Throwing / Making a Pottery Tagine Tajine on the Wheel

- My latest attempt at making / throwing a clay pottery Tagine / Tajine on the wheel.
Typically a Moroccan pot I thought I'd try to make one myself.
This one has a taller lid than most but should still work.
The lid is thrown upside down and a knob added to the top later.
The base is a flat dish with a bit of a gallery for the lid to sit in.
The clay needs to be fired quite high if you are going to use it on a stove I think.
Nothing too difficult or technical really just a flat dish and a flared out pot for the top part.

It's so satisfying to watch even though I don't do pottery! LOL

I bet you could make anything! Anything at all! So talented!
Que hermoso trabajo... espero algún día poder hacerlo !! Gracias por sus clases!!
Hey Dan, your videos have been really helpful since i started ceramics 2 years ago. I wanted to ask if you could make a video on how to make small cups with saucers. I have to do a set of cups with saucers and im not sure how to fit them together and keep them uniform easily.
Teacher is beautiful and perfect his work, it is a pleasure to see the beauties he achieves. 👍✔🎖🎖🎖

Very skillful work, and enthralling to watch.
Just spotted this as I was heading to bed and had to watch because it's fascinating seeing you work the clay. That's lovely work, as usual.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
You are a good teacher. You are speaking more too. This helps to explain.
Very nice- you throw beautifully and aso fast!!
I always think maby my new hobby could be pottery then I tried it and I realized you need skill Wich is why I like this chanel it teaches me skilles!
Another good video Dan!
very interesting. How can you not like it? Great job!!!!
I wanted to say thank you for this demo. I threw a tanginess and it is now in use in Ohio.
Brilliant!! I just watched another potter make the lid right-side up, and now I've seen you make it upside down! I can't wait to try to make my own tajine. I keep reading about them being unglazed for cooking, so I may do that. Could you say if it's a lowfire earthenware clay? Thanks so much for all the videos!
I never saw anyone do this and I'm impressed. You have a great touch. I know absolutely nothing about working clay, but you made it look soooo easy (and I know its not)! Nice work!
you should make more of these ,i will buy one this summer when i'm over in ingleton
Bravo. Le tue spiegazioni sono molto chiare, sei di grande aiuto , complimenti.
Very nice shape. Thanks, as always` for sharing :)
I feel like I'm being hypnotised. Wow.
I just made one of these. I threw the top righ-side-up then I threw it your way. Both worked fine.
I was thinking of making this as a closed form but I appreciate your technique
Hi Dan...I have really enjoyed learning with you...would you mind sharing the weight of the clay you use with each of the pieces? Thanks!
Looks to be roughly 4-5lb balls each
I love you're work it cool
Lovely work, as usual. What glaze do you plan to use?
Hello, very good their creations.
Grazing used?
Sir have you added a video where you show the fired versions of the same...
what clay do you use?
Your so nice I hope you get one million
Hello Friend. I would like to know how I can make a clay tagine for induction cooker. It should have a ferro - magnetic base of sweet iron or stainless steel. I appreciate your kind response. If possible, make a video of that work. Thanks from Ecuador
Hi, very nice video. I just have a doubt about the top of the lid. As far as i know, at the top of the lid of a tajine there is something like a cup with no glaze in it. That allow you to fullfill this cup with water in order to keep the food wet even if you keep it over the stove for long time.
You are absolutely amazing! I love ur videos. U make everything look so easy...lol. thanku for posting videos-keep it up! :)
from where you bring the. clay
I got a tagine pot as a present. It is solid but there is no glaze on it. Just on the outside. But that is not good. It must be on the inside. My question must it be glazed for kooking? Can you glaze it afterwards using normal oven at home ? Do I need high temperatures oven? Thanks Reza
Buena idea,, tienes que hacerle el recipiente para el carbón o leña!! me gusto :)
I am so excited that you did this video! You are only one step away from making a yarn Bell. Make a hole in the handle at the top and ditch the rim inside the bottom and perhaps make it a little more bell-shaped and Wham-O you have a yarn Bell. I'm just wondering how you get the hole in the top. I also noticed that every time you apply pressure to the clay on your particular pottery wheel you get a clanking sound. Are you really putting that much pressure on the clay?
Did you glaze it and did you cooked an Moroccan dish in it?
what type of wheel do you have in this video
What do you do with the scrapes? Can you reuse them or will it disolve in the water?
He recycles them and then make either new clay out of it or use it as a base for creating slip. That´s what I´ve seen in his videos so far...
I so want to make one of these. How much clay did you use??
Who else thought there was background music but turns out it was just coming from that pot rotating thing
Lol I was wondering what that sound is
Where’s your accent from, love it!
Vraiment bravo 👍
I lake see your work
Nice size tagine
How much clay have you started with for each piece?
It looks like a brit's queens guard hat not a cooking tagine i grew up with . but good effort. Thanks

Hey youdanxxx, do you think you could move the mic a little closer? I am a bit deaf. I try using the Closed Caption, but it turns your words into cursing words.
