What an all time classic. I wonder if he felt proud about creating one of the best songs ever written? No matter how many years I sing along to this song I still can’t come in at the right time.
I just heard the sad news that Steve has passed away. For 49 years now, a smile appears on my face when I hear this beautiful song. It will always make me smile.
@@NellyGandhella You're wrong on all counts. I bought this single when I was 16. I'm also a Lennon fan. But not a fan of people who hide behind his name anonymously!
This song marked my childhood, a happy memory of which there were few. Sunday 17th March 2024...I just heard the sad news of Steves passing! RIP Steve Harley.
My dad sang this on the tv show Stars in your eyes in the 90’s! Steve was so impressed, he gave my dad his guitar to play on the show and to keep!!! Generous and humble human being. Myself, I’ve been listening to Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel since the 70’s. My first album of theirs, unfortunately I forget the name of but, (where Steve is sat in the huge wicker chair) one of my favourite songs on the album was Sebastian….where the orchestra kick in…Superb album!! Indeed, the loss of another one of our iconic 70’s singers. Sleep peacefully 🙏🏻🕊️
young people today do not understand how much of an impact the release of these records was in the days before the internet and streaming. we would wait each week for the new chart to be released and then to see the acts on music shows like Top Of The Pops, eagerly looking to see whether our favourite record/s had gone up or down in the chart. Everything today is instantaneous - then, we had to wait for stuff.
You hit the nail mate, I remeber saving for my first LP of Queens Sheer heart attack. The music scene is so fragmented now. Still good music been made ya have to search a bit. Try Fontaines DC a great Irish band , Cheers amigo

Shocking news, and very sad. I have been listening to Steve's music all day. I'm an old man. I've lost many loved ones. Family and friends. It never gets easier. Peace to you all.
I was a great admirer of Steve Harley and had the privilege of seeing him in concert on well over 100 occasions over the last 50 years. I even bunked off school when I was 13 to see him with the original Cockney Rebel. He was an outstanding songwriter and performer and I doubt if we will ever see anyone like him again. RIP Steve
Dear all, I bought the single Sebastian in January 1974 as it was #1 hit in Belgium. Saw him the first time in Brussels on 10 March 1976 during Timeless Flight tour (with legendary Arno as supporting act). Afterwards more than 20 times, last time last year 25 April in Leuven. I followed him my whole life, nobody’s music came so close to my heart. Enjoyed his music, enjoyed his concerts. He gave us the best feelings one can have. So sad, but so thankful! All the strength needed to his family. Dirk from Belgium.
Sad to hear of the death of Steve Harley. No one born in the 50s or 60s will forget ‘Come Up and See Me’ a - a seminal single that still sounds fresh today.
Parents need to teach their kids to listen to the old eternally fresh songs and keep them alive. I was born many years after this song was made and been loving it for many years now.
this song still blows me away, the lyrics are personal to him and written with spite and venom at something that happened to him directly before writing it. The bass line is incredibly complicated but they make it seem effortless and mellow. Its a beautifully written and performed song. It really highlights whats wrong with all this manufactured crap being produced in recent years that is just there to make money, not to tell a story. Fleetwod Mac did the same thing as this song did, telling stories and their own personal pain and problems through music and verse. Its amazing
RIP The great Steve Harley- An icon of great music and a memorable song that will resonate with generations to come!! Fairwell...You will live on in peoples hearts and minds!
