Hi everyone, I went out on a limb here and titled this project ... Lily Table. Why would I do that ? ... A friend of mine once said a painting with a title is easier to remember than one without. I’m hoping the same holds true for this piece of furniture. Also this table was inspired by the Lily pad and Lily pad flower kind of flipped upside down. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video. If you’d like to build this project click on this link for the plans. jonpeters.com/design-plans/
Jon, I don't know how many years did you work in this business and how old you were when you start that! but I know really good that just God inspired you to be someone like this. I can't believe how a human can do something like this. As I know you for more than two years via RUclips & Instagram I always follow you to the next project and I watch some time a project over and over but never lose my interest to watch it again by repeating the project video. Thank you because you still keep going to producing on RUclips. Alex
Jon. I reviewed the comments and they are all right on. You've done a great job with the process and details of the build. I'm reminded of "Norm" and "Charles Neil" in this. Not only are you showing how your showing us WHY! Got to clean up my chaos! Your shop is so damned organized! LOL!
What an amazing job Jon! Definitely one of the best builds that I have ever seen on YT. Talk about an heirloom. Totally off the woodworking charts! 👏👏👍👍😉😉
VERY much appreciated the mellow jazz overlay as the project came to a close. Beautiful table, Jon. I'm so glad you introduced me to Waterlox...and I've now started using Bloxygen given the time spans between Waterlox uses. Thanks for all this useful coaching and congratulations on that gorgeous table.
Nothing could of gone better than plugging in my headphones & spending 30+ mins. while on da clock at work to watch this magnificent piece of furniture come together!!! So many cool aspects & yet so simple looking also!! Well done Cuz!! Hoping all is well Jon, Dirty Jersey out!!! This video was well worth da wait!!
Hi Jon i really enjoyed your video here, the circle cutting jig was Soooo simple i also appreciate the close up detail you filmed while building just like a master class. Thanks for the tip with the tape on the pipe clamps.
Incredible how much detail went in to what, at first glance, looks like just a simple round table with tapered legs. You open my eyes to the quality and craftsmanship that goes in to, not only your work, but also how I see furniture in general. And just how far I have to go and learn in woodworking. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge.
First class craftsmanship and video quality. Thanks for sharing. That really is an heirloom quality piece. I love all the attention to detail - both on the piece itself - as well as the video. This was a pleasure to watch and a real inspiration. Thanks for sharing.
What an amazing job Jon! All the details in shaping the edges WOW, really nice. You just opened my eyes, again, to some great work that really shows off all the talent you have. Thanks for sharing with us all. I will definitely be trying to use some of your techniques in the future. If I can remember to do them when I need to. All this stuff seems so second nature to you. You are such a professional. Thanks again for all you do.
I find the hardest part of woodworking is design. Most furniture made by hobbyists looks like it's made by a hobbyist...this applies to me as well. You, however, have a great eye for design. Great piece. And man was that some nice lumber....not a knot in sight.
Wonderful work Jon. Just found the channel and your skill, craftsmanship, demeanor, and cadence all showcase the high quality of your work beautifully. Thank you for taking the time to share some of your knowledge.
Jon, that's a piece of art work! Nothing like the satisfaction of true hand built furniture, right down to the wooden clamps holding the top on. Thanks for all the details and tips. Do you sign and date your projects for future generations to know how old they are?
When you were explaining those tapered chamfers, my thought was, "Well, that seems like a lot of work for the bottom of a table" - then I saw how they turned out and thought, "What do you know - he was right!" Great job on this one, Jon!
You had me at the lap joint Jon. The engineering and final fit were amazing. The finished table was a pleasure to see. All the Thanksgivings, Christmases etc to come, around that table, beautiful.
Bellísimo trabajo, realizado con delicadeza y un resultado fabuloso... Gracias por compartir tu proyecto con explicaciones detalladas... Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷🙋 Cuidate mucho..
"and build a piece of furniture that will last a lifetime" the lifetime of an elf!!! that oak table is going to last hundreds of years, nothing beats oak
Great build Jon! I’ve just received a commission for a 60” round quarter sawn oak and was a pleasure to watch as I’m thinking about the upcoming build. I’d also be interested to see your finishing process from start to finish with the Waterlox. Not sure if you’ve already covered. I’ll take a look but if not, would make a great future video. Thanks a lot!
Thank you! I think I covered it but if not I have a few Waterlox projects on RUclips… also my next project is a solid Bubinga bench and I’m finishing it with Waterlox… thanks again and I hope you will check out the upcoming build .
oh.. Jon uploaded a new video. Click thumbs up then watch the video. Truth is I have never not learned (that sound off but is correct) something from watching.
Absolutely beautiful!! You not only teach, you explain the “why” all in an easy-to-understand manner that removes “intimidation” from the equation, and makes me want to build this. One question for you - going to design arm/ side chairs for this beauty? Thank you so much for sharing your skill, expertise, and artistry.
Great table Jon! Oak sure isn't cheap material, made me think if you considered to calculate the diameter of the table top and figure out that it didn't have to be the same length planks on the outside as on the inside ;). Anyways really good video, thank you!
Nice table Jon. Now that you have drank the green cool-aid (Festool) you really need to get the Df500 Domino you will wonder how you ever got along with out it.
what a craftsman, well done. Do you always make models of your pieces? Are they for you to visualize them, or or for clients to help them understand the final piece?
Hi Jon, I’m interested in building this as a 72 inch table. Do you have any recommendations for how to scale the base and legs? Thanks for the great video.
Thanks, you could just ad 12” to the cross braces that attach to the legs and 12” to the the table top support that attaches to the cross brace leg assembly.
ola, I follow your work for some time, I found the most this table would like to know if you could pass me the measurements of the base and feet. "I'm Brazilian".

That was a waaaay simpler method for the half lap! The taper on the edge was satisfying to watch. Great table, turned out amazing!

Man that was a great half hour.
What kind of edge treatment did you use on the top of the table top?
Nice table Jon. Now that you have drank the green cool-aid (Festool) you really need to get the Df500 Domino you will wonder how you ever got along with out it.
Thanks Dave! ...,I have one 😂 you will be seeing it soon 👍
