Military-themed episodes of The Ranveer Show are always well-received. In this episode, we present Major Abhay Sapru, one of the most eloquent military veterans I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with. Para-SF podcasts are something that always blows my mind. Commissioned in 1988, Abhay Sapru volunteered for the elite Special Forces. During his decade-long stint with the Indian Army, he served in areas like Sri Lanka, Kashmir, and the North-East of India. He currently works for a private bank and alongside, is an established author, having written two novels about his combat experiences.
In this episode and my interaction with Major Abhay Sapru, we spoke about the situation in Sri Lanka, Tamil Nadu, what had really happened, and what it takes to be a part of the Special Forces. This commando is giving a wrong info. All the Tamil people who are fighting for Tamil Eelam(a separate country) from Srilanka never claimed any part of Tamilnadu or other parts of India. They only wanted to separate from Sri lanka. They did not claim any part of India.

be safe. But one night 2 Indian soldiers with turban armed and drunk came in temple trying to touch a girl but as she and people around challenged they opened fire on her chest and walked away from the area while she was bleeding 🩸

Honestly as an American, who’s done a lot of research on the Sri Lankan civil war the I think Tamil Tigers how they were organized and run in the early 90s would’ve been a nightmare for any conventional army on earth lol

@@faizalmemon1947 i think it would’ve been ruff especially pre war on terror 90s U.S. military they were one of those insurgent groups that focused so much on training their cadres (even their child soldiers) were more akin to qualified soldiers than a rag tag militia, with a flexible chain of command fighting in their home terf in a friendly country where you couldn’t use heavy weapons because of possible civilian casualties I think we would’ve lost a lot of guys sort of like a longer version of Lebanon. Probably better than the Indians because the INC had kept army command divided and double game with RAW which gave the ltte a intimate knowledge of the Indian army. But still it would’ve been a nightmare lol

I am so sorry to say Ranveer. This show was completely one sided. He failed to say what attrocoties the IPKF did to the local Jaffnas. Poor them they initially welcomed the Indian army with garlands and food. But IPKF did worse things than the Sri Lankan army did to the Jaffna locals. And that's why LTTE turned against the Indian army.
India helped Jaffna Tamils with food and medicines . Aid was sent by helicopter because Srilankan Navy blocked aid which were sent by Indian Navy

@@jithanarsha1987 During the wadamarachchi operation, the indian airforce airdropped stuff including rations and guns (just like US gave to ukraine not too much but just enough to fight the sri lankan army). It was a direct violation of sri lankan airspace... Then the accord happened and IPKF landed on the island followed by what u have said in ur first comment.

@Shekar Lakshman it was Indira Gandhiji who mobilized the support for LTTE in the first place. We should not forget that. After her demise Somehow Rajiv Gandhiji was cleverly trapped by then seasoned Sri Lankan rulers in the name of the accord. Though his intentions were good about setting tamil people peacefully but the signing of accord and sending IPKF was his fatal mistake.

Tamilians are the native people of SL.. even the Singalese Mahavamsa chronicle documented that Abandoned Prince Vijaya (First Sinhalese of SL) came from Eastern India and was welcomed by Tamils... My father served in IPKF (Assam Regiment). He called it the most dangerous engagement he ever had. Compared to Northeast and J&K where the police and administration is under the govt. Sri Lanka was the Wild West and the LTTE was really good at Counter Intelligence and many a times they became sitting ducks. My father said LTTE had the guts they didn't give a damn if we were Indian Army. Some still call it "India's Vietnam".

India avenged LTTE by ignoring their call for help in 2009 /10 when they faced their final moments. Killing Rajiv Gandhi was their worst decision. Even DMK didn't make much noise(despite being crucial in UPA) realising this avengers moment.

Prabhakaran actually comes from a well respected hindu family. His family managed a few Shiva Temples in their village. His favourite character is Karna from Mahabaratha. His father was a Gandhian follower who hated violence but Prabakaran liked and read more about Subash Chandra Bose and Baghat Singh.

Never forget at its height the IPKF had a 100 000 strong soldiers all from North Indian states like Punjab, UP, Haryana, Rajasthan (South Indian companies like the Madras regiment were forced by Sri Lankan government to go back to India as they did not want South Indians who might speak tamil speaking with Sri Lankan Tamils) stationed in Northern Sri Lanka. These 100 000 soldiers consistently lost and were beaten back and humiliated by less than 10 000 strong sri lankan tamil rebel groups. it was an international shame for India's military at the time, foreign press reported it as India's Vietnam despite have over 10x the soldiers +huge supply lines running from India and from Sri lankan government in south the IPKF did nothing but attack and harass Sri lankan tamil civilians which lead to rebel groups kicking them out of areas. This failure and humiliation to IPKF lead to huge reform in India's military resulting in the much stronger and competent and respected force we have today. Jai Hind! and big respect to Sri Lankan Tamils for not only fighting Indian forces but also larger Sri Lankan military forces for many years all alone.

The LTTE’s war to create a separate state for Tamils called Eelam proved a handy tool for Indira to work India into a role in Sri Lanka, but her mistake was to presume she could manage the conflict without letting it get out of hand.
My mother is still traumatized, whenever she hears a flight sound she gets scared , and she was 8 year old kid during that time and she experienced how would a battle field looks like as a normal person and she always cries on my lap sometimes because Indian army shot her friend in front of her.
But even though she didn't hate India bcoz after all this ,she came to India (Tamil Nadu,Chennai) by sea route and gave birth to me there in 2004 and lived there for 18 years ,now I'm 19 and living in Sri Lanka ,technically i should be an Indian ,but Indian government didnt provide me the citizenship just bcoz im ethically Sri lankan tamil ,all these years I thought i was an Indian, just imagine how i would feel right now, born and raised in India for 18 years and now im living in sri lanka ,that doesn't mean i hate Sri lanka but India is my mother...

I’m Sinhalese and I was born towards the end of the war (2003), the first school I went to had many Tamil kids and Tamil teachers as well as Sinhalese. I didn’t notice a thing, there was no racism or anything, maybe I was too young but I didn’t sense that at all given that the war had just ended, I even learnt Tamil in that school (I can’t speak it at all lol). Even today I have Tamil, Muslim and Sinhalese friends. I just hope that we respect each other and not fall into a useless war again. Love to all❤✌🏾🇱🇰

As a Tamil who living in north Jaffna, I could explain more what did this Indian (peace) keeping soldiers in our villages. They rapped our own sisters, mothers even pregnant women also. I had a bad experience. Even in Jaffna hospital they made shootout and killed more than 60 doctors nurses and patients. What is this ? This is the way you keep peace ? I can’t forget it. After that event exactly 8 years I go and join that same ltt.

This failure and humiliation to IPKF lead to huge reform in India's military resulting in the much stronger and competent and respected force we have today. Martial races do inherit certain characteristics that prove themselves in war. The British evoked such feelings on ethnic lines so as to maintain the fighting spirit of their colonial army. In a situation like SL the native fighter invariably has many advantages irrespective of the might of an outsider.
As someone who come from so called martial race. I agree that concept of martial race flawed. Anyone can be great warrior it is not necessary that he should come from a particular tribe.

Srilankan Tamils are our brothers and they have the right to self determination. The Sinhalese have always oppressed the tamils in Srilanka. The North Indians were never really bothered about srilankan tamils.
Sri Lanka has no issue with Tamils. In main cities (many parts of the country for that matter) Tamils and Muslims in Sri Lanka do the most trade long before the war and since then. War was just a political and group of people who wanted power at the expense of the majority of Tamil community. I as a Sinhalese, I played, studied and grew up with Tamil friends.
