Don't worry about loosing your save file, Pokémon red fire didn't use battery for save, wile you keep your cartridge out of humidity, heat and dust, it will preserve your lovely Pokémon safe.

I really like your setup, My pokemon save that I had growing up had about 200 hours spent and I been getting back into the game recently
