- Margaret of Austria was a remarkable woman who lived an extraordinary life. Born in 1480, she was the daughter of Emperor Maximilian I and Mary, Duchess of Burgundy. She was married off to several powerful rulers throughout her life, including the King of France, but her most significant marriage was to Philibert II, Duke of Savoy. Margaret was a talented diplomat and negotiator, which made her an essential figure in European politics during the Renaissance era.
Despite her political achievements, Margaret's life was not without tragedy. She suffered the loss of both her husband and her only child, leaving her with a deep sense of grief and sadness. Nevertheless, she continued to serve as an advisor to her nephew, Emperor Charles V and became known for her intelligence, strength, and unwavering dedication to her people. Margaret's life is a testament to the power of women in history, and her legacy continues to inspire us to this day.

Thank you William 😊
I know she was being serious in the time when she thought her fate was sealed in the ship, but can I say she had a good sense of humor in a way with what she wrote 😅😂
I really enjoy the bios of influential people who were not what everyone learned in history class!

And bringing nephew Charles and the Habsburg chin and lip nto several royal families. These are the good days with antibiotics, simple injury took her life. These are terrific videos about lesser known women.Good one.
Thank you so much SuS 😊
She was a powerful and intelligent woman. The way she died was awful!😢😢 thanks Jon, great video as always!❤😊
Much appreciated Theresa 😊
Little correction:Margaret was still in Spain when she was asked to teach Catherine of Aragon French-so she didn't face this challenge at home. You make it sound as if Catherine went to Netherlands with Margaret.
Another word of advice. It kind of distracting if the pictures you use don't fallow chronologically the story. I get that you use stock images, and I am ok with that. However not best choice to use her portrait from c.1525 when you speak about her life prior to 1500. And her portrait prior to 1500, when you talk about end of her life. I'd switch them.
Thankyou….love all this history
Thanks Jj 😊

Margaret of Austria was a wonderful and powerful woman. She was a great inspiration for all women. Her two husbands were lucky to have her and Charles the Eight should have wed with her.
Love her dress in La partida corona
Fun fact: Anne of Brittany was engaged to Edward V.
Thanks Savage 😊
Lovely. Beautiful, aesthetic and just wonderfully presented and researched. Sorry Lindsey Holliday. You have reach a whole 'nutha' level🤗
Fantastic stuff, as usual! Would you be so kind to tell me the name of the painting shown at 8.05 and its author? Thank you and have a nice weekend!
Yes, it is the signing of the Peace of Cambrai in 1529 between the kingdoms of France and Spain by Louise of Savoy, acting on behalf of Francis I of France, and Margaret of Austria, who signed on behalf of her nephew, Emperor Charles I of Spain. The artist is Francisco Jover y Casanova. Dated 1871.
@@HistoryRoadshow Thank you very much for such a quick reply! I like very much your videos; how do you manage to do those facial recreations? They are great! Have a nice weekend!
❤
👍👏✌
Thanks Ann 😊
Beautiful. Just beautiful. You're giving Lindsey Holliday's channel a run for the money 💰
Wow, thank you! Much appreciated 😊
@History Roadshow No problem! I know you must have an entire outline for months about who your videos will be about. I was just wondering, There are allllll these videos out right now featuring the Life of The Empress Elisabeth of Austria or 'Sisi' and theres currently 2 separate tv series (fictional) on her life so there is tons of videos about 'Sisi' but what about her sister who Franz Josef was suppose to marry, Helene or 'NeNe' There are no videos about her. It's *ALL Sisi ALL the Time!* so I am humbly asking, even though The amount of work you put into these videos are immaculate and perfection at some point in the future, Would you be willing to tell NeNe's story? She was so heartbroken when Emporer Franz Joseph chose to marry her younger sister instead she almost 'took the veil' and joined a convent.... Whatever Happened to NeNe? I don't know if you have Patron (Patreon?) 🤔 but I am not above Bribing you 🤗
No need for bribery. A super thanks will suffice! Joking. I've recently done a video on Sisi, she seems very popular, but I'll definitely note your selections for the future. Appreciate you commenting, thanks 😊
@History Roadshow I have watched your video on Sisi and it was awesome like all the rest! Sisi, wow, over a hundred years later and she's still the 'It Girl' 😆..I mostly felt sorry for her though. That was one of your vids that moved me to tears. Anyhow, I know people give you lots of ideas about different women of history to make a video about. I absolutely appreciate you taking my suggestion into consideration at some point in the future 🤗 Thanks again!
You neglected to mention the third candidate In the Imperial Election of 1519, Henry VIII of England.
Yes, apologies! Thanks for watching 😊
Are we sure she isn’t killing people off
Never sure about anything historical! Thanks Kristine 😊
Are you she's A habsburg ? She doesn't have the habsburg jaw.
This was before the inbreeding started. It's Margaret's nieces and nephews that will start off the famous Habsburg inbreeding.
True!
In some angles in some portraits she has it tiny bit. But not prominently. In portraits of her nieces it is more prominent. But it is extremely hard to tell them apart because Margaret, Eleanor and Isabella looked extremely alike.
Sad life despite her fortune of birth
Most of history is sad! Thanks 😊
❤
Thank you 😊
