      Hasbro doesn't want to lose money on risky projects. And when you do the math on final tally of backers, they make millions. Then look at all those toys sitting on shelves...even in clearance..they are sitting there. But, at least we buyers can choose if we want to support or pass the crowd funding. Some are good, some are just not and expensive.

      The big wigs from the company simply do not have the guts to take risks, mainly in order to not anger their shareholders in cases when some ventures happen to go wrong.
      For example, just imagine if they had normally released the Engine of Vengeance to the regular retail and the whole project would have then flopped.
      They are simply afraid of losing money, a.k.a. (to be more precise) of not making ENOUGH of them to sufficiently please their "overseers".
      It's all about greed in the end.

    1:10 - It is mainly about the bulk, a.k.a. the volume of stuff one gets for their money.
    The Giant Man is made out of far smaller amount of materials. In comparison with the Sentinel alone, it looks like the Giant Man consists of almost 50% less plastic than the former "giga-figure".
    Also, I believe that the aspect of tooling must be here at play as well, since the Galactus and Sentinel both look far more complex to tool at the first glance, and thus more expensive to produce, than the latest offering from Haslab's Marvel team.

    For me, the problem with the "Toy community" is precisely that: it's not kids loving their toys and enjoying them with a bunch of friends from school as we did in our childhoods. The "Toy community" is an adult ensemble with politics, ego driven stances, and high demanding individuals. Every toy is reviewed as a collecting item.

    • @ChapMeifan
      @ChapMeifan 10 месяцев назад +14

      Exactly!!!! No one even gets to explore toy shops anymore and find hidden treasures because everything is reviewed and put in protective plastic boxes in the hopes they are instantly worth a lot of money. When I was a kid we played with army men in the sandbox and chucked water balloons at them for artillery. I suspect the toy collectors of today would freak out watching kids melt these soldiers with matches or leave them in the sand and dirt. Toys aren't really toys anymore. They are just commodities.

      @@ChapMeifanI collect and my kids have toys. I don't get mad when my daughter plays with her Barbies, mix up accessories, etc. Why, because they are toys and she is 8 and that's what they are for. I think that has been lost on collectors because they are either following companies like a cult. I see that with Hasbro, McFarland, Valaverse lovers. It's ridiculous. Or they look at this stuff as investments. It's a stupid hobby and money sink, collectors need to understand that.

      I just want to be able to collect more O-ring figures, vehicles, accessories.. like I did in my childhood. At fairly cheap prices like how they used to be. Remember when the figures were $3.99usd? I understand there is inflation and all that, but there's no way Hasbro should be expecting people to pay TWENTY DOLLARS FOR ONE O-ring figure!!! Their stupid two-packs were $40usd!!!! That's ridiculous!!! They should have made a 10-pack for $40, I'd have bought several.. but I'm not paying $40 for only two. I think that's the problem with the Toy Companies vs. vintage collectors.. and sure, there are some that have no issue with getting price-gouged.. and they will argue with me, defending their right to get ripped off.. but eventually everyone will see what I am saying.. Hasbro doesn't care about it's fans.. they care only about max profit for minimal work. They are taking advantage of their loyal customers/fans.
      Seriously though, $5.99 per O-ring figure is a decent price I think... and for a multi-million dollar company, I think they could sell them for that price and end up still doing well because of their crowd funding stuff that i know makes massive profit, it's all the same company.. so they can absorb not screwing people over on the normal o-ring figures by the millions in profit they make per each Haslab.. and all their other toy lines.

    • @ChapMeifan
      @ChapMeifan 10 месяцев назад

      I completely agree. I like the Joy Toy and Acid Rain stuff but holy crap you need to mortgage your home to buy an army. Hasbro has lost its mind and you're right in that many don't seem to care that they are getting severely gouged. It's more important to have 'toy cred' and show off your Cobra Officer and Trooper that your got rinsed for. I also miss the era of cheaper 3.75 figures. Sadly Hasbro has ensured that time is no longer here. No wonder kids have no interest in figures anymore. @@blissfairchild7194

We do need more people on RUclips that speak for the "rest of us." Ultimately all opinions should matter. He said some dumb shit about a year ago and I tried to reason with him, he listened and said he’d read a book I suggested. Hell I found a free version of it and a year later he was still spouting the same tired nonsense. I will say he’s an individual. Hasbro's strategy is a marketing fever dream; they like X, flood the market. It used take say 200 to 1500 to collect an entire toy line, now between special editions, rare sets, limited runs, and crowd funding, a collection is going to run $5000 plus. For myself collecting is fun if there's a mold I like, a set that reminds me of an updated slice of my childhood I can share with my kids, then I buy it.
    Looking through that lens, I spend less now. Hasbro has turned the fire hose and said, if they like some toys, they will love all of them. Akin to understanding if some water is good then drinking from a firehouse is great.
    As some channels have pointed out, when Star Wars and Avengers are hitting bargain basement places in record numbers and still not selling, well the good times do come to an end.
    Great video btw, not a huge viewer of this specific channel, I respect well thought out and articulated arguments. Cheers!

  • @subraxas

    This is my educated guess as to why the first Trubble Bubble was 10 Bucks more expensive than the second one:
    The big wigs from the company simply do not have the guts to take risks, mainly in order to not anger their shareholders in cases when some ventures happen to go wrong.
    So, since the first Trubble Bubble came out as FIRST, all the new tooling for it Hasbro must've invested in creating had not yet been paid off back then and since they are scared of flops owing to the abovementioned "demons" and, in addition, cannot read the market/fans properly, they decided to initially hike up the price so as to earn as much as possible in a case the given product does not sell that well.
    Well, as we all now know, the Trubble Bubble has been a smash hit and the cost of the new tooling got beyond covered, so Haslow could subsequently afford to put on the market second one but this time for its "real" retail price, because there was no new tooling involved.
    They are simply afraid of losing money, a.k.a. (to be more precise) of not making ENOUGH of them to sufficiently PLEASE their "overseers".
    It's all about greed in the end. But exactly WHOSE greed it is is the right question to ask.

    There’s a reason why I choose to follow channels like Analog, 3POA and Articulated Ninja. They speak and relate to actual collectors that deal with the real struggles of collecting. Why be blind and buy something that is gonna piss me off in hand? These guys have made me smarter with jumping into purchases. I’m very picky when it comes to buying what I like. Hell I’ve even learned not to buy things I like because of value just not being there. As much as I’ve liked some of the Haslabs, I haven’t backed one yet. I’m not a supporter of Hasbro using crowdfunding as way to eliminate risk on their end to push products. Also feel like they rip people off that way. You pay all that money up front blindly. I can never trust Hasbro with my money and expect to get my product with no issues. Their product have been very discouraging and unreliable when it comes to QC. Cobra Eels pissed me off. They came with harpoon guns that won’t even straighten. I bought a few legends and they keep coming with gummy knees. So my awareness of Hasbro credibility is through the roof. So I don’t consider that being toxic. If you guys call a spade a spade that not toxic. But if you defend Hasbro and their shady practices, that’s being toxic. Shame on those other channels for making false narrative to support why being critical is toxic. At the end they’re not thinking of the community, only themselves. Their desperation and thirst of wanting that specific figure would have them say and do anything to get what they want.

    One comment you made that very few reviewers talk about is price. It is bad enough that Hasbro Pulse and HasLab exist, but even their basic figures are about $50 Canadian. It is great for those "Has Bros" who have their own RUclips money/Hasbro bribes.... I mean gifts, and those who are doing great financially but a lot of fans (like myself) can not afford to collect these figures. It is dividing the community into the haves and have-nots, and that does not make a healthy community. There are some RUclips channels like yours and @RetroBlasting that have challenged the price gouging but a lot of channels remind me of primary school when the rich kid would bring their toys to class to make sure everyone knew they had them all. I don't want to end my comment on a negative note so I will add that I love your videos (and opinions) and look forward to new ones.

A hobby passed down to me by my dad since he loved to take pictures with his Olympus Camera of his coins, stamps and book colections.

    Maybe the Flight Pod didn't really sell out.
    Maybe Hasbro just claimed it sold out in order to drum up more interest in it.
