  • Join us on an epic 10 day adventure as we explore the Whitsunday Islands while living on board my 7mtr Riptide plate alloy boat. Basing ourselves at the Hamilton Island marina when the wind was blowing, we visited places such as Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet, Manta Ray bay, Macona Inlet, Nara Inlet, Great Barrier Reef, Cid Harbour, Maher Island and the Lindeman group of Islands. Epic location with beautiful island scenery, coral reefs, beaches and even better fishing. We caught Coral Trout, Red Throat Emperor, Venus and Black Spot Tuskfish. Enjoy.

    Awesome video and great fish!
Wish the politicians would drive up instead of flying to go see the coalmines in the area, maybe then something would get done about the roads, considering how much money comes out of the bowen basin. Should send the counsel the bill for the trailer mate 😂

Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it. Mate I agree. Its unbelievable how bad they are particularly for a national highway. Hahaha don't worry I thought about it. Cheers

Great video Greg as always, makes me almost wish I'd gone a cabin rather than a hardtop centre cab (not really, my boat is perfect for my needs), but definitely inspiring to maybe head up there but stay in the resort while mooring my boat!
Although I absolutely cannot believe, with all that stuff you had on board, that you didn't have a gimbal belt for your wife?!?!?! That's like rules 1 through 5 when fishing with the Mrs! Some stinger suits may have been worth packing too 😜

Sensational trip, lucky you had Lauren to catch the stonker trout.....bit of bad luck with the spring breaking, but as you said..... character building....you just have to laugh sometimes and get on with it. Picked up a couple of ideas for Turkey Beach in August / September, thanks for the great video.👍💪👍💪👍💪

I've done 2 x leaf springs on the Bruce. Went with higher rated leafs and now I change every other year. I do about 6-8 thousand km's a year on the Bruce towing the boat and its brutal.

I turned up just as the wind kicked in - the day you were packing up . In fact my boat was also on D arm - a Bar Crusher Centre console. Much to my surprise I saw myself walking along behind you at 25:25. The Whitsundays are fantastic, but strong winds really do limit options up there, that week there were no runs to the reef and sharky murky water around the islands. I headed up to Lucinda after a week of 30 - 40 km winds on Hamilton and found the good weather. I recommend that company you used for trailer storage, I've used them a couple of times now and they are very helpful.

We did a month on our 20 footer at the same time. Ran into you both on a walk around the boats on one of our night stop overs in the marina. Plenty of nice spots to get out of the wind around the islands as you've discovered. Only did 2 nights on separate occasions in the marina that was enough lol. For a 15 year old boat as you say it looks mint. Great vid I'm sure you'll be back as we certainly will.

    Trip of a lifetime Greg?
I was thinking there is so much Country up that way to explore and enjoy, I thought you said you don't get out of the boat? well those stingers sort the unwary out real quick but a lesson learned.
I reckon a hell of alot of that type of fishing is more relevant than the really big mothership stuff to a lot of people even though both are the stuff dreams are made of.
Looks like the Mrs took it easy on you HAHAHAHAHA nice to have crew to clean all the fish.
Really awesome video you guys did and thanks so much for it as you have given a huge list of ideas onto the Bucket list.
    Cheers Garry
