Man when I was 5 I overwrote my big brother’s 200 hour save file in Fire red. The grace of that man to say “you know what, it’s your turn to play that game” and visibly hide his frustration is what started my journey.
Amen! We were all kids when we played these games. 151 hours covers the bus ride to and from school every day and by then we were just getting to the 6th gym. XD New age kids are SO spoiled with watching the game beaten for them in 8 minutes then following that and acting like that's how we always played pokemon, but it came out before most of us HAD internet PERIOD.

I remember playing pokemon diamond, pearl, platinum, and black before learning that the point I was stuck on was the legendary pokemon and that I had to find it😭. By that time I finally had one of those book guides and ended up going back to beat the games

Worth nothing but a real good memory of my passion with that game
I remember getting my first copy of yellow version as a kid can’t remember the context but this copy would drive you insane, it had every Pokémon on there in the boxes but half of the were just glitch splotches and their level was just a bunch of number sequences.. that was 20+ years ago and I never forgot that moment
I remember 7th grade my friend and I had a race to see who got to lvl 100 first in pokemon yellow before the first gym. I’ve got to say it took a few months before either of us got close. I think we eventually lost interest and said fuck it.

My sister got venasuar to level 100 after maybe two years and then I got my charizard to level 100 but I forgot how long it took me. Most of of my acquaintances just cheated using a game shark and had multiple Pokémon on level 100

There is some squares on the top left of the front but my emerald doesn't have those which is odd which makes me doubt this is legit. I really haven't played as much but to this day I feel that I lost part of myself when I lost those games. I bred perfect IV Shiny pokemon. I had wifi battles. He wouldn't share at first but after he saw my commitment to lvl up he shared the info, then i kept beating the Elite four with different teams, for fun. Most of my childhood were pokemon games, good times.😅

I've got 199:40 in my Emerald and no, my mons are staying where they are! I did once transfer my Latias from Emerald to Diamond, I haven't got the slightest clue why I did that, but it makes me sad that my beloved Latias can never return to it's home. ... I do plan on cloning my special mons from emerald using a cartridge reader to restore a backup from before I traded/transferred them to another game, though. 😜 Just for myself, of course. I'm not interested in doing VGC. But I haven't been able to confirm that restoring a backup does work savely yet. Haven't got a cartridge to test it on before messing with the one that holds a record of my childhood in gaming yet.

I bought a Pokemon White game years back and it had event Pokemon and 6 level 100 ev trained Pokemon like Swampert, Azumarill, Umbreon, Sableye, Arcanine, and Venusaur. they were all nicknamed too.
