I love this Polestar blue color... these are very sweet Volvos!!
+doctor zaius "Swedish Racing Green"
+Neojhun 😂😂😂
+Neojhun The official name for the color is Rebel Blue
Its actually swedish racing green according to the hr man at polestar! You can hear him say it on jay leno garage
@@FredoftheNorth rebel blue is slightly different
The racer should have take the race car around the track as well to see how big the difference would have been.
Well done Johnny. In those conditions, it's actually MUCH easier to be fast in the road car than in the race car because (1) it has 4WD and (2) body roll = more traction in the rain.
I’m a simple man ,I see Volvo I click!
The S60 Polestar is amazing
In the video he compares it to the Audi S4, really this isn't a good comparison as the S60 Polestar thrashed the RS4, and even the RS7 at the Nürburgring.
Awesome!!! I want a Polestar V60 so bad. Would look fantastic in the garage next to my Mk1 C70 Coupe.
***** nice shape to the car
As a Brit with an ego I will say this...on the whole...Scandinavians and Swedish are the best Touring car/Rally drivers ever!
I see polestar I click, love those Volvo’s.
Anderstorp is THE track in Sweden. They used to race F1 here 1973-1978. Ronnie Petersson was THE star.
What a beast, polestar love them both, fast, and safe, Volvo for life.
Your eyes were the size of saucers in that race trim! Good job
That black helmet looks absolutely ridiculous. I think I'd rather sustain a head injury that wear that thing. Any quick stop or start, and you're liable to break your friggin' neck from the weight of that bobble head creator.
No, I don't think you would prefer a head injury, believe me
Kanske den snyggaste bilen som någonsin byggts. Och coolaste.
The norra corner means the north corner.
our prince drives this proffesonaly
*I don't know where the wipers are fred*
So Volvo made a few of these for prototype use, Volvo actually produced and sold 50 of these (much detuned) in the US. So what's next? We need a true sports sedan entrant from Volvo, something that can swing with the ATS-V, M3, RS4, etc. I've seen an actual production S60 Polestar in person - they are stunning. But the performance isn't quite there yet.
Let's hope this is a building block to a REAL S60 with some head-busting aspirations.
No this car is made in France, and all cars in STCC shares the same tech, they just have different bodyshells.
The engines are midmounted, ( behind the driver ) n/a 3,5 litre V6s from Nissan, that produces around 400 hp.
They are also rwd.
+fontheking5 he's talking about the road car not the stcc
Drew Petersen which I would have thought was obvious given the context of this video.
I heard they only brought 40 S60 and 80 V60 Polestars for the states. The Volvo dealer near me had one and my dad took it for a spin while his XC90 was in the shop. He said it was amazing!
Anyways here's a good article on it: jalopnik.com/forget-the-bmw-m3-i-love-the-weird-blue-volvo-s60-pole-1728301092
Drew Petersen that is a good article. That number sounds accurate. I got to see the inside and out of one of the sedans at my local dealer. A salesman said he would have let me take it out for a bit since I currently owned an R Design but this one had sold before it hit the dealership.
When is the platform getting updated? Obviously you have seen the new XC90, S90, and V90. I want a new S60(70?). When you consider how crappy the ford global platform is for performance cars it is kind of amazing that Volvo did what they did with he S60.
Good video!
What was Fredrik's time in the touring car that day? ;)
The S60 Polestar would be perfect if it had a manual gearbox.
It had one..
Nakke144 the stock s60 is automatic but the polestar versions actually do have a 6speed manual
louis van der merwe is right chinese does make sense, they plow in the money and let volvo do what they do best engineer their cars, didnt happen under ford, i dont like ford but they didnt do as bad as GM did with saab,
darren angel agreed
The color is called swedish racing green! Very toung in cheek.
Dark Helmet at Ludicrous speed!
Space balls 🤣
1:12 Why does that helmet look absolutely huge on Jonny?
is this guys head really tiny or is that helmet get extra fat paddings on the side?
Paid Shill yes.
I am the only one that noticed that the road car it's a previous model than the race car Volvo?
What does this race in? This isn't the V8 one I've seen in Aussie V8s and Dutch GT.
STCC
Nicklas Nieminen Ah of course, thanks.
That racecar is damn sexy
Were they using slick tyres that's probably why there was no grip
no it wasn't. think about it. mid engined, rain, standing water, with rain tyres it would have problems staying in a straight line.
Do it on a dry track!
The way they pronounce Anderstorp is hilarious :) Anders-torp not Ander-storp
why do they pronounce it "anderschtorp"? it's sweden, not germany..
Why are the headlights different, if these two cars are meant to be identical? one being the race car the other being the road car.
They just have to look similar. Same story with the Peugeot 205 T16.
The race car is based on the 2014 S60, while this particular S60 Polestar is one based on a 2013 model. If you look up 2015 S60 Polestar, it'll have the same face as the race car.
Race car with monkey vs road car with racer is simlar to GTR vs Viper. Viper have a lower center of gravity, stickier tyres and greater power to weight. GTR weight more, higher, less power but with AWD, traction control, stability control etc... and that's why GTR have a higher ranking than Viper in terms of lap time.
They have to be red!
Please let me be your driver and i will win the race :D
It got a 6 speed manual not automatic.
I have a polestar 2017…. Do try the secret mode… u Will be shocked
Way cool cars, my summary is Fred is cool, those side burns are not cool
I have a B8.5 S4. I take Volvos attempt to battle the S4 seriously. I like the blue color but I don't like the overall look of the Volvo and wouldn't want a car that has limited color options. I also like all the Lupine growing around the track.
Jonny looked like he was about to or maybe even had shat himself.
Volvo yeaha
It's pronounced Anders-torp, not Ander-storp. 🙂
Such a shame it was raining!
Rain is all about skill... And horsepower is not an ally in these conditions.
@MIKE192rotary - my point being that the presenter did not get to fully enjoy this experience. This guy is not a racing driver he is a TV presenter. If it was dry he would not have had to of been so nervous about keeping the car in the track. I went to the nurburg in a caterham and it rained - it didn't ruin the trip but it would have been a lot more fun on a dry track rather than having to tip toe around the track.
In dry conditions there would not be any challenge...
The challenge would have been the same... The standard car would also have gone faster with the racing driver. Unless the driven I. The dry head to head by the same drivers your theory cannot be proven
Anderstorp Raceway! Lol
Darth Helmet
жа не по русски говорят (((
Wow race car dogged in the jump by a street car wow
Speravo guidasse una donna☹️
Mid engine Volvo? What?!
NeATaNDtURdy Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but the engine could be mounted behind the front suspension, making it "front-mid" or whatever people call it nowadays.
Yes this is a French built Solution F silouhette car, with an n/a 400 hp midmounted n/a Nissan V6 engine. And the engine is mounted behind the driver, i have seen this car in person so :)
don't test cars on track in terrible conditions not a true test atleast not where i live in southern California
The car is made for scandinavian climate. We're a moisty region with winter that'd fuck you up.
could he find a helmet any larger?
if that is an STCC car then its not Volvo near it... its just a Volvo shell with a mid-mounted engine, nothing in the car is Volvo. The enging is a mix of an Renault and a Nissan then the rest is just race parts by a company in France that builds the cars them ship it over to sweden then the teams put their own bodys on them. not even the wing is made by volvo.. the car comes with the fixed wing.... this isn't a "Volvo race car".
Source please?
i found it out when i was speaking to a driver in STCC or former driver.. hes now driving V8 thundercar and he told me about it...
the company that makes the cars is called Solution F and here is a link to a Swedish site that talks about it...
teknikensvarld.se/tre-snabba-med-derek-crabb-chef-volvo-motorsport-120741/
Thanks :) But the V8 used in their racing cars in Australia, aren't they made by Volvo? :s
Jakob Levin depends on what class we are talking about, it might be the same story there where they all drive the same cars but the companies provide the bodywork...
ahh ^^ I don't have any knowledge in terms of their engines so thanks for the link! [even though I'm swedish :o ]
Take Note Honda & rest of sheep, how built a a drivers Car
propaganda movie for the most garbage permanent-FWD kind of.. AWD which is haldex.
I am the only one that noticed that the road car it's a previous model than the race car Volvo?
one little hint under the shell of the blue Volvo s60 race car is a framcar (tube car) it's a solution s car not Volvo bulit and a Nissan nismo engine. STCC has lost its glory when they moved away from real touring race car bulit on factory base cars.
I thought that it's Volvo designed builded by Ford And that renault engines were in the first fwd volvo cars
