  • www.roguesystems.co.uk - On a recent testday at Mallory Park I was kindly offered a few laps in the Rogue Motorsport MR2 Roadster with a 3456cc 2GRFE V6 engine taken from a Lexus ES350 (RX350 in UK) which is also the engine used in the Lotus Evora.
Power is around 260bhp, torque around 250lb/ft measured at the hubs. Map is fairly conservative as it was prepared for the Britcar 24hr race. The car weighs around 1,000kgs
I started off quite tentatively as the car felt quite twitchy compared to the Mk2 MR2 I had driven earlier but I soon settled into it and loved the sublime handling and balance of the Roadster chassis.
Video was capture on a Sony Xacti HD and then data (captured with Race-Technology DL1) was later overlayed in the DL1 Analysis Software.

For the session your tyres seem to hold well. Tough for us in hot humid weather here.

Dennis, thanks for watching. The tyres are Toyo R888s which are a road legal semi-slick. They hold up reasonably well in 25C for about 20 mins but push them really hard and they will go off sooner. Yoko A048s are a harder tyre (still road legal semi-slick) which seem to hold up much better. I can't remember the semi slick we used in the Middle-East on their V8 Supercar (2007-2008) but they didnt do too bad even in 35C and with V8 power.

Great Video as always... I just miss the Video System from Race Technology :D

@Brixxlnator - Yes, me too. Like the increased res but not keen on the 6mm lens (makes things look too close/track too tight). Would love a HD version of the VIDEO4 though (Andy, if your watching :))

@ipecaquana - thanks, i'm sure with a few more laps I would have been totally comfortable with the car and could have eeked out some more time. As it was I never got a totally clear lap but my best theoretical (best 3 sectors) would have given me a 50 sec lap, which is pretty quick for Mallory. The Mk2 Championship cars lap record is 55 secs.
