    The fiberglass consistency is your brown paint! 😅 Cool video as always!

      Thanks so much! Nothing will ever come close to “brown paint” - plus, I’ve confirmed with others that the fiberglass Bondo is indeed supposed to look like this! 😅

    Love your cabs in the background. IMHO if you don't have Donkey Kong you don't have a game room! 💯👍🙏

    Ripping caps out is fine. Done that years ago when fixing power supply units. Also for resistors, if you have a vertical clamping solution for the chassis, you can clamp it so both top and bottom are exposed, i.e., on its side, clip the leg of a dead resistor or diode and use small pliers to pull the leg out when applying heat to the solder joint.
    Now if I could find a nice simple way to remove soldered ICs without damaging them, quickly, would be great.

      I have some simple helping hands, but not a heavy duty PCB clamp. That's a good idea though. I sometimes prop up a PCB on a cardboard box when I'm working on it. For removing ICs, I often cut the legs off from the case and then remove each leg one by one...

    With all of the problems I’ve been having with various games these days it’s actually refreshing to see another person having problems, as well - misery love company. 😂 Great video, as usual… I’m looking forward to an update video once that part arrives.

      Haha, thanks! I think it's important to show the entire process, even the frustrating bits where things don't necessarily go as planned!

    if you ever do it again. I would drill a few holes in the aluminum to let some of the bondo to slip though. it should help keep it from de laminating over time and use.

    Stirring the bondo creates air bubbles, you have to fold it.

    Why did you sand the game cabinet. Why not use a stripper such as Orange Zip Strip? Love the fact that you plaid almost the entire intro music track. Dr. Mix is a synthesizer enthusiast. He is very creative, maybe he can create some montage music for your channel for little or no cost. anyway great video. could not stop watching.

      Don't know why Overtime chose not to but I wouldn't use a paint stripper on an absorbent material like particleboard or MDF because you can't wash it down without risk of damage and you can't guarantee it's not soaked in to the material which would cause major issues with new paint.

    • @overtimearcade
      @overtimearcade  2 месяца назад

      I had tried to strip the paint in a previous episode in this series, and it was fighting me tooth and nail. I was actually trying to just strip the black paint off to recover the original yellow, but I saw how badly the original yellow was damaged and made the decision to go down to bare wood.

      Yes, this is important to note too. MDF will soak up any liquid and expand into granola...

    the aluminum reinforcing isnt needed really , the fibreglass is the reinforcing, the aluminum may react with the catalyst in the bondo

    • @overtimearcade
      @overtimearcade  2 месяца назад

      I think the aluminum won’t react as long as I don’t use way too much hardener?

    Yeh its fine to rip out caps , But remember , Its not a race !!! Slow and steady wins the race. Too many mistakes when people rush (Reverse polarity ect).
