So when a company that is a billion dollar company needs to act like they need to be funded to make a vehicle. It just comes across as total bull 💩. This proves that. I mean they did advertise it having "functional wheels"... That was until you put the flame effects on them, then they couldn't roll anymore.
The EoV & Rancor were very similar; many people wanted it, but the offerings and price didn't seem worth it to the collectors they were advertising to. If the price and offerings/"stretch goals" were better it would've funded. Well, that and people being burned on QC and changes made that customers only find out about once their items were delivered. You can only burn your customers so much (for that much) before their good faith is gone.

Your points are valid. These toys don't need to be crowd funded. We got a brand new castle greyskull for under 100 at retail. If they believe in their products than make them and put them out to consumers. A toy car should never cost 350. Amazon has 1/12th scale cars between 40 and 100.

This isn't true. Hasbro showed off the EoV at SDCC the year before (might have been NTYF, I don't recall exactly) so they had the tooling done already.
They were after us to recover the cost of that tooling, and a much, much higher overhead. Hasbro is a larger company, more hens to feed, and their executives have stock buybacks to execute on our dollars.
That's what we were paying for with the Haslab, the car was maybe 30, 40 bucks to make, the rest was executive golden parachutes and stock manipulation.

Mcfarlane should have just done a better paintjob and charged 100 or something. He can do good paintjobs, far more so than Hasbro.
For a vehicle the plastic "quality" only matters insofar as it is reasonably durable and the functions still work, which i assume the McFarlane will, or it will come out in reviews that it is bad. For figures plastic matters bacause of gummyness or joint tearing and such, but if the vehicle has a good paintjob then lesser quality plastic will look the same.

My hot take, the engine of vengeance didn’t even look that good to start with. Didn’t look like a real vehicle, it was a generic hodgepodge with a lightly detailed plastic block for an engine, the trunk was a joke and the interior detail was ok but it wasn’t anything special. Not to mention the car they were hauling around wasn’t the actual product you you get it was the show piece that was specifically designed to sell the project. Who knows how close the end product would of been or if it would of had the same paintwork. Heck for as good as the hiss tank looked, it was a custom 3D printed model of it not the actual finished product.

It's totally a fair comparison. Two similarly sized cars that hold a figure. Hasbro's had more detail but not 260 dollars worth of more detail. For what we saw I'd say 120. You could maybe go up to 150 since the Mephisto and extra figures would increase price and potential interest. 350? Absolutely not. Same with the McFarlane Batwing when you have Spinmasters 27 inch long version exists for 40. McFarlane's looks better but not worth 250. You can easily dry brush some silver and add some small plastic control panel on the interior for a few bucks on your own. Keep on making your comparisons because companies won't pull their head out their rear unless you let them know about it. If people don't like when you talk about it? They don't have to watch the vid. In the end it's your channel and I like that you'll talk about things like this.

You could have bought 6 of these compared to the McFarlane one. I think Hasbro made a mistake by making the production process for the charger an injection molded one vs the batmobile which I think looks vacuum formed. For injection molded items, the size of the tooling can balloon the cost a lot where it is less an issue with vacuum formed, but there isn’t a proportion of value there to the end consumer. There IS a quality difference between the two, but not enough to justify the price difference of $60 and $350 (Hasbro is also taking a higher profit margin, but Todd is making it up in volume). Hasbro maybe could have done a vacuuform hellcharger and with a figure had it at $100, but I don’t see them doing a quarter of the same sales as a batmobile with film support. Can anyone else with some better manufacturing experience confirm whether the batmobile is vacuuformed or rotomoulded instead?

Venusian plastic is acid proof and can withstand temperatures that would melt lead you know. 😂 By the way since I last posted a comment I have spent my money on a new home. I have bought a narrowboat that I live on permanently on the beautiful canals of Great Britain. Haslab won't be getting my money for their overpriced dust gatherers because I have space only for the things I feel deserve it. Action figures and the things I need for daily living now take precedence over haslabs over priced offerings.

That comparison is totally fair though. You aren't paying for some space age diamond nano tech bullshit in the Jordan's and bricks of shit in the Shaq's. They're fake fucking leather, rubber, nylon strings, aluminum aglets... you're paying more for Jordan's because his logo is on them, you're paying less for Shaq's because he set out to make a shoe everyone could afford. They're fucking shoes, if I step on a nail in a pair of Jordan's, guess what, I still puncture my foot. They're overhyped shit, if people actually wore them, they're wear out just like a pair of Shaq's wear out. The comparison is totally fair, put a pair of Jordan's on a kid at the beginning of basketball season vs a kid in a prior of Shaq's see if the Jordan's last 10 times as long. That's the only comparison that would actually matter.

I mean, you had other collector youtubers saying that price was ridiculous when that Haslab was up. There's a vehicle being compared to another vehicle. Yeah, the Batmobile might look cheaper but I promise you it's worth every dollar of that 60 bucks. There's no way that Hellcharger was worth 400 bucks!!

This is what is called moving the goal post.
First they said plastic is super expensive now, so it can't be under $350.
Then they said their are no toy cars for 1/6 scale figure in stores.
Now MCfarlane's Batmobile is just not a fair comparison.
If God himself came down from Heaven and said the Ghost Rider car was a rip off, the Has Bros would just say, well what does God know, it's not like he made anything.

Hasbro using a 3D rendered Ghost Rider car is a big issue.
I collect the Black Series 6 in Star Wars figures and before the ROTJ Boba Fett was released we were shown a 3D render of it.
Now, the Fett figure was pretty good, but if you compare it to the render you can DEF see the difference.

  • @AlluminumFalcon1
    @AlluminumFalcon1 Год назад +3

It was a completely valid comparison. I wanted the Engine of Vengeance but, hell, you could compare it to the Hot Toys Tumbler as well. The Haslab was approaching the price of a top shelf 1/6 scale vehicle that you know is much higher quality inside & out than what Hasbro was going to deliver.
Inflation is real but Hasbro was engaging in pure price-gouging hubris

Wonderfully entertaining Articulated. Thanks for your efforts on this. It is so sad that the ghosts of EoV still haunt you. You've fought the good fight. The Hasbro's simply need to exorcize this topic. Logic. Reason. Value. Integrity. You've got it - they don't.
One last argument; at least I can strap my Doom head to the front hood of the Batmobile. Fat chance of it fitting anywhere on the EoV except for maybe the roof. And that would just look stupid!

Your last video was on point. Especially the passive-aggressive emoji thing, surprised there wasn't more of that from the Hasbros this time around. "You're just doing it for the views" is just like when someone says "that's just your opinion, though" -- it's a cheap and easy way to (try to) deflect legitimate criticism from something.
I've been seeing some genuinely lazy attempts to defend this thing. I seriously saw someone say the Engine of Vengeance *had sound* and the McFarlane vehicles don't. Either misinformed or misinforming people, but it was such a sad attempt to defend Hasbro. And why? The Haslab is over! They're not even trying to get a product they want anymore! They're just defending a *brand.* It's either fanboyism or refusing to admit they were wrong.

It was a very fair comparison. They’re the same thing, with only one thing making them different: price point. One is meant to be “cheap” and one is meant to be “high end”. There are positives and negatives to both cheap and high end, that it comes down to personal preference and situation. You made a good point though, that we didn’t get the EOV in hand to know what the quality really was. Hard to make assumptions based on pictures

Yeah, I was one of the first to compare it. And yes I got attacked with, " Oh it is just a hollow Vehicle and does not have removable wheels and fire flames or detail on the inside. First of all screw the inside. As long as the outside looks cool. Then I got (and this was my favorite.) But it was going to come with 5 action figures. 4 because we lost the early bird special. So I did the math and rang up the price. I even went with 25 dollars a figure. so this care and four 7-inch sale figures come out to 160. What?? Seriously how stupid he said that. I don't understand people getting upset over this and defending Hasbro. What are they getting out of it? Now in today's times, some might be getting that way cause everything is about race to them. And all they see is a Latin guy's car vs a White guy's car so a white guy's car must suck. Lord, I hope not to cause that crap is dumb to even make it about that. But you would be surprised. So I just don't understand why they get butt hurt and offended for Hasbro.
