Born and raised in the north east side of Kansas City Missouri. Kansas City is of me I hope I can one day but a house and raised my children. The sad part is the city was neighbors hoods and roads was designed for segregation the school district is segregated and very neglected

Yes, I agree with the school district comment. In this past year I just learned about "redlining." How tragic that those things happen still. Do you like the north east? I love the houses there.

KC does not have the clubs that LA has but as far as hours bars close at 3 a.m. in Mo and 2 a.m. in L.A. If you want more authentic Chinese try ABC Cafe in OP KS. and Monkey King BBQ and Noodles in Lenexa, also Bo Lings does a Dim Sum on the weekends on the Plaza. As far as lakes, I think the lakes in Jackson county are better than Smithville and there are great hiking and bike nature trails all over the metro area that change through out the season with amazing wild flowers . Winter scenery is dull here but Spring Summer , Fall offer some amazing beauty as the trees change colors. The best part of Winter in KC is that it is a great Christmas city as many neighborhoods go all out with lights as does the Plaza and Crown Center, also there are drive through light displays and the one on Lake Jacomo is donation only, so not going to break the bank. Another thing you might add if you like seeing lots of drugged out zombies and tent cities like you see in CA., KC might not be for you, yeah I know KC has some homeless but nothing like what I used to see in California. Itis not paradise but there are even worse places you could be and with all the new projects they are working on, like building a park over 670, Rock Island entertainment bridge and the World Cup coming here . I could see KC turning into another Nashville as more people are exposed, also Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are bringing lots of notoriety to the city.

Kansas City is a Cake Walk compared to living in the Chicago area.
I've been here for going on 5 years and it's great.

I love this list! If you want to keep the list going, you could mention about the interstate system is wonky. Back in 21 my hubby and I had traveled from Wisconsin to KCMO to see family. I remember we had stayed in Olathe and were going to Gladstone. There is a part of the interstate that is on a curve. We were in the right lane, but the exits came up so fast and to get to the exit you had to go through one to two lanes of traffic. My hubby was white knuckles. He grew up going into Chicago a lot. He said that driving in Chicago was a lot easier because it was all straight.
Has your son ever had an allergy test done to see what he is allergic to, I don't know if he is still too young yet? Or even seen a dermatologist for his head? The thing with allergies is there are a lot of them. In order to treat them you have to know what they are. Zyrtec only does certain ones and Claritin does another set. I am on both of them. Back in 2010 we lived in Independence for a couple of months. We were told by the family that in the spring the cars would be all yellow from the pollen.

    • @LivingInKansasCity-JaylennWong

Thanks for your comment! You're totally right about the fact that it is HARD to drive here in KC! Super confusing and difficult to navigate before you get used to it, and even sometimes after you do!
Yes, we have asked if he can get set up with an allergist, but they said that they wanted to monitor him for another season before they do something like that! We hope things can resolve it with OTC medicine or some of the holistic stuff.

@@LivingInKansasCity-JaylennWong I remember hearing a long time ago that if you were allergic to ____ then you can have ______ foods because they are in the same family. Start documenting what your son is eating and drinking. Also on average we only meet with the doctor for 15 to 20 minutes. So this might give your doctor a better picture of what's going on since Zyrtec isn't working. I hope you can help find some relief for the sores on his head.

@@RachelMullerCreations We don't! We will look into that though! We know that his allergies impact him most when he is outside, our theory is that there's something with the pollen/grass here that makes him have a reaction. Seems we are having more hail than usual. Also, you mention weather changing day to day, but it notoriously changes within the day. We are a continental zone, so the low and high pressure zones swirl around more than coastal or mountainous areas. Regarding tornadoes...they build more momentum outside of the cities. The metro area disrupts the flow, so not too much of a worry in the city.
