Trip is an S tier lean track for me. The delivery, artdealer beat, and off key humming work perfectly. I think anthony needs to do more drugs.

Been a fan of Lean since his debut and I’m with you on his vocals. He’s shown that he can sing on so many songs but for every track like that there’s two where he’s moaning into the mic out of key. I don’t know why he’s chosen to adopt this style as of late but it’s a shame since his songwriting is so much better now
Couldn’t agree more. Starz was a let down for me. I liked Pikachu but that was about it. I guess there’s this irony of good lyrics with lazy vocals???? Acid at 711 was 🤮

for me the flawed singing and the weird moaning is just a cool way of expression. Lean is a pretty much all about the Art for me and him not releasing flawless, but very unique stuff is a big part of why i like his stuff so much

This one has been a letdown for me so far, especially coming off of starz but gonna go back and give it another shot because if fantano doesnt like it it must be good
I can almost rest assured that anything that fantano really dislikes is actually amazing coming off of his unknown memory and red light reviews

As a musician it’s really nice to hear something new and refreshing! I think what yung lean is doing is great, listening to unknown death 2002 and hearing this shows a level of maturity in my opinion. A great piece of art. After a few listens I’d give this album an 8/10.

I love Yung Lean and I tend to disagree with ur scores for him, but I do understand it completely. This record, however, was overall a miss for me and I honestly agree with a lot with what was said here.

Every Yung Lean tape is a 5 for fantano, which is objectively the wrong take every time.
listened to it the first time and didn’t grasp it but second time it was super good. now my favourite are paradise lost, trip and summertime blood. starz2therainbow is pretty good too
It's been a week now since the new Billy Woods is out. In fact, I wouln't even call it "the new Billy Woods" anymore and there's still no review. If it's not there by tomorrow I'll have to form my own opinion on it.

Starz is my favorite Lean album, it feels euphoric, weird, and dreamy, even somehow nostalgic. Stardust on the other hand feels just weird. Idk where is he going with his stuff, but the moaning reminds me of bladee fl studio tutorial. Maybe it will get better after a few times 3/10

I’ve just kinda started dipping my toes into yung lean. I kinda feel like most of his songs are duds honestly but tracks like paradise lost and creep creeps are keeping me intrigued. I think this dude certainly has potential to drop a quality album in the near future

i always feel like reviewing a mixtape/ep is never fair because its just an artist kind of releasing a palette of ideas theyre working with, and maybe it's more appropriate to just review an artists' full length (if it comes to fruition) in the context of the mixtape; how they managed to build and compound on some ideas they were working with and throwing out into the ether on the mixtape
also i get that anything released is up for criticism; i just think it should almost be a tie-in review with any major work that comes after the fact

i will never understand why people treat this music like it's made by god himself. it's a guy carried by his production, and that's enough said. i do like some of his songs, but you have to admit it would barely take any effort to do his vocals. it's the people in the studio who are developing the originality and interesting textures

My least favorite Lean project. Needed more Whitearmor, Yung Sherman, and Gud beats. Only enjoy "Nobody Else"
Anthony Fantano will always get my respect. The amount of time and effort he has put into chronicling and critiquing the music of our time is an unbelievable achievement which we can all benefit from. Yet there are some blind spots in his reviews. He simply doesn't like Yung Lean. He also dislikes prog rock. That's 100% his prerogative. The problem is that he feels obliged to review artists, even if he naturally or personally dislikes them.
Just like I would never review rom-coms or Country/Western music, he probably shouldn't review music he has a natural proclivity against.
That being said, Yung Lean is a treasure to me, and I say that acknowledging that there are certain songs that he's made, and he even certain lyrics or aspects within songs of his that I really like, that will always bother me. But I overlook those because I love the creativity, the drive and the honesty within his work.
I feel that with Yung Lean, sometime you have to overlook the things you don't like and focus on this things that you do enjoy, maybe more than with other artists, and that's something that Mr. Fantano has never been able to master with respect to Yung Lean.
A perfect example is the song "Trip" which I immediately recognized as fan service for people who enjoyed Yung Lean's earlier work. Yung Lean has definitely evolved as an artist, but this song struck me as a love letter to his past, and once I was feeling those vibes, I was really into the song, and happy to welcome that into his canon, and my "Top Yung Lean songs" playlist.
The fact that Mr. Fantano didn't like that song makes perfect sense to me, because he hasn't really been into Yung Lean from the beginning, and it seems to me that the only reason that he's more respectful to him now, is because FKAtwigs is on the album, so he realizes that other artists get Lean, more than he does, so he's trying to be more understanding, but in the end he's always going to be biased against him, like when a review of one his earlier albums consisted of him eating a sandwich and then panning it.
If you want a more accurate and fair review of the EP, I'll have one for you soon. On my RUclips channel I did a top 25 Yung Lean song countdown and a full track by track review of Starz.
I hope that one day Anthony can understand why Yung Lean has so many fans, and why he connects with them like he does, and I'll always go to his site to stay on top of the music that I should know about, but as far as Yung Lean goes, he's not the best reviewer to focus on , because he's never really liked him in the first place.

I know everybody has a different opinion. In terms of originality this album is a banger. In terms of corporate copy paste rap this album is a "light 5".
