      +Steve27775 Dropping the bust , stumbling over it then attempting a humpty-dumpty re-assembly omg I was crying laughing. I'm used to his antics but this caught me off guard. Have you seen any of his older, SNL skits ? As a corporate sales person, inventor of cat toys ? The Fourth of July Celebration - he's the boss conducting a very important, in office , upper exec, staff meeting , enters , donning *only* socks & his Patriotic, tighty whitie's ?? be close to a loo.

      @Jamietheroadrunner 7 лет назад +13

      I was a kid watching that sketch where he showed his patriotism wearing only that unfortunate underwear and socks, lol! It came right after 9/11, too, right? I remember even my mom laughing hard and there wasn't much lauging during those months.

      I wonder how many other writers contributed to his speech (if any)? That's a huge part of entertainment, hiring the back office help and not mentioning it. It would not be improper even for an awards speech. Chances are, if he did hire people, you would never find out.

Originally i chose "Welkin" as a username about 25years ago, but some stupid anime game took that word and made it their main character, so it ruined it! Off the top of my head Incongruity theory comes to mind.(theconversation.com/science-deconstructs-humor-what-makes-some-things-funny-64414) Basically it is funny because it subverts expectations.
      It can also be explained by Benign violations theory. This would also explain why people who are sensitive about being white when it comes to current racial issues would find it less funny (the violation isn't so benign to them)

      Sky Lane Why so sarcasm? chronitized asked a legit question, or maybe I wanted to take it literaly while it was a rhetorical question, and put my humble opinion in there. Why should your opinion be inferior to mine? If you have something to say on why his wife would only give a superficial grin to this supposedly-funny-but-sad-to-watch act, feel free to express yourself. Who am I to tell you what's funny and what's not? Why do you think she's not really laughing at this act?

      Also it's hard to laugh when you know everyone's looking at you, she's just trying to be part of the act, in a kind of awkward way.
