I feel your pain. I to try to keep Clarisse, P.Katarina, Legion up to par when it comes to Feh. So far, they are still holding decently well.

I started day 1, and have always been f2p, just summoning for who I like. Now I play on and off, logging in every day but usually only doing in game content in bursts once every few months. It's honestly super fun looking back on old units and laughing with my freinds who quit the game about how insane new units or mechanics are. I remember the golden days of hoping to god you could get hector or takumi for their "broken" counterattack a skills, and using units like effie as my primary dps. I've managed about 440 heroes out of 1000, which I'd consider pretty decent for a f2p who barely plays the game as of late. Just don't ask me how many unleveled characters there are in my box...
Dude same. Been here since launch after I stumbled across it in the app store and its how I met my friends at school. Still going strong years later and play nearly every day

Heroes back then: Wow this unit gives +4 to surrounding units and can counter attack at a distance. They're super OP and powerful
Heroes now: Wow this unit gives itself +5000 and can counter attack and destroy all units on the field and destroys my opponents phone and erases their account from existence. Plus it summons a meteor to crash down on the earth and can summon Cthulhu as its special attack and it comes with a free math equation too
You forgot to mention at the end of the héroes now sentence that the unit mentioned is underpowered
Real OGs remember when a team of four Takumis was literally the strongest fighting force in the game, literally only conquerable with a team of four other Takumis.

Book 2 vet coming back around to playing the game after a couple of on and off sessions, and man has this little game changed so much over the years. I still remember how characters like the first fe3h bunch were so good. I do find it nice that even how these old characters can still be relevant, tho be it hard sometimes. Running my +10 Kempf even with his refine can be difficult against the current meta units. Tho I’d say, Lucia is probably my favorite meta unit rn, I love the whole 1v1 deathmatch aspect of her Queensblade, it’s just so fun..

I've been lucky that Hector was always my favorite since playing FE7 as a kid. And Ninian and Elincia came back with fantastic legendaries!
Once it becomes impossible to win anymore with Bector + End Turn, though, I'll probably be done for good. I kept getting so close, but then they'd reel me back in at the last second with Armored Beacon, Special Fighter 4, etc. Right now I'm just saving orbs for the inevitable great defensive X skill or T4 Save skill, or better DC skill that's just around the next corner I'm sure...

I’ve been playing the game since Year 1 and i like it a lot better now than like a year ago since imo IS has been releasing much more enticing and fun units to use, plus they’ve been releasing more and more of my favorites with new alts or just their base forms this year which keeps me wanting to play the game even more (until EoS at least)
Year 2 Vet here. I play very off and on. I would say the biggest issue I have with FEH is PvP's meta is constantly changing with every new banner released and that means if you aren't keeping up you're at an inherent disadvantage. PvE is fun but fact is if you have the latest units you can pretty much stomp with minimal difficulty. Playing with your favorites is always a treat though, and honestly that's why I always come back.

Redownloading Feh and instantly getting bombarded with a wall of text was nostalgic for sure. I remember when my only problem in heroes was trying to get my Mia to out speed Ayra. The collector in me hates this game. But even to this day my favorite part of this game is just reading the lvl 50 chats you get with the hero. 10/10 If I had money during high school, I would totally be bankrupt. (Good Video)

I play this game every single day. I love it. I don’t play for the “most powerful” I play and summon for my favs. I love Fire Emblem and this gives me the daily dose that I need. :)

You don't need to have played a Fire Emblem game to enjoy Feh, but having played one can definitely make for a better experience!

There are some units that may spoil the plot of some games, but they're usually the exception, not the rule.
I really love engage and now they’re starting to release engage characters so feh is enjoyable for me playing mostly f2p only getting the pass twice for the resplendent units i like

Man I’ve played this game since launch, and power creep is insane. Summoning characters now it like buying fruit from the store, they’re only good for so long until they expire.
I've been playing since year 1, I fell in love with FEH especially the Dark Olivia memes with her Wo Dao+. She has been my main unit ever since and I've struggled through each and every meta but it was always fun to find new builds for her that would work. IS please give us dancer refines

Day 1 Player here, Ive been pretty much done with the game for the past 2 years, I return every once in a while to check things out and man I'm glad I dipped when I did, powercreep hell is how I put it. It aint worth playing anymore man. Even with some cracked units like my +10 Legendary Dimitri, I cant even clear the fucking story maps, Ive had a lot of good times (and sank wayyy too many hours into this game), but I think this game just needs to stay in the past now lol

Flame lyn alone has +17 to everything at her own prf skill so imagine giving her some support she will go past 20 stats easy.

Nintendo never has done offline mode. The game will last for at least half the decade to come. Game already made a billion, so i'll be a while

Day 1 player here. I was F2P for a good 3 years until i saw Fallen Mareeta in a banner and ended up spending 500 orbs just to end up not getting her with like 11 pity rates. To this day i still have yet to have one even while i already have the normal and now Ascended alt.
I currently have about 30 +10 5☆ units, about half of them are from demotes, special demotes, and Grail units, and the rest are 5☆ exclusives. Ive heavily invested in alot of them with tier 4 skills and some with Arcane weapons. Its insane how far this game has gone and still becoming successful, i dont think well ever see a decline for like another 3 years maybe.

Last time I properly played the game was like 4 years ago, I vividly remember the Reinhardt memes on how op he was. I've logged in every now and then within those 4 years to roll some of my orbs, then eventually stopped when I ran out (which was around the time the 3 Houses characters came to FEH).
However for the first time in a long while I've felt the itch to play fire emblem again and decided download the app. And boi was I out my league. Still up in the air if I'll still keep on playing the game after a while.

I got back into FEH after a 2 year break and so much surprised me. Units have canto now, weapons have 2x the essays (looking at diamant) and more. But some things are still great.
Refines let old characters like for Lewyn still give a punch to enemies in Abysmal and Reinhardt still got my back with Dire Thunder.
Wont lie though new units like Gulveigg is still insane

I still play it but mostly for characters only using and summoning the ones I like
I'm a day one player and haven't played the game for maybe 3 months combined in these past years i love how IS made older units usable again since i like to use my favs. And I too have given up on playing must pvp modes. I play the arena for the tickets and resonant battles cuz they're fun but i haven't touched aethee raids for months.

I started playing last year and Alfonse quickly tied with Lucina as my favourite character in the entire series!
I played FEH up until mid 2020, right when powercreep was starting to get scary. I occasionally log on to see who on my friend list still plays, and to see all the characters I had fun building. While I miss old FEH, new FEH seems to be plenty fun for the casual player still. Maybe I should start playing again.
With the Gullveig monstrosity going on I suggest be careful those units are a monster .....B! Gullveig has A built in galeforce on her kit and mythic gullveig is a better Summer Edelgard being able to do at least 3 actions with just her base kit.
I can easily guess someone from Book V will come as a new unit type.
Fjorm, who is from Book II, introduced us the Ascended Units. Lif, who is from Book III, introduced us the Rearmed Units. Then Peony & Triandra, who are both from Book IV, introduced us the Attuned Units.

6 years and yup when bridal Cordelia and Lyn were must haves! From my exp, just be happy with the free units, i had some of the most fun with the given story units. Go for characters you love! When i went for meta unts i never used them again. The game for past 2 years has so much wall of text and abilities im confused! i miss the old days with Ike! The good thing is the art is beautiful and you can always see fan art :) My one complaint, is that they focus so many years and seasonal banners on Fe games from the old old days. I started on awakening and now we are getting Laurent!!! how many year 6! but they do fan service to games i never got a chance to play on counsel or hand held. The art is amazing and that keeps me coming back :)
I've been playing since day 1. Oh yeah, this game has changed, but not necessarily for the worse. I've definitely moved to playing more casually around the introduction of bridal catria, however, I'm still having fun.

I was an og, started from day 1 to 2nd or 3rd year came back now because i bored and ngl reading the wall of texxt like a yugioh card made me kinda chuckle a little but this game these new units are actually just cracked.
I took a break, came back, found that my strongest 5* +10 unit was mid at best and just quit at that point

Back in the day, without inherit, without a possibility to change members position before a fight, and a lot of older mechanics the game was hard, punitive and boring to farm, but tge arenas were great! In the years to come I become very competitive, and got more than 110 crowns even being f2p.
Now, I use feh pass to farm for me, play arena very casual (with the crazy t21, that wont cut anymore).
Back in the day, I printed a lot of heroes in arena to get ideas for build - now almost every enemy have the same set in t21, another reason to abandon the crown race...
At least I got to build my favs with super duper skills!

Create six different teams and create play any mode at least in lunatic or higher.

I agree with everything you said. There are good and bad things about FEH but the power creep is insane and keeping track of effects is a nightmare. I mostly just let the battle calculator tell me if I kill something or not.
Also, I still can't believe they haven't added wildcard merges at some point.
Played Heroes for a whole year back then.. was super stoked to get Alm and Ike back in the day.. But then I got locked out my account and I never reinstalled lol.. Kinda glad I never got back into it.

Short answer yes is still fun
I have enjoyed the game a lot more since I went casual with the introduction of the AR mode. That seemed to be the tipping point of "is pvp worth it?" to me. I started with the first CYL, and I have taken pauses through-out the game's life (especially when it felt like a chore to play. I think playing three houses during the early days of the 2020 lockdown was more fun than FEH.
I'm totally burned out. I only occasionally play it just to try getting units I like.
I have to say, seeing the new Shadows of Valentia banner come with only 1 new character is pretty saddening, given that we probaby won't be getting much new stuff for that game in a while now.

Great video. However, your voice is on the cusp of being unintelligible sometimes. No fault on your performance because I think your voice is pleasant, calm and has a good tone, it's just an issue with levels. Consider making EQ cuts in the background music (roll off highs and make a cut in mid to mid/highs) to ensure that you dont get lost in the mix. People are here to listen to you, not the music, and its always safer to make the bgm too low rather than too high.

I played in the first year and then quit, even after the first anniversary event I was feeling burnt out with how many dailies it expected me to do.

You're a year one player? Well not to brag, but I have been on the game, generally speaking, for 6 years and damn, has a lot had change.
Yes there exist power creep in the game, just like most gachas. But what makes some of them full on criminal is how certain units are too well rounded. (Especially when you dedicated them to +10 give all Dragon flowers and acended them) You can keep on using them far longer than intended because the game literally made them capable to lasting that long.

As an OG Marisa stan I acutely feel this :[ I can't even login anymore because I might bonk into F!Edelgard for an autoloss and that unit is like 2 years old already? I can't be bothered lol
F Edelgard has already been power crept you will prolly rarely see her now ...... If you run into Gullveig thou say your prayers. She's way stronger than F Edelgard and she there's two of em Brave Gullveig and Mythic Gullveig (which mythic gullveig already power crept S! Edelgard)
In my opinion the truly bad thing about FEH is that literally every character they create now has ALWAYS damage reduction, and that really is a problem. Because then the only thing that matters at the end is how much damage you can lower, and then almost the rest of skills like bonifications, double attack, cancelations skills, and of course to have advantage against armour units or whatever, is simply usuless against a exagerated damage reduction and also exagerated attributes I mean they literally did a unit with 61 of defense without any plus, just on his level 40 has already 61 defense. And the biggest issue then is that if every single charcater has damage reduction, skills on level 4 or arcane weapons that are almost the same what makes this characters uniques, well nothing literally, they all have exactly the same skills but with different names, but It is the f*ckin same, just more and more damage reduction or more attack, and there It is the problem, that the game is reaching a point of no coming back where everyone has the same exagerated skills of damage reduction. The obvious solution for this clear problem It would be 2 points: First they must stop creating broken characters, and give them skills less broken but still good of course like bonifications skills or others. Second and I think most important, bring more legendary byleths basically xd, I mean bringing more damage reduction cancelation skills, on that way the game would turn into a most complicated combat system and a better combat system because then that damage reduction unit we all have wouldn't be able to carry our match and we would need other units with other skills completly different to damage reduction, like skills that give +12 defense or others.
I stopped playing during book 5 after 3 years of playing the game. College started getting tougher, and i picked up Genshin. I just couldnt find it in myself to dedicate so much time to FEH. Of course I still follow the game's updates, finding out who got released, their art etc. I'm upto date on all the memes
Every CYL I install just to pick up my free unit. But I'm just unable to play it. All those memories of doing stupid shit, making idiotic builds, trying to get equal stats on my Itsuki etc. I'll always have fond memories of FEH, all the discussions I had online, looking up guides for tactics drills, Legendary hero battles, grinding out FB
But I don't think I'll ever play again
TL:DR, The game has really come into its own & I think this book is the best version of the game. If you're planning on playing the game very casually & like about a third of the games in the series, it's worth the download for those people. If you've played 4/5 of the games then you might find some things worthwhile for a month or so of play. If you've stuck with it for a long time but haven't gotten too in depth with the mechanics, this is actually a pretty decent time to do so. The game still has some inherent flaws making it somewhat nebulous, like story spoilers, mobile game story, & badly explained mechanics, but if you just wanna see hot waifu jpg fight other hot waifu jpg in the context of fire emblem, then yeah this is a nice casual experience.
As someone who's played every game in the series & this game since launch, I feel like this year is the year that finally made the game "complete" in my eyes. It finally feels like you really can use anyone & everyone thanks to arcane weapons & the new, more skill-focused meta that doesn't rely as much on stat spread. This year for feh actually made me want to build some competitively viable units & finally try out the pvp (though I haven't quite finished building my team for that.) The game actually feels like it's reached its potential from book 1 in my eyes & that's really made me appreciate the prior books a lot more.
Of course I still have my grievances with the terminology for skills, as you mentioned, & I'm really not a fan of resplendents & extra backgrounds being locked behind a permanent paywall with no way to unlock them otherwise. not to mention their insistence on not finishing a game's playable roster for seemingly no reason (I mean if you're just going to add one new playable character per echoes banner anyway, you might as well just add jesse & nomah & have the next echoes banner be for alts & new hero types, would make these types of banners feel much less egregious) but other than that the game has gotten pretty fun outside of most of the extra modes.
Now would I recommend playing this game? Probably not for most people as the game contains spoilers for all games, & all the reading could be very intimidating for new players, & it really depends on what characters you like and if they are even in the game. Like if you hopped on at engage or jugdral or even marth's games this would be a very intimidating game with not a lot of your favorites. I would only recommend it for fodlan, fates, valentia, ylisse and maybe radiant dawn fans, even all these years later, & even then only if you fully intend to not bother much with the pvp aside from messing around with your friends in summoner duels to show how broken the game is. The writing has its moments but overall it's slow to get good & the narrative always comes back to "player shoots gun. They win." But if nothing else I would absolutely recommend taking a look at the art, music, & animations of this game because it's pretty stellar for any kind of fan.

The last time I played FeH was apparently 4+ years ago add another year so 5 because I didn't play for half a year and only farmed daily login Orbs
Main reason why I quit was because I didnt like playing something that wasn't fun for me
Excluding everything I didn't like made the game boring, so I left
TLDR: Powercreep is bad, Long text is good.
I quit about 3 years ago after realizing FEH was a money sink. The gacha system was downright predatory, and it was nearly impossible to do well competitively without regularly spending $50 a month or more. If it weren’t for this, FEH would’ve been one of my all-time favorite games.
Now, if this has changed, I might consider returning. Otherwise, I’ll be waiting for the next fire emblem title.
It's a gacha game it will never change your best bet is CYL and hope they release a good unit that you can get for free ex. Brave Gullveig. And maybe a free unit here and there .. also grail units.
I originally lost interest halway through Book 3, returned for the horse mechs of Book 5, lost interest again after the early chapters of Book 7 and now only play occasionally if any interesting units show up.

I just want my Clarisse to be the strongest in the world. But all this game has done is make it less and less fun, less and less rewarding, and just overall not worth even spending time on the game anymore.
I quite heroes about a year ago, playing heroes genuinely made me feel terrible.
I was a full F2P player who spent 3 years building a single character. I only played Heroes so I could use my favourite characters, and despite the years put into my all time favourites they where still strugging because the new units coming out where that powerful. Ontop of that orbs where almost impossible to come by and because I'm not American orb prices are actually insane
Playing heroes and thinking about how all my hard work was for nothing and how I'd have to drop my favourite units, or worse spend money on the game stressed me out and made me feel like shit. So I just gave up, if my work was meaningless, if my dedication to the game meant nothing, why bother? Until last month I wasn't even able to look at an FE game without remembering Heroes and feeling like garbage, it got so bad that for months I was trying to convince myself that I actually hated FE (which wasn't all heroes fault, I also kept getting exposed to a ton of really bad discourse inside the fandom during that time)
I'm over that all now, I actually replayed Path of Radiance and I'm currently playing Echoes and having the time of my life! I remembered that I love the FE series, so much so I've been considering giving Heroes another shot, mainly for the voice acting, but I just can't commit.
Because of this I can't recommend heroes to anyone, I'm actually in awe of anyone who still plays heroes and hasn't had their perception of FE permanently altered. But good video, and I hope you deal with Heroes burnout better then I did

I practically ignored the competitive side of FEH and my +10 are starting to get outdated by around a year or so ..... However my Gullveigs are carrying me in hard fights (maybe fallen fem byleth too)

I'm pessimistic about the future of feh. Consider this: new banners alone outpower whole years of units. The most cold-headed efficient way to play this game now is to create new accounts every 3-4 months and grind the huge backlog of events to summon the 4 new units that will carry you with ease. The thing is, this strategy works by spending $0, and like it or not, f2p games live off microtransactions. Veterans will eventually hit a wall and leave, and new users don't have a reason to buy orbs. Feh is still one of the most fun gachas out there, but they got too crazy and made it age too fast.

I still remember when this game was announced. Such innocent times lol. I’ve taken some time away from this game a few times, most recently over a year. But last week, I impulsively redownloaded and have been really enjoying myself. Neat coincidence you uploaded this video around the same time 😊 always a good day when you upload, agree whole-heartedly about the state of this game
I've been playing since the beginning, and honestly these days I basically just do a daily log-in. The game's story always felt like it was written for children, and that left me incredibly bored -- plus the power creep and the restrictions on inheritance make it incredibly hard to play the characters you like, unless they're lucky enough to get a new, super powerful alt. If the character you like has a terrible stat line, there's no salvaging them. It's not fun.
I'm just here waiting to see when they will release another Lyn alt maybe not this year cause they release Mark with Lyn as the backpack I dunno if I should consider that at least 1 Lyn per year that comes out.
