Lots of truths. However, archeological discoveries do not bear out the following:-
      1. The oldest irrigation tank in the world is the giant's tank built by Naga's. The biskotuwa or the most advanced sluice mechanism is still present to be seen . It stopped working in British times.
      2. The Yakkas are probably the veddahs but they are probably called Yakkas because they made steel - yakkada - iron in Sinhala.
      3. The mahavamsa is written in the 1st millennium AD and not entirely apolitical.
      4. DNA research needs to be carried out as probably the Indians originated from Sri Lanka rather than the other way around as the oldest evidence of use of tools 125000 years ago is in Sri Lanka and not in India much later

That's the whole problem here. Youth in SL don't know their history, and has to rely on foreigners to narrate our history, by sources biased and trying to mislead the youth. There's more to Sri Lankan history than the 30 years of bloody war. They don't know about the Sinhalese kings who brought this countries irrigation, architecture, farming of paddy and so much more to a level that the present youth is oblivious to. We were once called "Asias great warehouse" as we self sufficient in our food sources.History is not taught in schools, especially in international schools. Present Tamil, sinhalese and Muslim politicians ruined this country while bringing forth their own agendas, to get votes and stay in power. The recent downfall of the govt and riots too were politically motivated foreign funded scheme. Just a few months before this all happened, I noticed foreigners who were coming to SL were advised by SL living overseas to change foreign currency in certain jewellery stores as they give a much better return than the banks. Most foreigners were openly advising other youtuberd to do so. So is there any surprise that foreign reserves were low inspite of so many tourists and Sri Lankans arriving to the country? Who owns most of the jewellery stores? Food for thought 🤔

@@sivanandk.c.7176He is full of bias, but unbiased for certain people's narrative. It's high time an educated mature person give the real unbiased story of Sri Lankan rich history, which the British ruined and tried to erase the Sinhalese people's existence. They conveniently looted and took our irreriplaceable Ola leaf Buddhist documents from dating back to 2500 years, gems, artifacts etc etc etc never to be returned back to the Sri Lankans. High time these people made videos about the autrocities done by the British colonialism to so many countries. They completely erased African people's rich history, erased the existence of African Monarchy and their palaces. Now the BBC Channel 4 is the most corrupted diaspora funded station that gives false narrative about the Sri Lankan ethnic issues.

There is the popular history that everyone believes in and being taught in schools in Sri Lanka, but now evidence is being unearthed that a far greater civilisation thrived which has a history of more than 5000 years. The books on technology, medicine, surgery aircraft technology and much more are found in British Museums and Portuguese museums. Sri Lankan and Indian sivilisation were much more developed in every aspect than the western, so when they colonised both the countries they wanted to hide and distroy this rich history to keep their position strong and to convert the people of these countries in to their religion..the sad thing is our own people supportd these acts to gain personal benefits.
Matt, I'm grateful to you and to your cause, we need people like you to bring this grate country to limelight again.

War is discussed only after the black July. But the beginning of Tamil Nationalism goes back to end of British rule in Sri Lanka. Plans to create a separate state for Tamils is not something started with LTTE/Prabhakaran. In any country majority is blamed but the truth can be far from it. Problem is truth about war can't come out when Sinhalese and the government were already put at an disadvantage for being the majority.

And Bandaranaike (and his wife Sirimavo) were also responsible for making Tamils to take weapon in their hand. I know that not all Sinhalese are against Tamil rights. But Sinhala politicians are responsible. So, there nothing to blame the large minority Tamils on the country.

He didn’t wanted to invade the Southern Sri Lanka even though he could have do it too. He just wanted the tax income from Mannar port. He was a justifying king who even gave death penalty to his son for killing a calf. That’s why Sinhalese let him rule Anuradhapura for 44 years without bothering. Even there were Sinhala Generals in Elalans army. Even in his seventies He accepted the arm to arm battle challenge from young prince Dutugemuni. He died as a hero. A lot of our history though is sort of handed down through stories and "folktales". There is a story that when Moggallana was coming back to Sri Lanka with his army that he did entertain the possibility of reconciling with Kashyapa, but Kashyapa, out of panic chose to take his own life instead.
A story from the time of Vijayabahu and the Portuguese and Kotte kingdom is that Sri Lankans dug tunnels underground for miles that let them get from Kotte to the Portuguese fort (something like 6 or 7 miles long!).

Dear bro, the name of port city "paradeep" in odhisa is actually a Tamil word. "Paarai theevu" means "Rock island". The name s based on the landscape of the island. An island made up of rocks.
Likewise I can say thousand of examples. It may be persons name, place name, things name etc etc etc to prove that once upon a time, the entire country / sub continent was full of Tamil language. But alas, people in other parts of the country were made to forget their Tamil route/ origin. Now it is hard to believe that truth.
There is a divisive force/ people who have mingled with us and constantly dividing the Indians for the past two thousand years under many aspects, like languages, state, religion, caste, culture, colour etc., etc.,
My simple opinion is that, the moment we all the Indians start thinking that once upon a time we were all tamilians, that is the moment in which the destruction of that divisive force / race/ caste starts. Will it happen. It should happen.

    • @nehaojha9094

@@jeevanullakal9075 Equivalent in Odiya would be Pathara (rock) - dwip (island). Linguistically Odiya and Tamil belong to different language families entirely, but Odiya does have some loan words from Tamil or rather Sin-Tamizh (classical tamil). One thing which surprised me growing up is the ease with which I could easily understand North Indian languages especially Bengali, Axomiya (Assamese), Nepali , Bhojpuri, Magahi , Maithili etc which have common roots with Odiya dating back to 7th century CE. South Indian languages were very hard for me to learn though and had put in a considerable effort to learn as the words and grammar were a lot different. I had learnt Telugu and basic Tamil once but quickly forgot once I stopped practice. But even now I can speak the North Indian languages with much ease without any practice. For that matter even Gujarati , Kashmiri or Punjabi are easier for me to understand.

The history between the Dambadeniya and Kotte kingdoms are quite complicated.
In 1232 Vijayabahu III ruled in Dambadeniya but not only him but also in Yapahuwa, Ruhuna and Mahiyanganaya, there were leaders respectively named Subha, Buwanekabahu and Sanka.
And there were other rulers in Northern areas named 'Vanni' and Kalinga Maga ruled Rajarata.
After Vijayabahu III, his son Parakramabahu II defeated Kalinga Maga and became another one of greatest kings in ancient Sri Lanka.
In 1270, Parakramabahu II's son Vijayabahu IV ruled there for 2 years and his brother Buwanekabahu came onto throne.
For own safety, Buwanekabahu chose Yapahuwa as the kingdom instead of Dambadeniya.
After his death, Vijayabahu IV's son Parakramabahu III and Buwanekabahu's son Buwanekabahu II had fought for the throne.
Then, a person called Arya Chakrawarthi from South India stole The Tooth Relic of Buddha and offered it to Kulasekara who ruled the Vijayanagar Empire in India at that time.
Parakramabahu III peacefully brought it back to Sri Lanka and ruled In Polonnaruwa kingdom(1287-1293).
After, Buwanekabahu II defeated him and moved his kingdom to Kurunegala.
9 years later, his son Parakaramabahu IV came onto throne and after the kings called Vanni Buwanekabahu and Sawlu Vijayaba have respectively ruled this kingdom.
We have lower details about history in these times.
Anyway, Sawlu Vijayaba's son Buwanekabahu IV held his kingdom in Gampola and his brother Parakramabahu V ruled in Dedigama and a family called Alakeshwara ruled Raigama and another family called Arya Chakrawarthi ruled in Jaffna also.(1341)
The Raigama kingdom fell apart as a Chinese army leader Chen Ho defeated Alakeshwara's and arrested them as prisoners in 1411.
Parakramabahu VI who was the son of Jayamahalena in Raigama held the new kingdom in Kotte.
He successfully claimed the Vanni areas and kingdoms of Jaffna and Gampola by war.
He died in 1467 and his daughter's son Jayabahu was defeated by Prince Sapumal in Jaffna and ruled Kotte in the name of Buwanekabahu VI.
Buwanekabahu's son Parakramabahu VII was defeated by Prince Ambulugala in Gampola and came onto throne in Kotte as Parakramabahu VIII.(1490)
Portuguese arrived in Sri Lanka in 1505 and Parakramabahu VIII ruled Kotte and a king called Pararajasekaram ruled in Jaffna as well. Sena Sammatha Wickramabahu have created a kingdom in hill areas as Kandy at that time...

As a native Sri Lankan and a history buff, I have to say, this is probably the most accurate narrative of Sri Lankan history that exists on RUclips right now. Apart from a few omissions (e.g. the Hartal of 1953, the so-called "Sinhalese" revolution of 1956, the 1959 assassination, the 1962 coup d'état, and the Marxist (JVP) insurrections of 1971 and 1988) the narrative is pretty complete. Kudos.
As for the history itself, as much as I am proud of our ancient history, I cannot help but feel ashamed by the more recent history. Common sense has given way to fanaticism, and racism has appeared as patriotism. The last 70-or-so years have been nothing but a bloody shame upon my country, Asia's oldest democracy. It has been over a decade after the LTTE and their horrific terrorism has been defeated and yet there are people who think all Tamils are terrorists. Shame upon them! Sri Lankan Tamils have an equal right to call this land their motherland, as much as any Sinhalese would. Anyone who says otherwise, I dare you to prove to me that your bloodline has no Tamil DNA in it.
It is time we shed meaningless tribalism and blatant racism. It is time we reconcile, true to our hearts. It is time we finally recognize our true potential and rise again. But then again, the only way to emerge victorious is to conquer oneself from within.
Kudos to the creator, sir. You did a magnificent job. Take a well-deserved bow.
