This has to be THE definitive version of this song. His voice is much deeper and stronger. How lucky were those people in the audience. I only got to see him once but the memory will last a lifetime. Thankyou and RIP Steve
Never heard this song before his death. Johnny Walker put it on his Sunday show, explaining the history of the song. Love it, and have it on my Spotify playlist now!
One by one the people who gave a soundtrack to my youth are leaving us. I'd forgotten this track until I heard it again on Johnnie walker's show this Sunday. Simply amazing. Too good to have been a hit back in the day, but what piece, what a piece. And what a gent.
@@davehunter2814 it was very under the radar when it was out as a single. Too long and too difficult to be a pop hit and I think it hardly got any airplay.
What a performer and this version of the wonderful Sebastian will sit along my all time favourites. Honoured to have seen Steve perform several times in the past 10 years and will never forget those gigs. RIP Steve and thanks for the music.
I've never heard of him until tonight. This performance has got me frozen.. In awe. Sad i never heard of him. I'm sorry to all of you and his family and friends. My goodness how did i miss him all these years? 😞
There was a pub in Kilburn where this was on the Juke box, I would play it repeatedly, my favourite Steve Harley song, still know all the words. This however is the most beautiful version I have ever heard, thank you so much. RIP Steve.
My dear father ...this is my letter to you..you were the one tha told me about this song..you hugged and me told me a story about a man named sebastian...years later i understood this song..it was you..you were the Sebastian...have a nice time floating in the stars..i love you..never told you...im sorry father iam drank..i cant stand on your grave..sorry father..
Gives me goosebumps everytime. I'm 73. Saw him at the Theatre Royal in Lincoln on Friday 13th May. One of the highlights of my life. Magical. It's like an anthem.
If I had attended this concert in person I probably would have burst into tears from awe and deep appreciation and the pain in my heart from memories of times long ago. Absolutely brilliant ❤
You made me immens happy with your beautiful performances and compositions,Mr.Harley. No gesture, words are enough to express this.I wish you a safe trip to the afterlife,in the harm of your Creator. With love and most respect..R.I.P.x
When a youngster, I bought the classic single, Come Up And See Me, that was fantastic, Sebastian, was the "B" Side, that was so much better and to this day is one of my favourite songs, RIP Steve, you were great and will not be forgotten.
Everybody Called Him Sebastian! This Is The Masterpiece Of Steve. ✏ 🎼 At The Age Of 18 I Interpreted These Lyrics And Translated Steves Words Into German, During The So-Called Matura. Forever I Call Him Sebastian. 😢 Companion Of My Youth, Rest In Peace! 😇
My mother used to listen this and other Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel songs. Now she's gone, withered away by the cancer that consumed her. She never was much of mother, but for me, songs like this are far more precious than all the care and motherhood in the world.
Rest in peace and play forever wherever you are now! Thank you for the music! Music and love are the only things that feed and keep our minds and souls alive.
My most favourite of Steve Harleys and Cockney Rebels many awesome tracks. Haunting and beautiful piece of work from beginning to end. Just…incredible 💯
Auch mich hat man Sebastian genannt...und ich habe dieses geniale Stück mit 21 Jahren zum ersten Mal gehört...und es bewegt mich immer noch zutiefst... wobei ich diese Version am liebsten mag ❤
Saw him at the Winning Post in Twickenham in June 1974. Psychomodo had been released only days before and they played all the songs. Without any doubt the best concert I have ever been to. The original Cockney Rebel, no guitars apart from the bass and Steve occasionally on an acoustic. Absolutely stunning. We have seen him several times since still a star!! RIP
Today was the first time I ever heard this music! Just out of nowhere! I'm overwhelmed! I got goosebumps! What a music! And what an amazing performance this is!
Just heard the tragic news. Saw Steve many times over the years and this song has always been a personal favourite. RIP to a true artist and legend

This has to be THE definitive version of this song. His voice is much deeper and stronger. How lucky were those people in the audience. I only got to see him once but the memory will last a lifetime. Thankyou and RIP Steve
