    Great build but one question -- at 16:55 you;re drilling holes in the top for screws to pass through and screw into the threaded inserts, but don't you really need to create slots instead of holes -- so that the table top will be able to have seasonal movement?

    • @cristiangrigore

      Such a great table build and I was just as surprised as you that there is no thought of seasonal wood movement. I would surely use slots. All these great build videos but very few show how the finished product looks like a couple of years down the line.

    i would have just used a small chamfer on the bottom stretcher. youve got angles galore, just keep em going. doesnt need to really be much to make it comfortable either so it can be a small touch that goes un noticed but if someone does look at it theyll appreciate the continuation of the angled theme.
    that being said the way you did it also looks great and im totally biased towards chamfers

    Love the build! Me and my girlfriend are huge fans of your style and white oak theme. Are you not worried about the table top expanding/contracting? I thought for table tops you usually want to use a slotted/pill hole so the attachment points could slide a bit.

    • @RadDadBuilds
      @RadDadBuilds  Год назад

      Thanks So Much. If I was to build this table for someone else yes I would go with a slotted or a wider hole to allow for wood movement. That said I drilled holes larger than the width of my hardware to allow for slight movement in all directions. Plus this table went into my own home where I can control the climate and environment to minimize wood movement.

    • @kennnva551
      @kennnva551 8 месяцев назад

      I was wondering the same thing! At the 18:14 mark, it doesn't look like the holes are elongated ... plus, the screw heads are sunk in! I'd be tempted to simply remove the outer screws, leaving only those located on the centerline ... then fit proper clips along the outer stringers.
