Hey Nate, a couple of hints from a glider flyer (both rc and full size) is to look at your wings, as you enter a thermal one wing will lift more than the other. This points to the side that the thermal is on. Also a pure rudder turn introduces drag, instead a turn should be coordinated between both the rudder and the ailerons which results in zero slip, reduced drag and better performance. Great to see a glider on the channel. 😃
Out of planes I love a glider. Had one like 25yrs ago. It used a long rubber band. It was awesome flouting in the sky. Not even moving at times. Then we’ll it crashed lol. If I ever get a plane again it would be this one. Thank you guys. God bless
No, full flaps won't help you gliding. a few degrees once you hit the thermal and are curving it for some under camber on the wing, for even better effect mix in the ailerons too. And when you're chasing thermals you can give a few degrees up instead of down for some reflex and a faster glide. For landing you mix "full crow". Flap full down and ailerons full up. That'll take you down nice and steep. For flat curving in a thermal use rudder to turn in, and opposite aileron.
A lot of these new foam glider's have camber built into the wing. But you are correct. If you watch cockpit flight videos of glider pilots they can set their flaps pretty much anywhere... Seen some where it's just a friction lock slide bar.
That would be an amazing foundation for a long range FPV plane.
Couldn't agree more about the birds. If I get out to our club field early mid morning I usually bring my powered glider. We have some large birds that thermal around our field. If their up my glider is first thing to go up. I find I have a better day of flying that way as well. Nothing like a glider to make you learn how to manage the energy of your aircraft!

A perfect plane to practice that right hand toss I mentioned! You’ll find a smooth toss (dominant hand) takes less effort to correct so the time to get back on the sticks is moot. No more harping from me! This is just a good plane to work it out with so…

In a thermal you only need 2 or 3 degrees of flap full flaps increase drag. On landing 80 degrees of flap 20 degrees of up aleron crow braking.

Have you guys tried glider flying for real? If not, I guarantee you will love it! I started gliding last summer, and I constantly kick myself for not taking it up sooner! This model is a pretty good copy of the original (except no prop on the front, obvs!), the Allstar SZD-54 "Perkoz". We have one at our gliding club, which I get to fly occasionally! If you've not been up yet, book yourself a trial flight! In the meantime, while my Conscendo still brings huge joy, this is the next RC plane on my shopping list!

Sunday I took out my Arrows boat for the first time, definitely not disappointed! Not the bladder one( would be neat to watch it flip first hand thought) definitely looking to get more batteries for that.

Thanks for the video! It looks like a great plane. We have the eagles or the hawks we watch for. I was flying last week with 5 eagles. One was chasing me in my 2M night radian. I wish it had Ailerons and flaps in it like that one.

Another aircraft manufactured in China by Arrows-Hobby and distributed in the US by Hobby Zone, Eden Prairie, Minnesota ( MN ). Current; as of 12 March 2023 price is 209.99 USD . Reminds me of the HobbyKing " Walrus " but, this one, at a higher price & bigger size.
And a much higher level of quality! We’ve known three people with either the Walrus, or the Night Walrus and it was extremely low quality compared to this. Not sure what to say about this being manufactured in China. If we did have a US manufacturer of RC planes, no one would be willing to pay what would be required to make it happen. Happy Flying! 👍😎⚓️
@@TheRcSaylors I got back into RC after a 15-year hiatus due to earlier costs. A friend introduced me to HobbyKing ( HK ) and that's how I was able to afford the dive back in. Like anything, you have to pick-&-choose for quality vs price. I haven't owned the Walrus but the HK Bixler has been fantastic quality @ a great price !
You two may also want to connect with Value Hobby which I mentioned in another of your videos. They are also mom & pop on the lower economic end. ... Located in the Chicago area.

Yep it's super easy. Just got mine a few weeks ago and it takes me about 5 minutes to get the plane together from the box. Always put it back in the box when I'm done too

Hey buddy not a put down just a tip. You need to focus on being smoother on your elevator for sure. The Arrows 540 the few planes before that including the Viper 90mm you hit the ground with and this one look very pitchy up and down and I know these planes are not. So it's you on the stick not being very smooth. I notice when you do your low close passes you get very aggressive with the elevator. Not sure if anyone's brought it up but it's very noticeable. Just don't want to see you smack the ground anymore. And it would help the planes video presence look much nicer. Keep the videos coming always enjoy watching. Please take it as a tip to work on not a downer or hit on your flying. Doing wonderful just a bit heavy with the elevator. Up down up down on the stick.
i am looking for a great plane more than 2 meters which would fly a bit like the conscendo evolution with the same sensations. opportunities to also do acrobatics. can this plane do it?

All glider wings pop out from the fuselage with carbon fiber wing spars for support . It’s portable and strong enough .

Have you tried some smaller planes that don’t require as much space? Or considered moving? We literally moved to a location that could support our hobby. Bold move, but you might be a lot happier if you did!
FULL flaps trying to catch a thermal?
Full flaps is like airbrakes and will reduce the glide significantly. Best glide is without flaps, but if you need to be slow and tight in the turns you could use a tiny bit of flaps. Never full flaps. You should also try to fly it like a glider, this is not a hotliner... It is a glider, and gliders are supposed to be able to find lift and climb without using the engine... Enable the ESC-brake and shut that throttle, stay away from the flaps and have fun... 😊

I have A diamond 2500 glider that has 8 foot wing span It Probably at least 8 to 10 years old ..its never been flown so its still new ..problem is I am just too scared to fly it ..Are you familiar with this plane at all ?..this plane here is the exact copy of it ....but has a wider wing span ..!..Any thoughts you can share . with me ..? Says 10-15 minute flight hit time, is that with running the propeller the whole time? I’m used to flying winched gliders and flying for almost an hour just gliding. What’s the real speculative flight time if you actually know how to glide an airplane?

Extremely well. Previous videos we’ve done of this have been on windy days. Flys like a kite, but also can cut through the wind well 👍😁😎⚓️

Man! If you'd just stop yanking the elevator though... You been flying in SAFE mode too long. Also it would help a lot if you turned the ESC brake on.

That’s ALWAYS a tough question without knowing your skills! I’ve trained older folks who NEVER got it and I trained a kid who landed on his fourth flight on a glow balsa trainer with “old school” equipment. Where do you “think” you fit in this skill set? This plane would work for many as a first but a lot of folks will be better with self correcting planes if no help is available.
@@kmatch1 @rcsaylors so what would be a good first airplane for someone with absolutely ZERO flying experience? I’ve been looking at the FMS Easy Trainer and a simulator program like Aerofly RC8 (I have a Mac so can’t use Real Flight). I live on a sand dune in coastal Oregon that’s always breezy, so I think conditions would be perfect for a glider. I’ve been unable to find any flyers in my area, so I’m on my own…😀
@@kevinmoore994 I can’t speak on the fms. It may be perfect but I just don’t know about it.
My go-tos are always Spektrum planes with SAFE built in for a beginner with no instructor help. The Carbon Cub S2 (I don’t recommend the gps!) is about as good of a first plane there ever was! The Timbers are decent. Avoid the X for now. The Aeroscout can take a bit more abuse, is easier to land due to gear layout, but is a bit faster in the air. For wind the Aeroscout is my top pick out of these. I haven’t flown the base model Habu but in a windier environment it would be high on my beginner list as well just based on its design.
Any sim is better than none. I also encourage a sim with “wind” options as it takes out some the the sim AI and ads a touch of real world unexpecteds.
Most of these planes can be seen on my channel in just general goofing off. The Aeroscout vid is a bit unfair as it is overworked with floats but it’s there as well. The cub is shown with an absolute beginner who has issues with a sim and can’t fly on it yet she has several less than graceful, but wheels down landings on the cub along with several fine landings. Only one broken prop out of several flights.

No spring on the prop blades, they will drag and break
Is this opinion or direct experience on this glider?
Hardly like to break as they fold back when you lower the throttle to its lowest position, the motor has an electronic brake which stops the motor and allows the prop blades to fold back because of the air flow going past the nose.
I still got my Q333A I've hardly flown it I don't want to damage it , you don't seem to be interested in drones anymore
spec and design all looks good, however I would be very disappointed in how twitchy and speed hungry it is for such a large wing area / weight - shouldnt need to throw out full flaps to thermal and even then too fast - very pitch sensitive

@@TheRcSaylors ok If reviewing a plane it is probably best to try and demonstrate its weaknesses / limits rather than glossing over using experience - eg tip stalling when using med / steep bank at low speeds - find the limit rather than adding power to 'make sure it doesnt do it'
In the case of gliders, keep bleeding speed off and adding a 'thermalling style' steep bank combo to establish limit with and without flaps ?
Be interesting to see this model with flight stability and less elevator authority
Remember, if you are demonstrating a model, rather than your skills - fly within the designs typical usage parameters - So, with a glider, it is all about slow economic flight and efficient steep banked turns - would be more appropriate to try and kite it into wind than 'buzz the tower' :)

Where is boat week
We’ve already done a first official boat week on our channel just a couple short weeks ago and plan on doing another as soon as the weather warms back up again 👍😁😎⚓️
What would be cool is if you were able to get flexible solar panels and stick them on and be able to fly indefinitely. Idk why tesla cars dont do that.
Also would be cool to strap a phone to an airplane and use skype to see and possibly use it’s connection to give the plane unlimited distance.
Imagine sitting on your couch with a VR headset and flying hundreds of miles with solar charging. 😍
solar charging is more complicated then you are thinking, checkout rctestflight, he has done solar planes in the past. Its not simple as slap it on and it will fly forever
@@DivisionRc Ok,not forever but significantly extended. I just said it would be “cool”.Looks like the videos you referred show the potential of what I am talking about. With tweaks and further testing and more efficient panels/batteries coming out I’m sure it is possible to fly for extremely extended timeframes.
What do you think/know about the connection using phones and skype or something similar? Then at that point you could fly for a few hours, find a safe spot, land it and turn it back on a few hours later. It wouldn’t have to need to fly forever at that point.
I know there’s probably certain flying laws making the ability to find legal places to land hard.

Just having fun flying a toy. I had no idea there were rules. Wait, there aren’t any when it comes to flaps and thermals or no flaps and thermals! We tend to focus on one aspect other than safe flying, and that is Fun! I’m sure loops are frowned upon too, as well as low fly bys full throttle with a glider, right? Hey, it’s still fun! @@TheRcSaylorsDon’t take offense to the flaps criticism. Yes you can use your flaps. It’s yours. But I believe it’s more inefficient due to the drag. Also, thermals get stronger as the day progresses because they are solar powered. Although morning and evening thermals are easier to utilize often with these things. Thermals can get rowdy in the midday. No absolutes here.
Nice gliding, though you do tend more power on vs power off. Would be interesting to 👀 how it does w/out the tips. Also have you tried a 🔪 edge or did I miss it. So having the turkey 🦃vultures show you the thermals 🌬♨️🌬 do you bribe them with Roadkill deluxe🤔🤔❓🦨🦔🐿🐇. 😂😂😂😄😄🥴🥴🤭🤭😏😏.
