- PART1 Join me on an epic 2 part journey in to the remote Shoalwater Bay region living onboard my 5 metre centre console plate boat. Fishing the coastal headlands, islands & creeks for a range of fish species such as the highly prized fingermark ( golden snapper ) Barramundi, mangrove jack, qld groper, golden trevally and more. Opting to leave from yeppoon and drive the boat 120km up the coastline to avoid driving the dirt road into the Stanage bay. It turned into a trip of a lifetime.

It's a great little boat; it shows up some of the big boys - the ship still looks mint - Cheers Jeff
Thanks mate it does a great job for its size. Cheers
Great to see Little Ripper in action, Greg. Well done respecting the fingermark.
Thanks Paul I'm loving little rippa. Great all rounder and cheap to run compared to my big riptide. Cheers mate
Thoroughly enjoyed that mate!

Thanks mate it was a trip I will never forget.
Thanks Greg for another awesome video. All the knowledge and info you pass on is second to none. Really inspiring stuff, especially for someone just getting into fishing . Thanks for the sounder shots especially and details about fish species. Unreal mate, thanks for all your efforts. Cheers Pagey

Thanks mate I'm loving little rippa. Cheers for the support
Mate I have always really appreciate your videos. Bought every DVD you have produced. But I tell ya what. My respect for you has gone to oblivion after blurring out the local areas. I'm from Brissy and fish off straddie but kodus to you mate. Fellow 5m boat owner 🤙🤙
Mate thanks heaps for the kind words. It hard to film your trips and keep everyone happy but I do what i can to respect others and not ruin things for people or the fishery. Cheers for the support mate.
Great video mate I look forward to part 2!
Thanks mate cheers for the support
Sensational 💪
Thanks legend
Welcome to Central qld. We deal with this weather all the time,as you said .very character building
haha its the same everywhere unfortunately. The weather windows are getting shorter and less frequent these days.
Loved the vid Greg. Can’t wait for your next post. Cheers mate and a big thank you
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed and I hope you love the next one. pretty epic
Very cool Greg. Well done mate. 🤘🏽🎣
Thanks heaps mate I can't wait to do it again some time. Cheers for watching bud.
Cool little mission Greg I spent 6 months a few years back at Rosslyn Bay fishing at building the elevator at the 4 story apartments in the harbour there ,magic little place of the world alright and some good fishing on hand too 👌 look forward to the continued adventure into stanage mate 🎣🦀👌 cheers Scotty
Thanks Scotty and I couldn't think of a nicer place to be caught working for 6 months lol. Cheers mate
Crazy amount of effort Greg well done
haha yep it looks easy on video but it was a huge effort to make the trip happen. Cheers mate
Using those special hooks again Greg?
The ones that only catch the big fish.
Cracking Goldies mate.
Well worth the drive.. 👍
hahaha classic. Cheers mate those big fingers made the trip.
Legend effort Greg. Thanks for sharing such a high quality blog and all the info too. Luv ya work 🤗
Thanks mate I really appreciate the kind words and I'm glad you enjoy them. Cheers for the support.
Something about going alone, I’ve gotten used to it now mates are always too busy ( or they don’t like me ) good video Greg , looking forward to the next bit
Nice Golden Snap
Cheers from down south
Thanks mate and you're right. Less pressure and I generally find I can take my time to learn more. Cheers for the support.
Always a good video mate 👍
Thanks mate much appreciated. Cheers
Awesome Vid
thanks mate glad you liked it. Cheers
Look forward to the midge madness. I've been eaten alive up some of those creeks as well!
haha thanks mate. Wow they were next level lol.
Great trip Greg. Got a very similiar setup in my boat. Shoalwaterbay added to the list!
Thanks mate. So versatile having a boat that size hey. Yep it's worth a visit that's for sure.
Love the video smashing those golden snapper, just a question what lb leader do recommend is best to use for snappers and Pearlie’s
thanks mate they're such a cool fish. leader size depends on where I'm chasing them. Generally for Snapper I will use 30 to 40lb and for pearlies I don't mind using anything from 50 to 280lb depending on depth.
Awesome video - AGAIN well done!! Mate question did you leave your car & trailer at Rossyln Bay or did you put it in security parking down the road?
Thanks mate much appreciated. Yeah I left it at the boat ramp but I have left it in the secure parking down the road before for piece of mind.
@@gregswickedfishing thanks 👍
Love the episode, how do you go with safety on these remote trips is there anyone to radio or have to use sat phone
Thanks mate I'm glad you enjoyed it. I take a Sat phone on trips like that mate.
Just a heads up. Fingermark don't release in over 15m of water so catch what you need and move on
Your spot on mate
I'm well aware mate hence why i drove away.
Awesome as always Greg! Love the new furuno fcv 800, have you done a video on the settings you’re running etc?
thanks mate. Yep the FCV800 is a sweet unit and enjoying learning the ropes with it. No video yet but maybe incorporate settings into a normal vid.
Nice one Greg. Do you have a vid that shows the sleeping area under the casting deck?
Thanks mate. Yes it was in the video towards the end mate.
@@gregswickedfishingThanks mate. Great setup. I've had an Offshore Marine Master Deep V for 10 years. Cracking boats.
🤙🤙
Is the rain on the deck loud that close to your head? Such a cool idea
The casting deck is carpet so its really quiet. The only noise is the rain hitting the top of the gunnels but its not that loud.
You forgot to show us the pie warmer. lol
Hahaha sorry mate. Basic cheapo one that works a treat
first
The music 6 minutes in can you tell me who plays it?
Sorry mate I'm not sure
Should of asked questions first from locals. Cario bay launch near mouth would cut so much time travel off in boat or beach launch 5 rocks many do
Wouldn't leave the car and trailer there over night lol
I know plenty of locals mate and I wouldn't be leaving my car and trailer there for 5 days.
the statement at 12 minutes... is laughable look at your other videos.
Please enlighten me mate. Unless its super common knowledge I go to great lengths to hide specific areas. I've always been respectful to this and it's something I take pride in so I'm interested to hear what you're talking about.
