Emma was a goddess. Coming from such poor background, learning Italian, rubbing elbows with the Toff. Thank you for doing this vid! She has been my idol for years.

I learned a lot today about Lady Emma Hamilton, and also her daughter Horatia. I read a book about her, when I was a teenager, and learned that there is nothing romantic about the good old days, that people keep talking about, through rose tinted glasses. Thank you again.

@anandmorris3780 , unfortunately, I read the book many years ago when I was a teenager. It is most likely out of print by now. And I can't remember what the title was or who the author was. I hope you understand. Thank you 😊

@@teresaklarlham984 Lord Nelson had a fever and Fanny Nesbit nursed him back to health and out of gratitude he married her.
Nelson only fell in love for the first time when he met Lady Hamilton.
At least they are together in heaven now.

The Nelson Mass was actually an oratorio written by Haydn both Nelson and Hamilton attended the premeire of the Mass and Emma Hamilton would sing some of Haydn’s songs with the composer on the fortepiano.

A very sad story, how men of power (inherited rather than earned) groom young girls with the promise of devotion, just to strip them of their knickers and self worth.
Once used, the girls are discarded, treated as an inconvenience and left with nothing.
Weinstene and Epstine show this story plays out even today, same script, same characters and same ending; a cautionary tale all girls should be told to prevent their own victimisation.

Poor Emma, she deserved more than being treated and used like that. Nelson was a great hero and she was an extraordinary woman that's why he fell in love with her. She didn't deserve such tragic end. 😢

It was back in the 1990's before the internet that I saw a late night movie listed in the t.v. guide called That Hamilton Woman. I thought, cool, I'm a Hamilton. Imagine my surprise of learning we share the name. Hopefully we will not share the same fate. 🤞

Vivian Leigh played her in the movie That Hamilton Woman. There is much commentary on Megan Markle as a social climber in Britian. I'm like she's not the first, she won't be the last. Look up Emma Hamilton.

Lady Hamilton, died in Calais in 1815 age 49 she died penny less. She only received a headstone in 1997.
If only Lord Nelson hadn't been killed at Trafalgar, they both could have had a happy life together. RIP.
