Been the recipient of a few necked GO7s and feel your pain it as I'm working on a Pengo that became a bootleg Ms Pacman. It's yoke to board connectors were broken up too,
I wonder if Pengo used an inverted image and maybe that’s why the yoke connector was split up?
Sad about the tube, keep an eye out for mid 90's RCA and Orion sets, they often have CR-23 compatible tubes.
Thanks, brother... I'm going to cryogenically freeze this necked tube in the hopes that they develop a cure someday...
@@overtimearcade did any of the phosphors get damaged, if it was a slow enough leak, it may can be re-vaccumed
@@Frog_Puppet I think the last shop that re-vacuums tubes closed a few years ago... 😢
Bummer about the tube, but lucky you had a spare so to speak. I was working on my newly restored TMNT cabinet last month and I bumped my head against the neck board. My heart sunk instantly, but somehow I didn’t neck the tube. The already brittle pin key did break so I’d like to replace it at some point, but I got lucky.
Wow, that’s a close call! I hope you immediately bought a powerball ticket!
That's the longest necking sound I've ever heard. Must have been a slow leak.
Excruciating
long enough to get it on film though.
Long enough to realize it was happening, snap out of the initial soul-crushing shock, then grab my phone and start recording. 😅
I saw on another channel a person who actually restores and repairs these monitors even though they have been necked. I don't remember the company but this person restores these tubes to factory, replacing the phosphorus and getting rid of the burn in.
Was it this one? I think they closed the repair facility 10+ years ago… 😞

@@overtimearcade Yes it was. that is too bad.
If and when I win Powerball, I plan on starting a new CRT factory…
I am torn on disliking this (due to the necking) or liking it for the info on tube swapping. Guess I will like the video due to the additional content. Hugs, brother!
Either way, it gooses my engagement metrics, so thanks! 😅
Boo! Hiss!!
Sorry about the tube.. Glad you've got spares!
One less tube left in the world… 😭
Name for the monitor transformer - Charlie's Monitor Juice Box
I like it!
I knew you would make it a success !! Once you open your made in the USA CRT factory down the road you can make up for the damaged one 🔧😎
Believe it or not, I was just organizing my garage and finally got around to measuring the ohms on another tube I got for free recently (same pickup as the Pengo & Dynamo cabs). It’s got a high-impedance yoke that should also be a drop-in replacement for a G07, with moderate Defender burn.
@@overtimearcade good deal! Do you prefer to work on a G07 vs say a 4900?
I like them both, but I’d probably give a slight edge to the 4900.
little hint on putting larger components on to a board , poster hanging blue tac, just stick it in place with that and tack a couple pads, makes things easier and no residue left behind and reusable
Great idea! I assume you put it around the base along the sides to hold it in place?
@@overtimearcade yessir thats the idea, once you have things tacked then remove it and finish up the solder joints
I like it!
I'm surprised it was taking that long to fill up. Ouch!
I'm guessing it was the tiniest little crack, possibly the seal from one of the neck pins. But that was enough to compromise the vacuum... 😔
Good save, cappy!
Thanks! I can’t believe I picked up a drop-in replacement tube for free randomly a couple of weeks ago. Must have been fate!
So you live in Northern VA?
I used to live in Fairfax VA, then moved to Myrtle Beach SC in early 2020.
Plenty of arcade machines to fix down here.
Yup, NoVa! Although living at the beach sounds more fun!
Good Job 👍🏼
Thanks, Jose!
Even worse when it happens to a electrohome g08 vector
You necked a G08?! 😱
@@overtimearcade my buddy did. Then he gave It to me
@toddmartin6572 What does he expect you to do with a necked tube??
*pain*
THE HORROR...
55:53 + Watch time en route!
You're allowed to watch it more than once -- as many times as you like, actually -- for FREE! 😂
Oh I’m sure that I will… Tube swaps and necking are part of my past present and future. More good content!
May your yokes always measure the correct impedance…
