  • If you have filled up your harddrive or already don't have enough space for Logic Pro's sound library , then this video has the solution. Or, if you simply want to install more of the included sounds, make sure to check it out.
This video explains how to use the Sound Library Manager in Logic Pro X. I show the basics of how to manage and install sounds as well as how to relocate or move the sound library to an external hard-drive. I'd recommend using an SSD for this so that the sounds can load faster, but whatever you have should be a decent fit for it. Hope this is helpful and thanks for watching!

Thanks again! I was always “skeptical” (afraid) to try relocating the sound library. I wasn’t sure where it would go. But now I see it’s quite simple thanks to this video. All you need is an external drive.

@@kahlilthepiper hmm alright. You may need to uninstall the sound library, change the install location to your hard drive and then reinstall it

@@woodyardmusic Went to a few other channels and couldn't find any similar problems but maybe idk how to ask my question properly and you seem to be VERY responsive. Very admirable first of all but anyways, have you guys ever experienced this? I've got years of audio projects on my external HDD saved. I just plugged it into my m1 MacBook > Opened Logic > Logic Recognizes HDD > Searched for Logic Project > Opened Project > Project Opens and everything appears visually successful. The whole project looks like it's open and ready to play, edit, chop, etc.
The problem: If I push play, no audio is being read. It's not showing movement/clipping/nothing, the levels stay at zero and it just plays all the way through -silent-
It's almost like I've lost the core files to all of the audio, the vocal files are "available" to open, the loop recordings I have opened still drop down and seem to be there but I can't play them. I have mp3 files on the HDD also and they play straight out my Finder window so I know the HDD itself isn't corrupted. Any help is appreciated and if not totally cool lol

also worth noting, for anyone listening,
      1. I find the same result after copying the project file TO my desktop. They even still contain a pretty large file size, most of them so it must be there somehow.
2.These original projects were created via Logic x / 2013 iMac and this is my first time opening on Logic x m1 mb pro so quite the steep step but same DAW practically throughout
