@@Elmamaguebo16 I had a stinger GT tell me he walks challengers and chargers. He swore he could run my scat pack challenger saying how heavy and slow they are. I admittedly thought he was trolling didn’t know what his car was. The stingers are no slouch but they brag about beating 5.7s so what’s the difference here when they go against the big boys.
This had me dying. 🤣 Sam lost the first race to the Challenger so the owner steps in with driving gloves and all just to lose each subsequent race as well.
haha.. Sam and I both won one against the Charger (my win wasn't recorded, fun race), but it comes down to these Dodge's Launch. good, we lose, bad, we win... Stinger is Driver mod proof, almost.. just have to hammer it and it grips and goes.. Dodge's have too much power to the wheels, so they need to learn to minimize slip and get her going.... They're 275 upgraded tires helped them grip too... They are beats !

@@AlienCreatureThing I did on some of them. Still will never win if the 392 gets grip on take off. I'll fair better.. but... my best time a strip so far is 12.954, with less than half tank of gas, in sport mode and 2nd best is 12.964 in eco mode.. scat packs can do lower tested by the pros !!

If you look up the stock specs of both the Stinger runs a 13.3 quarter mile which mens they are slower. Don't believe the hype. And by the way I havent lost to a Dodge or Camaro yet.
Well although I own a Stinger GT and really hoped the Stinger could at least keep up with the Dodges but I gotta say, V8 is still a V8. No replacement for displacement.
JB4 piggyback vs whatever NA mods you want on the Mopars and it's a nice close race if they get hooked. That day with a JB4 93 tune that stinger would have walked em' both, Sam knows what he talking about all the way down to the launch control being weak as hell.
The audi rs3 would like a word with you. There are 4 known rs3 hitting 1300hp out of a 5 cylinder motor. With big turbos and software tune ups. Hey Sam why don't you get an rs3 in the next video with this charge and challenger. Rs3 With 400hp it would be a better match . Or at least get a stinger with software update .piggy back that hits 400hp plus. To be fair.
Stinger owner here there no way he was getting his foot on the gas with the Stinger not once do I believe he was driving the car to it potential
@@phadethiss I don't understand this comment ?? the seat has forward adjustment so my foot went as far as it could. It doesn't go thru to the other side the in Flinstones. what 1/4 mile times are you getting if stock or when it was stock with your stinger ?.. Stinger owners need to appreciate these V8's if they grip, we're walked. ONLY reason we beat them 1/4 mile is because of our first few seconds jump on them.. These two both had 275 tires on them as well, which helped them launch.

I’m a Corvette guy, but the Stinger is pretty damn impressive car for the money IMHO…daily driver, grocery getter, good MPG, and lots of horsepower when desired. 👍🏻

I picked up a Stinger GT AWD today after test driving one. I was impressed. I owned a Charger RT and a Challenger TA392 and currently have a Supra A91-CF gor those nice summer days. I got the stinger for a daily driver as it can be drove, and aggressively, year round here in Wi being awd, so at least half the time of the year itll easily beat out the scat packs due to poor road conditions. The stinger is a very practical car for someone who lives up north and still enjoys performance in a vehicle without spending $80,000++
the GT2 will be my next car in about 3 years, fucking love it, obviously if and when a new one comes out i’ll pick that, I’ll just trade my car $25,000-27,000 in and maybe put $1,000 down the monthly payment would only be like $400 or so

Haha. I hear the same from Stinger or Elentra owners about how they gap 5.0s. A lot of times, I think they are racing me when I'm not racing them and calling that a win. V8 power, mod for mod, can't be touched unless you're going turbo S.

This was a gread video. When the Stinger came out there were numerous fictional videos of it eating Premium Mustang GT's and such.
This video was honest and clean. The Stingers are also really nice, and after I saw one in person I was amazed!👍🏾

The vid of the Stinger beating the Mustang wasn't fictional. It's just that it was that it was on a road surface that wasn't ideal, so the Mustang struggled to put down power

Great video. Love the 392s and the Stinger. One thing you forgot to mention is that the Stinger GT2 is almost 400 pounds lighter then the Charger. However even being lighter the horsepower to weight ratio of the Stinger is .0914. The Charger/Challenger ratio is .1102. So the Stinger would have to make up to 450hp to have a similar ratio as the Mopar's. No replacement for displacement unless you win big on weight.
425Hp tune with a good launch might give those 392 problems...

@@zronllc3192 Simply put in the Stinger we can easily put a tune on and be extremely competitive with a 392 or scat. I was fully stock with a JB4 and e30 tune. Me 4 deep went door to door with a 392 charger with 2 people. I thought it was impressive. Unknown his mods but seemed like bolt-ons.
Stinger GT owner. I’m running a JB4 on map 5 on “race” gas, big ass intercooler, catless downpipe, full exhaust with muffler delete & CAI. I’d put mine up against a 392 any day.

The Dodges make an extra 100 horse but, they're also 300 pounds heavier.
300 lbs isn't much for 100hp. That's amazing weight to power ratio. If the stinger had 100 more hp. They destroy the scat.
That 300 lbs wouldn't make that much difference in this instance in my opinion. That 100 hp is a big deal

Every race I’ve seen with the stinger vs a 392 has been with the 4100lb AWD GT and never the 3800 lb RWD GT. A challenger 392 only weighs 4200 lbs and a charger roughly and 4300-4400lbs. Power to weight ration the stinger is going to get gapped every single time, because the AWD is no less a boat than the Challengers and Chargers. I own a rwd base GT and all I’ve done is intakes and full exhaust and it’s easy to walk a 392 without any problems. Not saying my car is the fastest out there, but the weight advantage the GT RWD has over the GT AWD shows on the track. The AWD gets off the line a split second quicker, but the RWD eventually wins that race once that LSD does its thing.

Hearing those stingers are eating up 392's on the streets probably if modded, but also if the 392s dont have the correct tire setup etc. But stock for stock, on a good launch, the 392s will win regardless. My take! Nice review man! 😎👍

@@jakerandall6960 pushrod engines have way higher ceilings than the 3.3 GDI, why do you think top fuel dragsters are still using big block Chevy's. Its the whole eco boost vs 5.0 thing all over again, yeah stock for stock they're so close its driver error but if you're building each engine to its limit you'll end up cracking the 3.3 GDIs block before getting close to the 6.4 liters power.

If the scats hook on launch stinger has no chance shit a M340i quickest car in class have no chance. But usually on the street say at a light the scats tires are not sticky ready to go n they slip quick n stinger takes off. I’m curious if these scat drivers have upgraded bigger tires maybe 305s or somthin.

There are different types of Stinger GT. The base GT has 1 turbo, the GT2 has the twin turbo lol trust me, I've been looking to get one for a few months now

I don't know why anyone would have expected a different result than what we saw the stinger is giving up 100hp and 100 lb feet of torque and it's only about 140 lb lighter
Well when you RUclips these cars racing. The stinger wins like 50% of the time. So I was quiet surprised.

Finally, thank you for a fair comparison. Was tired of seeing the stock 6 dodge challengers against turbo 4s. A twin turbo v6 and a solid v8 6.4 scat. THAT was a gap. Challenger took that twin turbo for a walk.

@@jmkos86 The car interior is cheaply built, not confortable seats, way too stiff and has less than half the standard features available on the stinger. The back seats are awful and the boot of the car is nowhere near as big and useful as the stinger. With stinger you get so much more than just speed.
@@aono335 For the price tag its a good deal. I have the leather seats and navi, sooo much space compared to other sports vehicles. Very comfortable and affordable vehicle.
@@aono335 well obviously one is a nice sedan and the other is a beast of a muscle car. I have a challenger. For what it is, it’s a much more comfortable ride then either the mustang or camaro. It’s a much more roomier car and well…yeah…I don’t believe anybody goes after a scar pack Challenger for “comfort” or “nice seats”….they go for what was shown in the video. Sure the stinger is a nice, kia “luxury” car. You’re also talking about a $55k Kia to a $42k challenger with so much more potential under the hood. In my opinion, the genesis g70 top of the line is a better car then the stinger and cheaper but hey, I’m not gonna knock on what you said about the stinger having a sort of “nicer interior”. But I will challenge what you said about the challenger not being practical. Have you ever driven inside one? It’s really not that uncomfortable and you are once again comparing a sedan to a coupe.

I made a comment about it--in a modern AWD car--and I own a Stinger--there is no reason to fiddle with the traction control.BTW if you turn the traction control off while in gear--and go down the submenus--the dashboard will show he has it in sport--but go into the submenu and the shift pattern will be in comfort.Would not be surprised with all the fiddling he did if it was not shifting in comfort mode.BTW I already contacted cr and driver about a video--same thing they had an AWD stinger and were not running "good" laps--well when I froze a quick shot of the dashboard--lol--they were in comfort mode.BTW I also owned my Stinger for several months before knowing I could use the touchscreen and adjust the cars dynamics even further.Best thing to do unless you know exactly what you are doing is to simply put the car in sport mode and leave everything else alone--especially at a str8 line drag--if anything the computer will help because it will not allow any slippage

I decided to see what the Stinger was all about. Charger SP owner here. I test drove a loaded 2022 GT2 awd today. I was impressed with the grip and power. Very fun. I did not like the slight turbo lag having to floor it to spin it up. The Charger just goes from a simple jab of the light throttle. However, I would definitely consider a Stinger especially being AWD for winter driving. The one I drive had the dreaded hatch rattle thing. Super Annoying on rougher roads.

Man, even with the Parking Brake launch from the Stinger GT, the 392's were having a really good day with traction.
Only thing I can think of for the stock stinger is to take full manual control of the shifting with trac and stability off, and try to hold the revs out just that little bit longer.
But it seems like you guys had a really sticky surface out there for this one, and that's all those Scat packs needed.

yes, I will try the manual mode next time, but from my experience driving mine for 1.5 years, it's really no difference. Only 1st to 2nd and send to 3rd I could push closer to redline a 500 rpms more, 34r to 4th, it pretty much redlines on it's own. It doesn't upshift too early.. on the roll races, I was just in drive.. assuming we want to do a roll and go. but if I was in 2nd gear for the rolls, I'd have a bit better reaction time and get going, but only a insignificant difference.
Stinger, when hit it, really drops down kicks it down and goes... but I'll try manual on next runs. They wouldn't of won me any races here.
@Catholic Firefighter I know in the controlled tests the Scat pack is technically faster, and it seems like they were closer to those conditions that favor it for this race.
But the races get interesting when the surfaces are poorly maintained roads with cold tires.
The Scat pack is really only going to get those extremely fast numbers on super sport tires and prepped surfaces.
Meanwhile, there are awd Stingers on plain roads doing mid 12's with daily tires.
I don't think that's quite the performance we saw from the Stinger this go around, but that's also part of what makes it interesting.

Would have been curious to see if a widebody would have gapped the Stinger more considering it should have better grip on the launch. Also would have liked to see either Scat in Track mode. It didn't sound (to me) that they were using launch control either, which could have made the results a bit more interesting.
Have a 2020 Widebody Charger Scatpack and don't open it up on the road so rely on these videos to see what could be possible. :)

@@srb436 no it wont, RS5 is a lux cruiser, its quick but that 80k ass gonna get clapped easily by a 392. RS3 will do alot better. RS5 runs a 12.4 magazine time the 2021 scat pack challenger has done 11.7 thats ALOT faster.

Great Races !! Many will say many videos of Stingers beating Scat Pack and maybe its a drive mod here ? But Stingers can only ONLY beat Scat packs when those cars need a Driver Mod (realistically, new owner who hasn't learned how to launch it yet). Whenever this Car gets a Good launch with minimal slip, it's a Beast from the beginning and not only after it's too late... NOTE: both of these Scats had upgraded to 275 tires (Stock is 245 ?) for better launch grip, which I was like, oh shit, so that's not gonna help me be one of those videos that beat them... haha..if they grip, no stock Stinger can beat them... mostly the same issue with all the V8 it can take in 1/4 mile
@Catholic Firefighter yes, they are.. but even with stock tires, if the driver knows how to use the rpm limiting, adjusting feature in their car (if they have that feature), can assist in getting better launches and beat Stingers. they are the fast car.. that's why Car and Driver and motor trend can pull better times with the scat pack than Stinger.. Best drivers, the results are more accurate... are you a Stinger owner ?

Makes sense. Cuz I pull from a dig on scatpacks with 245 tires all the time on street roads. Also, the RWD version of the stinger is a bit faster than the AWD version. The base Stinger GT RWD is the fastest due to being the lightest.
@Catholic Firefighter when my widebody Scatpack challenger was stock, I ran 12.27, 12.28,12.27, and 12.32 in 2700 DA and 95. Degree weather. Published test numbers are 12.1. In better weather I could have definitely reached the published number of 12.1. I think what the previous person was trying to explain when he said rev limiting was the launch control. You set the rpm ( between 1200 and 3200 Rpm’s), floor the accelerator, and release the break when you want to launch. It works pretty good on the street, but will just start roasting the tires a couple seconds later if you don’t know what your doing.
The Ford Taurus Sho has the same hp as the Stinger but more torque and also comes with awd . I'd love to see who makes the faster v6

Why wasn’t Launch Control used on the Stinger? I didn’t see it on any of the comments that it was used. Seems to me that it might help, especially at launch.
Even when the Kia got the jump it still got ran down. It just does not have enough HP stock. Has to be a wet street for the Kia to shine.
