You hit my favorite right off !! A liter of Very Old Barton 90 proof is $18.99 here in Central Iowa. I make a Manhattan with 2 ounces each Barton and Sweet Vermouth, then I add something I can't get anymore, an ounce of Cynar ! I bought the only 4 bottles available to me after I tried it in a Manhattan ! I am a 61 year old newbe to Bourbon and Whiskies. Last September , without prier experience became a bartender part time. I am now going to your Rye video I just found after My first shot of any Rye 2 weeks ago ! A fine experience with Knob Creek Rye,
The great thing about bourbon? There are so many good bottles to choose from every one of those categories. Did not see Early Times BIB in that $20-$30 range? Redwood Empire Pipe Dream and Lost Monarch are $29.99 by me. Cooper’s Craft 100 proof is fantastic for $32.99. Old Forester 1910 in the $40-$50 range and Old Forester 1920 in the $50-$60 range by me.
Redwood Empire is $39 by us, but if it was $29 locally, it would be in the list. Sounds like you have great pricing locally.
Super solid picks! Do love me some 1783 for under $20. Will say since Buffalo Trace changed their distribution, we have been seeing alot more of it in the southeast. Hope that is the same for anyone else that enjoys it. Nice Mavis high-5! Cheers!

Old Grand Dad 114 still sneaks in at a hair under $30. That has to be on the list, with the high rye and nearly cask strength.

Rare Breed is pound per pound top dog for me. Hard to beat in most situations and have never had anyone I shared with not like. Great pick.
Love the list except with two exceptions. I love all buffalo trace products except for Benchmark full proof. I just think it tastes weird. I also don’t like Chattanooga 111. I was super excited to get it and I was so disappointed. I’ve tried to go back to it but still can’t drink it.
I think this bottle is totally overlooked but also probably because it might be hard to get. Lost Republic single barrels are amazing!

Really polished presentation. Goodness, prices -- not to mention availability -- really do jump around based on geography. Someone here mentioned Blue Note and based on what I've read I'd sure like to try that.
I have zero arguments with any of these choices. Great list!! I will reach for that Beam profile or HH almost every time. Great call on the Bakers 7, it's such and underrated bottle. On the lower price point end, the 1793 from EW is always a solid choice. Cheers to the van!!
My heart loves that you picked Buffalo Trace for the $20-$30 range. Honestly, many of these are standards, ones that are always on our shelf. There’s a reason for it - they’re good and they’re available. Great job, guys!

Great list! I’m also a huge Old Forrester fan. My favorite? I just got a single barrel store pick @131.1 proof. It has a dark caramel flavor note that is fantastic

@@smac2047 I never did either. One of the local stores was lucky enough to get a pick and I happened in at the right time. That barrel lasted less than a week
I think Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Barrel Strength has to be on the list from $60-$70. Keep up the great shows.

Great video, great list. Another great reason to have OGD Bonded on the list is that I think its a great blending whiskey. I've added it to a number of various whiskies that were disappointing, and it almost always gives them a nice flavor boost.
We have never used OGD Bonded that way, but we will now! Great call, Nathan!

The Very Old Barton 90…… been hunting it for a long time….. the 86 & 100 are an easy find however.
Definitely Stagg at the ~$70.00 range.

I hadn’t heard about Heaven Hill 7yr coming to Oregon! That’s great news.
I did a blind with the Benchmark Bonded vs. Even Williams BIB and the Benchmark edged it out in the flavor dept with my palate, and I like typical bourbon notes and the sweeter profiles. The Benchmark was right there for flavor AND it was $2 cheaper in my area. The caveat is it is harder to find. Cheers!

These are all prices in my area (NC). I agreed with everything on your list. Of purse if we were to add regular whiskey and Tennessee whiskey, I would definitely have Jack Daniels in there. Great list. Thanks.
We wanted to put 1783 on our list so badly, but the price is $22 here all of a sudden. It's still a mainstay on our shelf and a heck of a value!

Good list guys. Some of them are not available and like you said prices vary a ton for different areas.
Under $20 for me right now is Four Roses yellow label which is a bit of a cheat because it is on sale for just under $20 right now but if it was not it would have to be EWBiB. 20-30 right now would be ECSB on sale if not it would be Jim Beam Double Oaked. 30-40 can be Woodford Reserve right now with Russel's Reserve 10Y close second. 40-50 is tough for me because there is not a ton of options I have tried so I would have to go with Buillett 10Y although I can get Four Roses single barrel right now in that price range. The 50-60 one is easy for me because we can get the OF1910 and 1920 in that range. I like the 1910 but the 1920 is a good option if you are in the mood for something proofier. I have to go with Penelope toasted in the 60-70 range and JDSBBP in the 70-100 range.

For $10-$20 category, I'm going with EW 1783 which I just picked up for $13.97 at Safeway in NorCal!
That's an amazing deal. We wanted to put 1783 on our list, but the price is $22 here all of a sudden. $14 is a steal!
Buffalo Trace is so yummy seeing it more here in Colorado just got a store pick from my liquor store here in Denver that's freaking amazing 😃🥃
One of my favorites is Jim Beam Single Barrel 108 proof and it is under $30 here in TN.
I’d have to throw in Four Roses (single barrel or small batch select) in there.

Russell’s Reserve Single Barrels at 70-100 is my first pick. But the smoke wagon is right next to it

Trail's End 10 definitely hits way above its price point. It's definitely getting easier to find and I prefer it over many of the other Toasted Bourbons
I was at a store yesterday and saw 3 diff Trails End incl. the 10 and didn't pull the trigger. They had a 1.75L WT 101($48) and it's a known quantity to me. I'll have to go back and p/u the Trails End 10 from all the + feedback.
And also, what do you think would be less spicy wheat, or rye bourbon?
Phil & Julie, how did you get the information that the Heaven Hill bottled in bond seven-year is now going to be available in Oregon. It’s really good whiskey. I was able to grab one when I was in Colorado thought/knew I over paid for it. But it was worth it!
When do you think this will hit the shelves?
I’m hoping that it comes to the OLCC and we can get this bottle.

We heard from somebody who works in a store and does the ordering. Between the holiday and the looming OLCC warehouse strike, we might be waiting a bit, but it is definitely on it's way.
Love Rare Breed Bourbon. What do you think of the Rare Breed Rye? There are times when I like the Rye better.
Wild Turkey 101 Rye beat up on the Rare Breed for us, but we still love it.
$20-$30 for me is Early Times BIB all day all night. 2nd place is not even in the same room.

Old Grandad is somewhat underrated at times. When I 1st tried it I was surprised, for the price it’s pretty solid. Haven’t found Still Austin in my area, I’m sure it’s findable, just need to keep up the hunt. Love SmokeWagon Small Batch. I need to cross state lines to find it but luckily that’s a pretty short drive. I’ve had most of these pours and can’t find fault with any of the ones I’ve tried. Chattanooga 111 is great. After bottle is empty And it sits. It gets malty and weird. Compared to when first opened

I like your list! I'm fairly experienced and still appreciate you being considerate and spelling out the brands/bottles. Little rant here, but not everyone knows (or has the desire) to translate JDSBBS or KC9 or WTRBR (yeah, I've seen that for the rye). It doesn't take much extra effort to make things accessible for people new to the hobby. Thanks for taking the time.

Evan Williams BiB is FAAAAAAAAR better than Benchmark Full proof. Full proof has an overwhelming amount of Cinnamon imo. But the Benchmark BiB - EXCELLENT choice. But honestly, I think I like the Benchmark Small batch just as much as the BiB - but the BM BiB def gives EW BiB a competition.

We totally agree. Of course, every time we're talking bourbon and we mention JDSBBP, people get upset because it's Tennessee whiskey and not bourbon...but we are with you. It deserves at least a mention on this list.
Maybe an odd question but what did you change for mics and audio recording in the last few months? It’s not bad, but totally different from old videos.

We were using some junky old lapel mics and an iPhone for a long time. We upgraded to a proper Yeti mic for indoors and RODE mic for outdoors. We're also running some video and audio redundancies because we had so many failures with the cheap equipment we started with.

We love it, but every time we mention it in a bourbon list, people come out of the woodwork to shout about it not being a bourbon, so we just let that sleeping dog lie these days.

For me in the $40-$50 range you can't beat Smoke Wagon the Younger. It's even better than UCUF! Also in this range I've got to include Blue Note Juke Joint. In $60-$70 it's Jack Daniels barrel strength. $20-$30 has to incude Early Times BIB.

OGD Bonded is a drain pour for me. One of the worst bottles I've ever bought. Why anyone would drink that swill is beyond me. lol OGD114 is a different story. Why isn't it on your list? I just picked up SW small batch for 44, and have found it for less than 40. 1920 and SW UU are 2 of my favorites, but I can usually find them in the 50-60 range.
OGD 114 isn’t on our list because we prefer the Bonded. Different strokes!

The lol didn't clue you in further? Are you incapable of reading between the lines, or do you need your butt wiped too. ;)
That being said, while whiskey preferences are inherently subjective--one should be able to discern quality beyond personal taste. I enjoy Mellow Corn occasionally. That doesn't negate the fact it's shite whiskey. As shite as it is, it's still 100x better than OGD BIB, ...IMHO (did capitalizing that make it clear enough for you, or do you need a safe space)
