I love the interior color, it helps in finding items at the bottom. Are you going to have a different capacity/sizes? I prefer your 19l since it's slimmer, but I'm sure a lot will like the new size too. I wish your product will trend and will have more options someday like a sling and crossbody bags or just backpacks with different liter capacity. Also I'm not sure if it would help, but maybe a rubber feet at the bottom would help it stand more stable and it won't slip too just like some luggage bags. And add a pen pockets too, not sure if it has already, then choose a fabric that won't stain with inks if that exist, cause I have seen a lot of bags with pen marks on their pen pockets.

That is looking very, very nice. This perspective is from a IT tech road warrior. Fly out Mon, back on Thu, rinse and repeat. It has to be functional, professional, practical, and I have to be able to bring it to a meeting with client Sr. Dir., VP, and SVPs to give presentations. With that in mind... 1) I think the black logo is best - discrete - gets the point across. I personally would put it on the back. No ones going to look at me and say, dang, those are some sweet looking shoulder straps! I need me some of those shoulder straps !... They will be looking at the back of the pack. 2) building on point 1, really happy to see you are going with the codra. Again, clean, sleek and professional. Can't be all fuzzy selling the solution to the client. 3) nice job on implementing the water bottle cages. Only MEI, back in the day, got that right. 4) My favorite implementation of the convertable gusset is on the Travelpro® FlightCrew™ 5 Horizontal Rolling Overnighter®. Pic 2 shows it. Personally, I've only used the gusset feature a handful of times in the 10 years, and that bag is the absolute best piece of rolling luggage I've ever used - that thing is my mobile office, lunch box, and quick turn bag - it's just really big for the 'sleek urban professional' role. 6) 22 v 20L - strong preference for 22-24 so I can push in that extra sandwich, pair of gloves, extra notebook, etc. Anyhoo, really like what you are doing here. I like the look of this. Gussets are the right move I think and loving the black logo. What I would love to see on a travel bag would be a secure pocket on the back panel that I would fit a passport in and a few docs. Thats it. It would be secure/held against my back so less of a worry of someone pick pocketing me but easy to get to when I`m moving through airports etc. Just slip the bag off, get my docs, then stash it away and I`ll move on.

As someone who doesn't use my bags for ultralight travel and isn't stuffing clothes in there, I love the gussets. The full clam shell is great for packing but (at least I think) can be a little unwieldy sometimes in everyday use. Also solid choice on the nylon! The mixed materials with the waxed canvas really stood out to me with some parts being shiny and some parts being matte, but the nylon looks sleek as hell. And I'm throwing my vote in for the matte black logo on the front.

@@MrJed_swe are setup to do development with the goal of mass production in mind... Looks amazing! I preferred the waxed canvas because it looks more high quality and 40g extra is not significant for the looks. But after you mentioned the dust magnet I totally agree with your choice! On the logo point, if I may, please consider the way the metal button is attached. Since it’s sticking out and connected to a soft fabric there are issues for long term such as: after it will be exposed to water there is possibility for corrosion or rust that will weaken the fabric. Another point is when it gets tangled through use with loops or hook shaped straps that can potentially rip it out. Hope this helps. Good luck buddy!

Matte black logo is the way to go!!
Also talking about gussets, I have a samsonite spectrolite 2.0 bagpack and it also has gussets and it really works very well. Infact, speaking of clamshell opening, the laptop compartment of that bagpack also is a clamshell opening but it has gussets with a click button and velcro so that we can use it as clamshell when needed and gusset style when needed. I love that versatility. Hope this helps you making the decision!! All the best

while having the ability to go clamshell would be nice, it's definetaly not meant to be for the bag as it destroys the solid bottom base by folding it over. The gussets were that last piece of the puzzle that we needed to help us double down on one of the bags most important features (self standing)

    • @_Dani.Lynn_
      @_Dani.Lynn_ 2 месяца назад +2

I love the idea of the gussets….is there a way to make them shorter but wider? Maybe it will give it more of the clamshell look, but give more accessibility to the people looking for that clamshell look? I think there is a way to get the best of both worlds. 😊

Could have zippers running vertically down the center of each gusset so when they are fully down, can open clam-shell, and zipped up gives the strength to allow the bag to stand by itself.

    1) Matte Black logo all the way. I love that. I also personally prefer it on the back. I think that would sleek and smooth as hell!
    2) I'm all for a smaller size bag as I have a 30 liter travel bag, so the 19 liters was really appealing to me as an EDC/one day out backpack use. So for my use case, the smaller better, but it seems like general consensus is more space is necessary for most people which I can appreciate. However, that 21/22 liters would allow for me to use just this for a quick one night travel for work which I occasionally do. Or a quick with with my wife sans children.
    3) When you revealed the gusset opening, that got sent me the moon and back. Such a killer idea! The functionality of it along with being self standing is undefeated. That's my favorite feature of the bag!

Late comment, maybe pointless but... love the gusset. Terrific solution to the self stand/but I need to get to the bottom of this bag conundrum. My current bag neither stands, nor opens all the way down (clamshell or otherwise), and it makes me somewhat bonkers. Lining is great, the hatch is growing on me, and I am totally going for this baby as it has 99.5% of the things I care about. Which is awesome. Exterior fabric- thumbs up. Somewhat over black bags as they are ubiquitous... but on the other hand, that is because they are so useful especially in a business environment. Great work, Aaron. It's been amazing to watch your journey, and to see the bag coming together! Here are my thoughts:
    1) Logo: I actually really, really love the copper logo. However, from the perspective of having a more cohesive look, my vote goes to the metal-copperish logo. I think it has the best of both worlds: discrete enough to not stick out like a sore thumb, but also has that luxurious quality. The black one is a bit too plain and boring, and doesn't show the quality of the bag. I like the logo at the back, not shoulder strap. If it's on the shoulder strap, it looks like it's going to get caught on clothing, or even a thumb when it brushes over it. It also interrupts the look of the strap since there's a lot going on there already. Having the logo at the back brings the bag together better.
    2) Fabric: So happy you chose the Kodra! It looks sleeker, higher quality, and more professional. I also appreciate any decrease in weight. Also happy to not need to dust the bag often. I know someone with a black canvas bag, and it looks OLD even after a day because of dust.
    3) Bottle holder: The water bottle holder idea is fantastic. I like how it can be changed when the new elastic goes out. Still wishing for the dual bottle holders but this is not bad.
    4) Opening: I love the gusset idea!! I always thought it's a bit silly to want a clamshell opening for a smaller bag, especially one that's used for EDC and not a OneBagTravel purpose. Gusset is the best of both worlds. Also REALLY appreciate how the bag can stand on its own. It's been such a pet peeve for all my backpacks. I look forward to this change.
    5) Volume: I absolutely appreciate the 22L! It's the perfect size for my carry. Yes, there are days when I carry a lot less, but I really appreciate having the space for days when I need to carry more things. Please keep this.
    6) Lining: The orange honeycomb lining looks 🔥🔥🔥! It makes the bag looks so much sexier, and easier to find things inside but doesn't hurt your eyes. It's different from any other lining out on the market. Also appreciate the lowering of the laptop lining to show the amazing black lining with the logo. It looks perfect.
Now I'm curious how much the bag is going to cost. I see how much labour you and your team has put in, so I'm expecting it to be of a higher cost. At the same time, I'm really hoping it'll be at an affordable price so that I can get one or even a second one as a gift!

    Love all the updates.
-the size of 22L is a HUGE upgrade. This is my official vote for making it 24-26L, the most versatile of all sizes in my opinion.
-self standing with the gussets is genius. Total clamshell openings are overrated. Very rarely, if ever, do I need to fully open my backpack in clamshell mode. Gussets give you plenty of access to the bottom of the bag.
-that new interior color/honeycomb pattern is 🔥🔥🔥
For the logo: I’m all about the matte black.

Aaron, Ditch the lid, it’s the only thing overwhelming the sleek esthetics. Gussets are great! Emboss the logo such as in the laptop sleeve. Silver logo would be better if it’s a “no” for the embossed. I thought at first it was a travel pack, that’s what drew me in but this is great. Nice job.

thanks dude! But the lid ain't going nowhere - it's the bag's calling card! I understand it's a bold aesthetic, but if you look at the 1000+ comments below you'll see that so many people are jazzed up about it. Also, what's the point of making a bag like everyone else's? Plus it offers pretty cool functionality (like this - ruclips.net/video/GtfNSTG1g74/видео.htmlsi=YPr7JPTze89aJ2RI)

Thanks for the update. There's a lot to like on the bag. I like the capacity increase, and the water bottle holder seems like a great feature. Not sure if I have a strong feeling about the logo other than saying something in a matte finish and only one of them regardless of the color/location. The interior lining is a nice enhancement aesthetically at least (I'd need to use it to know about functionality). 100% agree on the material and the ability to withstand dirt and be lighter. Looks like a really functional, professional looking bag, which is what I would be looking for in this. Best of luck keeping the project moving; completely get that it's a huge undertaking bringing this to market.

Hey Aaron. exciting news. some comments for your review
    - the material choice is good. stick with it.
    - Logo on front side is better for some other person to easily identify if they like what they see.
    - the starnum loop cover might become loose or flappy after long usage. need to have some securing arrangement.
    - 22 Ltrs is perfect, please do not make it smaller
    - Why not have zip locks like the ones on Topo designs global backpack. those are much simpler in day to day usage
    - the moulded lid of the front pocket seems a little off at the edges. The seem oddly bigger whereas a flush fit on the pocket would be better.
    - please change the inner lining color. that beige is dull and boring.. he he..

Congrats, Aaron and NN! Looks great! Good call on the gusseted main compartment. One of my bags is a Tumi (definitely a luxury bag that I spent too much on) and it uses gussets. I can confirm that it stands really well and I have absolutely no complaints about the access.
Go for the silver logo, and this will be controversial (probably) but I would put that sucker dead center on the lid. Like a little button. It's subtle enough to not be overwhelming but still add a touch of flair. It'll look almost functional to someone looking at the bag on the street, but we'll know it's actually decorative.

17:43 feels like a bit of a missed opportunity to have detachable gussets like in the Mystery Ranch District 24. That way you can have a standing bag for EDC purposes and for travel you can detach the gussets and have full clamshell access.

that's an interesting idea, but at the end of the day with this bag's design it needs to have the gussets. Once they were applied it was such a 'oh shit' moment. Making them removable just doesn't work for the pack imo. Thank for your comment!

First of all, I'm excited for you and so happy you're making your dreams come to life, it's so inspiring and encouraging to never give up when it comes to building our own reality. So for that, thank you, man. Now, my opinions on the backpack and its versions. The one you chose looks great, sleek and modern and it makes perfect sense with all what you were going for in the first place. I'm not gonna lie, the waxed canvas version looks incredible too BUT, my personal opinion is that waxed canvas bags look better when they're almost completely made of that material, at least the exterior and perhaps having a more heritage look. So I feel that at some point it would be amazing to put out a limited edition of the Fyro waxed canvas but with even more waxed canvas, the lid, the bottom, the lining, EVERYTHING! Even the zippers! hahaha ok, perhaps not that much but yeah, a slight redesign to make it look less modern and more, "waxed canvasy". I keep telling you to review a Trakke bag, man. DO IT and understand my feelings about this. But anyhow, this is a sick looking bag and I feel grateful to somehow be part of the process and eventually rock one of your bags on my daily adventures, which I'm sure will eventually happen. How can I, an absolute bag freak, wouldn't own a thing he's been watching grow and crawl and walk and now hopefully run and then fly into my hands? I wish you the best of lucks in the final process and all your future projects. Peace.

What an awesome project! One thing I haven't seen mentioned: what about a discreet, external lash point (like the one on the strap) 6" or so above the water bottle holder? I saw one of the previous videos where the water bottle falls out if you shake it vigorously. By adding a lash point, we can latch water bottles with handles/loops to the backpack. Voila, the water bottle isn't going anywhere (The Aer CPP has functionality like this). It doesn't have to be a ring, I think maybe just something minimalist/clean that we could attach like an external strap or carabiner to.

I love how transparent you are about this whole process! The bag looks great. One note: I'm not inherently against a gusset system instead of clam shell, but I dispute the premise that clam shell won't self stand. I have several bags by Goruck, Recycled Firefighter, and Aer (Lunar Pack) that all self stand no problem with clam shell functionality. Good call on the Kodra over the waxed canvas, and I prefer the pewter logo over the copper. On the strap is fine.

Those bags you mentioned are more "panel loaders" imo (large bucket + small panel), whereas the Fyro bag seems to have a more central zipper. That might make it more difficult to achieve both things.

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  2 месяца назад +1

Agreed that the bag can totally self stand without gussets. The problem is that a clamshell opening + padded bottom = denting problems that could weaken the bottom materials over time. By adding the gussets we are limiting the opening and therefore ensuring the bottom stays the way it’s suposwd to be - strong and well padded with less pinching
