    When I’ve got too much to do, I start to get stressed. And then I think of the plans I have to see friends all weekend - I start to think that I'd rather just stay at home, because I’m really fricking tired already, and I get anxious about making myself more tired. And then I think about the fact I haven’t been to the gym in 2 weeks and have no food in my flat and have forgotten to buy my brother a birthday present - stress. Stress. Like, serious stress 🤯
    Stress and anxiety are facts of life as a human. They are products of our evolutionary history, and in the modern world, they kinda suck a lot of the time. Stress can be good - it can get us ready to perform to our maximum potential. But long-term stress - the kind that builds up over days, weeks and months - is a problem.
    This video is about taking long-term stress and anxiety seriously, as a mental state that has negative impacts on both the brain and the rest of the body. And then it’s about the 6 practical habits I’ve discovered and use every day to cope with and alleviate stress and anxiety. There’s no magical cure, but hopefully next time you feel yourself getting stressed out for more than a day or two, you’ll remember some of these techniques and slowly start to regain control of your mind and body 🤗

    About Me
    I'm a lawyer, part-time RUclipsr, son, brother, startup founder, fiancé, black coffee drinker and plant dad. I graduated from Cambridge University (where I studied French and Spanish), topped my law school class and now work for a corporate law firm in London as a trainee solicitor (which takes up a lot of my time)!
    Around that, I'm a big fan of discovering new ways of thinking, of balancing work with life, and of performing to the very best of my ability. Ohh, and being happy. And I try to share all that on this RUclips channel 😀
    Fun fact: I believe we massively overplay the role of “natural talent” 😮 AND… I also believe that TOGETHER, WE ARE ALL CAPABLE OF POSITIVITY, PRODUCTIVITY AND SUCCESS.

    Oh well. I recently am having the "jelly legs" thing. Feeling like my legs are weak. It seems like stress is the cause. But why can't I notice that before it affecting my physical health? This is overwhelming.

    The content makes sense. But is someone experiencing stress in a good place to give advice on it as, if it was working, they themselves wouldn’t be significantly stressed? It’s a little bit like an unhealthy eater conveying advice as a nutritionalist?

      @MagicAce101 Год назад +2

      I don’t think you have to be impervious to stress to give advice on managing it

    • @eastcoast4233
      @eastcoast4233 Год назад +1

      Didn’t say impervious, I’m just noting his stress has got worse recently, so if these tips were working for him his introduction to this video makes no sense. All the tips are good ones, but clearly they aren’t enough.

      @@eastcoast4233 look, he does not remove stress, he alleviates it. Stress, just like risk, cannot be removed. It can be managed. Even of you abandon your job and start living in a hut, you will still be thinking what will you be able to hunt and eat tomorrow.
      Stress comes in waves. It's not constant. Probably that's what you don't understand. And going for walks and exercising definitely helps, because it redirects your body's attention and changes hormones in your blood.
      Of course Liam will be talking about stress as a junior at his office job, just like students-RUclipsrs will be talking about homework, long hours if studying and exams, junior doctors will be talking about first shifts and losing first patients, etc.
