I really like it. The two new heads made it worth it for me.
Nice, the heads are def improvements for the figure.
His superman animated appearance didnt happen until '96. The character's popularity blew up from the last czarnian and lobo's back mini-series (and paramilitary Christmas special). Taking place from '90-'93.
Yes he had become much more popular in the 90s from the 80s mainly among comic book readers, appearing in STAS helped him become more popular and better known among those who didnt read comics. Sorry if I wasnt more clear on that.
Love this release! Kept the screaming head on this figure with the Space Hog and put the other head on the old figure. Much better headsculpts this time around.
Yeah I have the head with hair up on the figure riding the hog and then kept my older lobo in the display case with other DC Multiverse figures with the new regular hair headsculpt. The original headsculpt went into a drawer.
You forgot about the best version of a Lobo figure: the Stom Collectibles Lobo.
That is a great version aside from the pin headedness.
Your right I did, I totally forgot about that one. I don't have it but remember thinking how nice it looked when I saw it on display as shows.
👍"Nice Review Of Lobo The Space Bounty Hunter!"😃
This was very much a 'Shut up and take my Money!' situation, Lobo is one of my top favorite characters. When they say 'exclusive to Amazon' they actually mean Amazon USA as this has never appeared over here on Amazon UK, but that's not unusual as nothing exists outside the borders of the USA. There are a lot of figures we never get so much as a sniff of. I'm happy that it's hollow as that'll make it easier to add lights etc and I'll repaint the bike to make it look less plastic.
Yeah exclusives often only apply to certain countries but that might mean that other places are allowed to carry it where you are. Often things exclusive in this country are general releases in other countries.
Sorry Jay but I gotta call B.S. on that part during the history of the character. Lobo appeared in STAS because he was a popular character already. I was reading his mini-series and even had shirts with him on it before he was on the show. He was one of DC's hottest characters at the time and was all over WIZARD magazine and other comic book media.
I got my set last week and pretty much agree with your review. I passed on the first single release Lobo due to the head sculpt but I really like the new ones. I do think its a tad too expensive but I dont regret buying it. Considering the Batmobile set was the same price, this set should have been cheaper OR had some better paint ops.
He def had become a popular character among comic book readers before STAS. But like often when you get on TV or movies that propels you to a whole new level.
Looks like it’s worth $70. I’ve seen some good pics with this. McFarlane makes fun toys.
Yeah I have no regrets spending the money on this one.
Jay applying his lessons from the X-Force 3 pack. 😅..jk @Jay..Lobo, the dog & accessories plus the Space Hog @ $70..definitely yes...if a figure can cause $40 now, this set is definitely worth it..if you miss this now, dont whine later that you skipped on it...paint sux though
I still can't believe that X-Force 3pk hasnt been made available again. I guess they all went to the UK cause I think its still in stock on HasbroPulse there.
Also, the spikey hair isnt his hair blowing in the wind. Thats his hairstyle. 😂
His hair is usually drawn with it down but your right I am sure its been drawn like that as well.
I pre-ordered this, and it arrived yesterday (1/13/2024) I wasn't expecting as big of a box as it was though. I guess I should have, but I was used to the Legends Rider Series and the box for this is about three times that size.
A big box for sure, but not a very heavy one, mine actually got blown into my next door neighbor's yard because of the crazy wind we had yesterday. He almost took flight for real, haha!
@@comix1017 mine was the tallest, about 5 ft tall I think. 🤣
LOL, yeah the shipping box was over twice as long as the toy box. When it first arrived I was like dang I didn't realize it was that big.
Cool video and review!! Thanx Jay C!!! Once Amazon puts this on discount, I will probably pick it up.
Good luck.
Ordered him last week on discount for 52
Great review JayC! I actually posted a review of this same item today as well, haha. Pretty much agree with everything you said in your assessment, definitely a fun toy and it displays very nice. Best little bonus for me is being able to replace the headsculpt of the first Lobo and use both of these (much better) heads so I can basically have a Lobo on my villains shelf and one on the spacehog
Nice hope you had fun with the review.
I still like the Mattel DC Multiverse Lobo the best. My McFarlane Lobo and Space Hog should be here tomorrow.
Yeah other then a hair lighter shade of paint the body of Lobo it is exactly the same as the original release body. Just different headsculpts which are nice improvements overall for the figure.
Might have to paint the spikes silver on his vest and dog’s helmet. Not sure how to fix the computer screens. Unless someone makes stickers for it.
That's what I did, looks great, don't forget the spikes on Dawgs collar.
@@Zeno4XX Nice 👍
The spikes on the jacket don't bother me but I could be tempted to paint the spike on Dawgs helmet.
Toddy boy still didn't paint the upper boots, aside from that this set rocks.
Very cool fig and bike. I do think it’s exoensive though
I have no regrets but $70 is still $70 so I get you.
The letters on the jacket are orange on the lobo i got with the space hog.
I got mine today
Sweet
I have such a love hate relationship with Mcfarlane
Take what you like, pass on what you dont.
Just got mine delivered 2 hours ago
Nice
Excellent format- the history of the character and toy products is brilliant. Well done.
Thx,
G'day G'day Jay Jay
G'day
LOBO❤
Looks nice. His bike is oke. And his dog looks oke to...but the stom collectibles looks cool to. But i like the stom bike better 😁 sorry mcfarlane 😅
Did Storm ever release their Bike? I remember it being shown but dont remember it ever getting released. Either way the Storm stuff is much mor expensive so it should be better hands down.
@@JayCTNI not yet i think🤔 yes thats tru jayc
Since i already have the first lobo todd made ( which i use as a vampire ) im good with that one .I was not impressed with the space hog but im not specifically a dc collector and most times i never buy multiples of the same character .
Yeah sounds like your not a big Lobo fan, in which case I could easily see this being a pass.
@@JayCTNI well i have some dc figz but i was always a marvel fan .And i dont normally buy more than one fig of any character so im good with that one ,not interested in the bike cuz lobo is a vampire on my shelf .
@You are a frenzie dog man! If you don’t like this product and aren’t a fan of Hobo from DC comics, why bothering typing bunch of stuff here? Go collect ur filthy Marvel trash instead!
Kinda nice but I don’t think Jay was that impressed lol. Pass for me.
I just got mine, the paint on the bike is the weak area, but if you can look pass that or improve it, by custom paint, its worth it.
Im not here to sell you something. I showed it to you shared my thoughts and def happy with my purchase but at the end of the day I think viewers can make their own buying decisions without me or anyone telling them.
easy pass
For 70 some odd bucks the motorcycle looks so cheap. Its also cheap hollow plastic. Feels like a rip off honestly
And on top of that he reuse an old body.
it is cheap hollow plastic but your not gonna find anything in that scale cheaper in today's market. If this was made 10 years ago and was a general release you could probably argue the bike costs $30 and the figure $20 for a total price of $50, but again in today's market that isnt likely gonna happen unless Amazon ends up discounting it, but that just means next time even Amazon will choose not to carry something similar so then the next item will be a McFarlane store only exclusive and it will be even more expensive. If it's not appealing enough to you to want to spend $70 thats cool, but using the word rip off like someone is trying to take advantage of you just doesn't really apply.
A 70$ repaint. If Hasbro did this bullshit people would have lost their damn minds. Hard pass on anything Mcfarlane the only toy line that can raise the price by 15$ per figure, never upgrade the figures to pinless, come with no accessories and get no backlash. Let Hasbro do the same shit and the hypocrites would be coming out of the wood work.
I can only speak for myself, and if Hasbro did something similar and was something that appealed to me I'd have the same response and buy it. People are gonna complain and attack these companies no matter what they do or don't do and none of these companies are perfect. So if you want my advice quit worrying about what others say or do and just buy what makes you happy for as long as these companies put things out.
Great review
thanks.
