Fantastic footage of the effects of barotrauma, this is the best footage I've ever seen about it and how the fish end up dead on the bottom. Without that footage the average fisho would think that they've done it all right after seeing the fish swim away strongly.
Another great episode Greg well done. The underwater footage of the released largemouth is super interesting and definitely needs more attention. I wonder how many other fish species suffer the same fate when released only to help fuel shark populations.
Greg I have said it before but your underwater drone footage is fantastic. It really makes the difference in content and is 100% worth the effort you have put into it. Loved watching that nanny steal the bait from a red. First class work mate. Well done
Great footage greg, those drone shots are something else. Seeing that nanny on the bottom, you wonder how many fish have died on release. It would be interesting to see if they survive with venting and using a release weight to get them down quicker.
Thanks heaps Bruce. I'd say more fish die than survive unfortunately mate. Unfortunately most of the damage is done when they hit the surface and I'd bet venting and release weights would do very little in helping them.
Such amazing underwater footage mate those eats and tge release of the nanny till its final resting place shows the fishing community the true resolves of release of these magnificent fish , and dads goldband was a horse biggest ive ever seen . Ive said it before mate but your quality of videos are outstanding and such a plesure to watch along with the educational aspects you provide are like no others on the tube . Absolutely amazing content mate and thanks for the time and effort you go too 👍 🎣👌 Cheers scotty
Great video as always mate, that underwater footage is unbelievable stuff, seriously!! Documenting the effect of barotrauma on that nannygai was very interesting too. It makes you wonder how effective venting and release weights are too, for fish such as Snapper, Threadfin and Jew here in SEQ. Keep up the great work mate, always love when you upload a new video 👍
Thanks heaps Will it certainly gives us a good insight into catch and release and I have no doubt the same outcome would happen with other species as well.
Spectacular production ... really appreciate the effort you put in beyond just "slayin' em". Pretty sure we all got some education from this video. Great job mate 👍
Another amazing video !! Thanks Greg and crew !! I learn so much watching your videos. It's always great to see your dad getting into them and enjoying it. Thank you for another exciting video mate and the effort that goes into making them. Cheers.
Thanks mate glad you like the vids and can learn from them. A huge amount of time and effort go into them so getting messages like yours certainly help me continue making them. Cheers
Great video mate, you would've been fishing alot of ground we would have nearly 30 years ago when I pro fished out there, next time hot the shelf north northeast of North Reef, some amazing Pearlies,Snapper and Goldband out there.👍
Just proves how fantastically vibrant and strong our fish populations are out there. The large average fish sizes across the species caught suggest an touched resource in the deep water
I have been looking for more information on barotrauma; your footage is incredible. Thank you so much for sharing! May I ask which underwater drone do you have, please? Great video!
Hi Greg awesome footage as always thanks. Have you used the drone in conjuction with using a release weight ? It would be very interesting to see how effective it is. Once again thanks I always learn something.
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed it. No I haven't yet but I'd say the outcome would be no different considering the fish went back down on its own no problems. Cheers
Shame about the fish but100% worth while result...fisho's and authorities need the data. If only you could have retrieved it 👍🏼 Keep up the good work mate 🍻
Careful what you wish for. Us fisho's in western australia have had our fishing bag limits and season dramatically reduced. The size limit on WA dhufish, baldchin and a few others no longer applies first two fish is it. Imagine doing 400km trip for 4 fish total per boat. . The science doesn't match the data here, its been use too match an agenda. Anyway great vid those reds are awesome, the underwater drone is sic
If you guys enjoyed this episode be sure to like, comment & subscribe. Cheers guys
working for me.
Best real wide angle reef fishing footage ive ever seen, that underwater drone is a game changer!!🤩🤩
Fantastic footage of the effects of barotrauma, this is the best footage I've ever seen about it and how the fish end up dead on the bottom. Without that footage the average fisho would think that they've done it all right after seeing the fish swim away strongly.
Thanks mate and yes it's a bit of an eye opener that's for sure.
Another great episode Greg well done. The underwater footage of the released largemouth is super interesting and definitely needs more attention. I wonder how many other fish species suffer the same fate when released only to help fuel shark populations.
Thanks mate glad you liked it. I'd be pretty confident that many other species would have the same outcome unfortunately. Cheers

Would be interested to attempt using a Ike spike and realising that air on a Nannie And see if it’s improving their outcome?
Shame about the fish but100% worth while result...fisho's and authorities need the data.
If only you could have retrieved it 👍🏼
Keep up the good work mate 🍻
Thanks mate, yeah it's a shame but glad I captured it for education purposes. Cheers
Awesome fishing. What size fish traps are using in the trout
They're 110mm fish traps those ones.
Careful what you wish for. Us fisho's in western australia have had our fishing bag limits and season dramatically reduced.
