crime to attack someone BECAUSE they were LGBTQAI+. Hell, back then we just called everything “Gay”…

My developmental delay already makes me feel like I'm behind everyone else, and I typically hear stories about people discovering they were queer at an early age (middle school, teens, etc), so this makes me feel better.

For what it's worth, while hair and eye color genetics are a lot more complicated than simply dominant vs recessive, odds are good that if some of the Asian Lady Army X Chads children had kids with other Asian Lady Army X Chads children (ones with different sets of parents obviously) at least a few of the children would likely wind up with some shade of blonde and/or blue or eyes, though they'd still be outnumbered by the dark haired and dark eyed children. The traits would be unlikely to disappear entirely, they'd just become less common, and the Chad species would still simply be absorbed and assimilated into the larger population, kinda like how modern humans absorbed the Neanderthals

Untrue. The show was very successful in Japan, but the original dub didn’t succeed over here. So they made a second dub and just let them do whatever. And now they’re bringing the second dub over to Japan.

I typically avoid any subreddits labled as cringe, because I know I'm exactly the kind of person that would end up on there.
I'm sex and romance repulsed aroace agender with 2 queerplatonic partners and a strong sense of platonic, sensual, and aesthetic attraction, I use neopronouns (and I like a lot of them, including a smalll handful of nounpronouns), I have ADHD, I wear J-fashion like decora kei and lolita and ouji fashion, I like to wear elf ears and horns out in public just for fun and I think it looks cool and makes me feel good about myself, I listen to vocaloid music and some admittedly edgy music and video game soundtracks, I still love stuffed animals, Sonic the Hedgehog was my special interest for years when I was younger, and I still have a deep fondness for the franchise, I like watching cosplay videos, I have hundreds of OCs and like to rp, and you know I still hold a fondness for the wild and edgy OCs I made in middle school, I have nothing against xenogender users, furries, and otherkin and think they deserve to live in peace and they aren't hurting anyone and I will defend them, in fact I actually find xenogenders more helpful than other types of genders in giving me some sort of understanding of what in the world that actually means, and just generally how I express myself.
And, yeah, I'm cringe, but I'm free. But I don't need that kind of negativity in my life.

The correct interpretation of a yellow light is "stop if it is safe". That is, if you have to spike your brakes, you're supposed to go, but if you can come to a gentle stop, you're supposed to stop. You need a reason to go, not a reason to stop. Even my very non-thorough driver's ed covered this.

In fact, in my life I had many moments where I was very closed minded and not very friendly with groups of people, but in several cases I was part of the group and didn't even know it, I think that in the end I just I was misinformed and desperate for attention and looking for ways to fit in with people, so I'm glad my thoughts evolved.

As a fellow autistic but one who has learned how to detect sarcasm fairly reliably, she sounds sarcastic in literally every line on every attempt. OT sounds effortlessly sincere and genuine. He doesn't need to try very hard to sound genuine, because he's never not genuine.
3:00 that is the "official" English dub of Ghost Stories. The story behind that dub is legendary. The company that got the job of recording the English audio didn't get the translation until the last minute, and when they got it the translation was so thoroughly butchered as to be unusable. They didn't have enough time to get a better translation, and they already had the voice actors scheduled, so they just said F*** IT! They pretty much just let the voice actors make it up as they went along and do whatever they thought was funny. It's not even close to the original Japanese meanings, but it is funny as HELL.
They were also told to do whatever they could to make the show sell, since the original script was kinda bad.

But I also wanna start lifting weights again, and working out regularly. Being a tiny human being who’s too used to feeling unsafe, being fit and strong really gives me a sense of security and confidence.
