  • What is more important - a beautiful face or a beautiful heart?
While outer beauty may turn heads at first, it is easily forgotten when the true nature is revealed. Inner beauty will be remembered. Our relationships with others will be what is cherished.

How sad. My Mom never ever said that I was pretty. There were no hugs or kisses, ever. She never taught me how to bake, cook or sew. She was great at them all. Saying I love you was not in her vocabulary.
I stayed out of the house and was a tomboy. I was an only child.
Married 3 times to no avail. I did have a daughter and I hugged, kiss her and told her everything that I didn't hear. I love you.

Judy, your mom sounds just like mine. I never realized how bad my upbringing was until I had children of my own and couldn't help kissing and hugging them and loving them...and then I realized, I never got any hugs or kisses or bedtime stories growing up. I'm in my 40s now and just finding my inner confidence.

@Laura, It's not true, what you felt I felt too. That's in 1960s. I don't remember my parents hugging or kissing me, sitting down to talk to me. But I know now that they loved and cared for me. But when we are kids this makes us feel unloved and not cared for. It's just in those days parents had been themselves brought up that way, only as infants we were cuddled and kissed. Once a child, in those days, if you all can recollect, it was a strict upbringing. Your mom must have loved the Tom boy in you, so she didn't think of teaching you the cooking baking etc?? We do not know their thoughts while we surmise on our own that they didn't love their kids. I hugged and kissed my children, spent loads of time with them, just like you all. But so did all my friends. It's just that the times keep changing. My children pet my grandkids more than I did, gifts are a plenty as is love expressed in excess🙂. Times change, our parents loved us, if not we wouldn't be what we are today. Let's be grateful to them, times were tougher then. Than now.❤️

I am so sorry you had to live this too. I don't think it's generational, I am a millenial and my childhood memories do not include love from my mom. My mother was a narcissist plain and simple, tried to manipulate things her way until the very end. The last thing she did before she died was steal money from me and lie about it, destroying my relationship with 2 younger siblings in the process. She committed suicide after that by not telling anyone that her breast cancer had come back. Now I am left without resolution--how can I forgive her for something that she couldn't even forgive herself for? I wept throughout this video. What a lovely, strong, beautiful woman to awaken so late in life and allow love to soften and light her life. For me, for now...I am loving more than I ever imagined I could be. Love is life's greatest gift.

It pains me to hear her speak about herself as "not born beautiful." I see such a beautiful human with profound insight, who has struggled much of her life to make herself feel worthy and whole. Simply, because her mother was obviously an unhappy person. A truth distilled here: how we talk to our children becomes their inner voice. As parents, we must choose our words carefully and intentionally.

Agreed. She’s 85 and the pain and shame from her mom’s words still stung. Dr Gabor Mate specializes in childhood trauma and it’s relation to epidemiology helped me see how many of us we’re victims of victims (her mom was prob treated the same and that’s all she knew) and how childhood scars can last a lifetime. I’m sure I hurt others from buried pain and anger before I owned both. Hopefully most of us became survivors even thrivers and helped others.

As an adult, I realized that my mother (who was also treated badly by her adopted mother), didn’t like herself. And, I looked like her and was the most like her, therefore, she didn’t like me. I forgave my mom and felt very sorry for her. She could not give what she did not have. My scars will always be there, but I am strong, compassionate, and empathetic because of my mom.

So true! a mother who didn't get the love and affection needed from her mom, can't give her child the love that he needs!
It's terribly hurtful and you always expect from her to show you the love that you needed, but you gotta move on at some point and learn by yourself how to give the love that you didn't get.
I believe as long as you are aware of that you can change the toxic cycle and be a better mom!
      I understand your words!

My mother similarly dashed my hopes as a child when, after a wonderful day of singing hymns at church and just loving life and music and seeing my future lie in music, my mother told me that I sing just like my father, loud and terribly and could I at least do it quietly in the future. My heart was broken into pieces. I have rarely sang in front of people since then. My future became unsure, lost, hopeless. This is something I've spent my life healing from. Aah, the power of words. Be careful what you say.

Well … this one got me.
I woke up just before I turned 50. Through a month long period of fear, terror, pain, anguish, trepidation and fight or flight 24/7 I screamed, “I don’t want to live this life anymore. I don’t want to be this person anymore.” If I were not the sole caregiver for my elderly disabled mother I would’ve opted out of it all. So, I started searching for a way to lessen the stress. I knew if I kept going the same way that this body would die. The first relief I found was a breathing technique to balance the heart and mind. It sort of snow balled from there. Introspection and realization led me to the truth of life. I’m no longer able to recognize the person I had been for 49 years, truly. I’m not disowning or denying her. I’m learning more and more everyday about the very nature of reality. About who I am, what I am, why I am, and how to be in this world. I wanted to end my life and through sheer terror I did. I ended the tortured perception that was denying me a life worth living. A life of appreciation and ability to find joy in all the little details if I just take the time to look.
I can’t thank you guys enough for sharing this film with the world. This one reminded me that I’m lucky I woke up. Sincerely, Thankyou

I first saw the movie ”Love, Mommy” before this one. At the end of ”Love, Mommy” I remarked how beautiful she is and that I wanted to draw her, make prints of her! When this movie started, and she delivered the ’all cats are black in the dark’ line, I burst into tears, mortified. I was so surprised and taken aback. I didn't have a second to think. The reaction was visceral.

I watched Jenny's 3rd Story "Now you are Free" just 5 minutes ago and had to share it with the words " Everthing about her is beyond beautiful!" She touched my heart and got my eyes watery with her beautiful soul. Now...30 sec in this video she expressed her regrets about not being born beautiful. That hit me. I got mistreated by a lot of people in my life and felt misunderstood and rejected and now almost 45 I am almost in peace but still have to learn a a lot. I also wished this happened sooner as I am living alone with my dogs and have never been married. I know now that people who hurt you are also hurting. Unfortunately that leads into a lack of self-love and respect and therefore to others threating you just as disrespectful as you treat yourself. It is a vicious circle. As Jenny said, the more wrong turns you take the longer it takes to find back on the right path. We can do it as soon as we open up and replace fear for faith. I am sure many people have the same fear about being too old for that and Jenny's story is so motivating. I would love to listen to her forever!

This is probably the 20th time I have watched this video. Such beautiful beautiful words she speaks. It seems to tug at my Heartstrings. I am 71 years old now and as a child I was always told by my father that I was worthless and I was a piece of shit. I would never amount to anything. I could never please him no matter how hard I tried to do things that would surprise and make him happy only to be knocked down. There was also physical abuse and beatings. Somehow I survived. I became a nurse and travel to other parts of the world as a volunteer nurse in Village areas of different countries. And in my father's mind that did not come up to his standards. That was a failure and a weakness of a man to do such a job as a nurse. I never married and of course never had children. I always believed deep inside that I was not worthy of being happy and sharing my life with another person. I always believed also that I would never have the kindness and love in my heart to give to a child. I do have two little dogs that I love very dearly. They are the joy of my life. I have fought for so many years as to Who I am. Only now in my life I'm beginning to see the person that I am. This video has given me so much hope that I still have time to pick up more pieces of my soul that is scattered on the ground. I certainly wish that I could meet this lady. I would hug her so tightly and I would hope she had a very absorbent towel on her shoulder for all the tears of joy that I would shed and thank her for her beautiful words. And also thank you guys for the beautiful work that you do. This is my second comment on this video. The first one I was so overwhelmed I could hardly think of the words I wanted to say. If you see her again please give her an extra large hug for me. I am not an artist but I love Mother Nature. I live on a farm that I own in the mountains of East Tennessee. I spend my days hiking and wandering about in Mother Nature. Sitting by a small stream or waterfall for hours It seems to replenish my soul with a new energy and a new start for another day. Again, I thank you guys very much. Love and peace to all of you.

Your fims are made in such quality and so exquisite, I'm enjoying every second of them.
Finally a story of one of "invisible" human being, all mainstream became devoted only to handsome people and it seems that nobody sees that most people are not handsome, but have an inner beauty.
I'm definetley one of them, so ugly and so funny to everyone from the outside, but reach inside, hope that some day I would also making beautiful paintings and write interesting stories. Thank you for this.

You're beautiful. You have a great soul. You just had the misfortune to have an unloving cruel mother.
You must be very proud of yourself for what you had to face and overcome! It doesn't matter how long it took you to figure out yourself.
"You did try! And you did succeed!"
    Your smile proves it!
There are many people out in the world, apparently beautiful on the outside but shallow and empty on the inside.
Don't worry what people think about you. Love yourself. Do what you love. Love what you do. Keep peace with yourself.
    Namaste🙏
