Definitely a prerecorded soundtrack. Check the last announcement, at 1:36 mark...""Wordless" by..." when clearly there's an image w/text on-screen. If it was live, this likely wouldn't have happened.
Travis A. Dees Its possible they accidentally put up the the wrong card then. Also most of the time they don't show the announcer reading through the nominees, they just play it over title cards. Although there is definitely a difference between when he was improvising and reading the nominees, why would they have Chris prerecord it when he was seemingly fit enough to say it live?
@@christian.9075 He was basically an overweight, charismatic, likeable and talented Steve O. Miss that guy. My childhood wouldn't be the same without SNL and Tommy Boy.
I fucking love Chris so much. I wish he wasn't so bad into drugs. I wish he was happier. I wish he understood how loved he truly was and still is. I'm so glad I was alive and saw most of his career. I was 7 when he died but God, he was my favorite since I was little and still is, and I'm almost 25. Love you Chris, Rip! Hope I can meet you beyond the stars some day ❤️
I wish Farley and Spade would've done a 3rd movie together, because Tommy Boy is a classic and Black Sheep is underrated. Also, could you imagine if Farley would've lived to be in Joe Dirt and other Adam Sandler and Happy Madison movies? It would've been cool. RIP Chris Farley!
Robert Ryan I agree. Chris Farley passed on too young. I would have enjoyed seeing him in more movies with either Adam Sandler, David Spade, or both of them.
Notice they cut away when Farley read the nominations. He prerecorded the names because they wanted to make sure he pronounced the names without screwing it up.
Clips like this just make me wish the great Chris Farley was still with us. Chris, you made us laugh like no other. The world loved and still loves you. You were truly one of a kind. We miss you so much and know that you are entertaining those in Heaven that you did here. Steve Martin even found you funny. That says a lot. You were not just fatty falls down again like you thought you were. You were and still are a comedic genius sorely missed.
I was 13 when Chris Farley passed away due to overdosing on drugs. I was shocked I never knew he took drugs. He must have been extremely sad and/or had some problems which caused him to start taking drugs. Rest in peace Mr Farley, never forgotten more then 20 years after your passing.
Some of my friends and family watched Tommy Boy right after college graduation. I remember the laughing and how sad we all were when he dies. He always said he wanted to be just like John Belushi, and so he was. It's a shame that he was begging a stripper to stay with him for a little while before he overdosed on morphine. So talented
David Spade must be the most chill person ever!! No matter what crazy thing Chris does, jumping around or grabbing him or whatever, he DOESN'T FLINCH. It's pretty impressive and really made these bits work. It's also a TON of trust he must have had in Chris as a performer
Chris Farley and David Spade two best buffoons to ever grace our screens. Thanks God for giving us such a comedy legend (Mr. Farley) even if it was for 33 years. Miss you RIP 😊.
I genuinely miss Chris Farley.. all the guy wanted to do was make people laugh even if it was at the expense of embarrassing himself or something about his weight.. the sad thing is that he didn't realize people geniunely loved him for who he was not just how he became famous or who he portrayed on screen or in comedy sketches, the problem is that at the end of his life he only surrounded himself with the wrong people which ultimately led to his tragic death.. RIP Chris..
Looking back at this, it seemed like people didnt really wanna laugh at Chris. They could tell something was off and were worried. I could just be imagining it considering we know what happened soon after this night. We all miss you big guy!
I miss Chris Farley so much he knew how to make anyone laugh or cry any feeling he was the best actor ever. 😜😛😝RIP Chris Farley "living in a van down by the river"😃😄😂
According to the Memoir his brother wrote Farley was sober here. He was in rehab and was only let out for this event. If he looks off it's cause he was still recovering from his relapse. It's sad that people seem to to think he was on drugs all the time when he actually worked so hard to stay sober for 3 years.
And yet Chris Farley was and is more awesome than half of the celebrities at the Oscar's. Chris deserved to be there more than most because he was a damn good human being even when fighting his own personal demons that took him away from us who loved him. Nobody was as funny or had the same amount of heart other than John Candy.
Emily Fisher No, no. You did not ruin. What ruin? Chris was human, but Chris was found by them first responders with that Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin St. Mary in his hand. Through the Infinite Mercy and Love of God, Chris will never suffer again.
+Monty Ehrich Actually it was Chris' friend who placed the rosary in his hand. It's all explained in "The Chris Farley Show - A Biography In Three Acts".
And did you know Farley was scheduled to do the voice of Shrek! There’s audio clips of him going over lines with Eddie Murphy. Mike Myers did good, but it’s crazy to think of the possibilities. Every time a game changer dies are pop culture reality shifts, and an alternate version is born
Before the Oscars became Political and wasteless. Chris Farley was a God in the 90's. He was the funniest man on the planet and still to this day. R.I.P
What a professional when it came time to read the nominees. Hats off to Farley!
I know, right! its kinda weird when hes serious but I loved it.
that was prerecorded. thats why it didnt show him do it.
He did beautifully!

One can only appreciate the chemistry and friendship these guys had; and imagine how many more films they could have made together.RIP Chris
Chris Paneesh I agree. I have only seen him in 2 movies with David Spade, they were Tommy Boy, and Black Sheep.
RIP Chris Farley (February 15, 1964 - December 18, 1997), aged 33

Chris, you will never be forgotten. You also make me cry of laugher 👏

They're both always at their best when they're performing together. You can tell they enjoy it more than normal.
I sure miss Farley.

What a wonderful man. My dad went to college with him. Words cannot describe how great this man, Farley, was. There was a bright light inside him.

"Like" if we're here only for Chris and Dave.
I don't think anyone is here for the best animated short speeches.
Who else would we be here for? Do you really give a fuck who won an Oscar for a live action film in 1997?
I was here for Barry Jossen. Hes fucking awesome.
Who the fuck else would anyone be here for dipshit?
@cas I am, lol. I'm a fan of both.
Ahh Chris.... if you only knew... out of anyone you deserved to be there the most..💙💙

Marcie Clark if ur 25 u werr 5
Marcie Clark True,true
The drugs allowed him to be funny.
I was a year out of college when Chris Farley, and then Phil Hartmann, died. I was honestly saddened and upset. Not a good year.
You can tell hes not well here i like to think Chris is not dead hes just living in a van down by the river

Damn, I never thought of that. I wonder what role he would have had in Joe Dirt...
Not sure about Joe Dirt but just imagining what him in grown ups would of been like just makes my life feel empty
Farley was legendary as the bus driver in Billy Madison
Chris probably would have been the Indian
PAPER CuT! PAPER CUT! I always loved his scream voice. It was as iconic as Sam kinisons yell.
Notice they cut away when Farley read the nominations. He prerecorded the names because they wanted to make sure he pronounced the names without screwing it up.
TELEVISIONARCHIVES good catch!
Yeah I noticed he wasn't horse voiced while reading the names and was already standing back from the mic
Lmao yea haha those names were tough though
They do that at the Oscars all the time
I think that's funnier
