    You know those ones that you NEVER got as a kid but now that you’re grown up they seem to happen all the time?

      Well, the yoga position was one that you’re supposed to stretch your shoulder muscle. Your hands and knees, and then you pull your right arm underneath your body and pretty much put your weight on your shoulder and turn your head in the direction of where your right arm is underneath your body. Crazy position. I’ve done it many times, but for some reason I got injured on this one, but didn’t even know it. I blame it on that. Either that, or leaving hot yoga, sweaty, and not being bundled up enough. I try very hard to change out of my wet clothes and bundle up around my neck with a scarf and a hoodie but sometimes I wonder if that’s just not enough. Thank you for your concern. I’m not sure if you could understand the position I was talking about but it’s supposed to stretch your shoulders and I guess you’re back but I think if you’re not careful, he can really mess up your neck and your trapezoid muscles.

    Sleeping wrong is such an act of betrayal. At least with all the other stuff we’re actively doing something. I can’t control what my dumb body does when i’m asleep 😭 i just be waking up and then i’m in pain for a week.

I came to this video because nine days ago I was in immense pain, it's basically gone now but sadly, it took 7 days for it to go away, so if your neck is hurting aswell, put a hot wet cloth on your neck and hope for the best. Or go to a chiro but it will hurt like hell for a couple seconds

    I slept wrong and woke up to pinching pain on the left side of my neck. I have a lot of physical training to do today and these exercises reaaaallly helped! Pinching is at a minimum and I regained a lot of my mobility! Thank you so much!!

    I was woken up by pain in my right neck and upper shoulder area. This isn’t the first time it’s happened either. I really liked the last move with the towel! Also, the chin tuck while tilting my head side to side really helped me be able to stretch without the “bad pain.”

    I have had a whiplash due to a car crash for 4 years now and after having heard from a wide variety of specialists that their treatment wasn't going to resolve my symptoms, I've been trying to figure out ways to relieve the symptoms. I realized I would subconsciously tuck in my chin when going to sleep and with the knowledge I have gained so far I figured finding a way to sleep with an extended neck might prove helpful in relieving my symptoms.

    It started paining when i did some cardio and aerobics, but it was normal for me. Day before yesterday when i slept i woke up with sharp pain in my neck shoulders and upper back. I knew instantly that something really wrong had happened. Than as always desperately came to find streches and did some one else streches that came first in ky search. But i find no relief. I desperately did warm massage, balm massage, muscle relaxers, what ever i can get ky hands on. And than late at night i did your upper back stretches. Which gave me some relief but my head was not comfortable. And now i did your neck stretches. And i have been praying for you since last night. As your stretches videos always help me for any and every kind of muscles pain anywhere in ky body.

    I love how sleeping wrong is an adult injury, but being only fourteen and waking with neck pain makes me think that i am just getting old. But the this really helped it didn't get rid of all my pain and relived much of it. So thank you so much

    That last one with the rotation and towel really helped! I’ve been stretching my neck since I woke up at 6am, and this is the first I’ve found some relief in horizontal rotation. I still need to find some relief for up and down rotation and leaning, but this helped so much! Thanks!

    I remember I had a debate years ago in high school and the morning of, getting ready, one side of my neck tensed up so bad I couldn't look to my right for 2 days without pain and tightening on that side. I remember it would happen every 30 minutes or so and I had to fight it by pulling the other way. It was like my shoulder was playing tug-of-war with my head and using my trapezius as the rope. It went away but man that was a roller coaster. To anyone who has this, it's a ride but a short one, I wish I had this video back then. Thanks Jared!

    Hey Jared i am 17 and a rlly rlly big fan of your channel because you helped me change my life. I have snapping scapula syndrome in both right and left scapula as a result of weak back from overuse and rhomboid muscles and a right shoulder impingement.       And I also learned doing this neck rehab can be a 2-4 day process until fully healed. Also icy hot is crucial to do with the stretches and proper sleep positioning.

    Thanks! This type of pain is something I run into frequently. Normally, from sleeping wrong or using a different pillow than what I'm used to. The dumbest way I hurt my neck was years ago at work. I was demonstrating a dance from the '60s called The Jerk to a younger co-worker who wasn't familiar with the dance. Apparently, I was too old to do the Jerk and hurt my neck during the demonstration. Even funnier, I told a second co-worker, who was closer to my age, what I'd done. She said, "Oh, I remember the Jerk!" I think you see where this is going. She attempted the Jerk and hurt her neck also.

    I went to sleep and got up with a pain in my left shoulder, in the areas you just show. It intensified, and now to my right which took me to ER, with no relief. Took MRI, no relief. 1 year later, I am still in pain. Not as bad as before. I took all the injections even from Orthopedic Dr's. Now I just try to live with it and pray.

    I can't believe this actually helped. Pain is not completely gone but It's definitely better. I strained my neck during stretching. I turned my head from one side to another and felt a sharp pain and felt completely immobile, and not just the neck, i couldn't move any part of my body without feeling this pain.
    I watched this video and I went to get my heating pad and I couldn't even bend enough to plug it behind my bed so went to the kitchen plug and did it.
    Anyway, just after 20 minutes, I feel better now 🥺.
    I live alone so it was very difficult. Thank you 🙏🏼
    Update : it was temporary for maybe half an hour. It definitely did help for a short while though

    What kind of sorcery is this! I cannot believe how much my pain has faded in the hours since I did these stretches. Thank you times a million. I was hit by a drunk driver 17 years ago which herniated 3 discs in my neck (c6,c7,t1) and occasionally I feel an electrical shock down my neck and it becomes frozen. I did this stretches and I’m nearly pain free now

    Oh my god. This helped a lot.
    I woke up with stiff neck. Some movements/postures triggered stabbing pain. I was scared to make any movements.
    I followed your instructions and the pain has decreased a lot.
    Couldn't do the 1st exercise well. So, I did it very lightly.
    Completed all exercises and my mobility increased like a charm.
    I can now rotate my neck even to the painful side.

    I hope you live a long happy and pain free life doc. You helped me a lot, the tension and the pain went away yesterday and it also got better.
    Today it came back in the morning so I did the excerises again and thankfully I was able to move my neck pain free again.

    First day I got to Greece I slept on the futon my sister had put out for me with the worlds HARDEST pillow. Woke up unable to turn my neck left. First day and it really set the tone for the weeks to come. Thank you brother I can now enjoy my vacation.

    I can’t believe how the timing of this video and what’s occurring in my neck and trapezius are correlating quite well. I did a yoga pose on Saturday in yoga, hot yoga. No problems the rest of the day but Sunday morning when I put my bra on to go to church, and church. I could feel my trapezoid muscle getting tighter and tighter, and I was aching, spinning my head around, trying to loosen it up or untighten The muscle. It’s now Thursday and I’m still having this problem. Putting lots of products on my shoulder, like Voltaren and icy, hot and Biofreeze and heating pads and asking for somebody put their elbow in my trapezius muscle. No good has come from that yoga pose. Anyway, I hope your tips helped to alleviate my problem. Oh also, 800 mg Motrin.

    Today, i had this pain when i woke up. I scroll down neck stiifness relief videos and no one help. Then i found this video and tried as you explain.     I slept wrong and it’s ridiculously painful!! I cannot turn left… it’s a sharp pain but then feels like it’s starting to cramp in pain when I turn too much to my left, it’s miserable!!

    I just got a stiff neck or neck pain for the first time after sleeping on my neck wrong. And when I woke up I had a tough time getting up. I never got neck pain before but it is no joke. It's something that can affected your day. Thankful the 1 stretch exercise (Levator Scapulae) and 3rd stretch exercise (Extension Mobilization) help ease the pain. I feel a little bit better now and will continue to do those exercises.

    This armpit stretch at 3:00 I find has destroyed people - esp those with EDS or who have a slight Cervical Instability (That they don't know of) - and literally bed-bound them.
    - What I notice is that it's not easy to do this stretch correctly, and some pull too hard on the junction of the Occiput and can tear the or over pull the Posterior Membrane of Skull/C1

    omg this actually worked i woke up this morning and my left side hurted really bad to the point i couldn't turn to my left side i might of slept wrong but trying this helped me a lot now I can turn more than I used to thank you very much

    I had a few nights in a row of pain in the right levator scapule muscle and its lingered for almost 2 weeks. I could feel my arm go numb a little when I'd roll my neck on it. But it's getting better, thank you🙌

    i woke up and didnt want to wake up so i just layed down, then i got into some random pose and i move my head and hear some sound then i get up but i can’t move my neck to the left, down, or up. In the video he mentions doing streches on the pain side, well i cant because it hurts way to much

    it hurts to do the exercises sort of like a big annoying painful pinch inside my skin onto the muscle it hurts on one side and i cant adjust my neck in its normal state becuse it hurts i think its because i sleep with multiple pillows and it damaged my neck and i think its a muscle overlaping another muscle i tried doing these exercises it just gave me a little pain and now i got a little bit less pain but it hurts alot when i look directly down and up completely

    Really appreciate this. I'm usually a side sleeper but after getting bitten by a dog on the forearm (and needing to get quite a few shots in either arm), I wasn't really able to sleep on the side and woke up with a sore neck after tossing and turning all night, and sleeping in uncomfortable positions that didn't bother either arm. Considering I'm still bruised and cut up from the dog bite and the shots (as well as the ones upcoming), it's nice to have something that can at least take some of this pain away.

    As soon as I woke up on a Sunday morning it was this strange feeling in my neck when I turned it ,I thought it would go away once I fully got up to start my day but it didn’t . I think I’ve slept wrong it , itis on the right side of my neck , it’s stiff and painful. This video helped I recommend if u have some kind of pain in your neck.!

    I was talking to my dog bent over and tilted my head then bam! Sharp pain in the neck! It was so annoying but after watching a few RUclips videos on how to stretch it it feels better! 😅

    My injury was a series of actions. Day 1: unloading a heavy grocery bag (packed by husband) from car and shock loaded my left side. Day 2: I did an exercise class that featured mostly upper body. Day 3: slept in the wrong position (on back with head turned to right). Not my normal position. Day 4: So much pain, had to get help dressing and the day went downhill from there.

    i got my neck pain after the air fryer slipped from the kitchen island i tried catching it and i noticed the glass coffee getting struck so in a microsecond life or death decision i decided to go for the glass cup, in this intense action scene i have saved the glass cup but the air fryer bucket oil and nugget crumbs got distributed evenly on the carpet and for the neck pain i actually just got it from scrubbing the carpet clean with a sponge

    Mine was from sleeping at a strange angle passed out from the heat and my neck was not leveled with my pillow so I woke up with pain on my right side of my neck

    That's a great mobilization at the end. Sometimes it seems like my problem is I can rotate my neck and especially my back further than most people. It seems like I can't get a stretch until I'm either folded over or rotated 180°.
