This is very interesting list. Some surprises for me. I agree on being done with a lot of heaven hill releases. I am not buying any more Elijah Craig barrel proof store picks that are $100. If I see a marked up larceny barrel proof or Elijah Craig barrel proof I’m leaving those on the shelf as well. As of late, those are only good at the retail price. Luckily by me they’re never at retail so I won’t buy them. The four roses exclusion surprised me at first glance but after hearing the explanation it makes sense. Also I’m done with anything Ross & Squib or MGP.

I like the list except for the ECBP and the 1792 Sweet wheat. ECBP is what bourbon is supposed to taste like. Even the "bad" ones are better than 75% of the barrel proof stuff that's available. If you want to do a fun blind put 1792 sweet wheat up against Weller SR. I've done that blind with a bunch of guys that were hunting sweat wheat and after doing the blind they were done hunting for it. Cheers

I'm still figuring out what I like and dislike, but I'm getting there. I'm not too fond of high proof bourbons. Rare Breed is so good, but it's also hot. New Riff SB is amazing, but it's hot. Stagg is probably the best tasting bourbon I have. But it's so hot 130.2 proof. I like 100 proof or less. Probably won't replace my Rare Breed. I will get another Stagg if I find one at msrp. New Riff...yeah. I'm really enjoying finding out for sure.

One thing to remember with higher proof bourbons is you don’t have to drink them neat. With such a higher proof ice and water are your good friends. You can tailor your experience. Too much proof add a cube of ice. Still too much proof add another cube or tsp of water/club soda. With higher proof you can have fun. With 100 proof or below you’re at what the distiller wants the flavor to be which is good a lot of the time.
