Brilliant performance of a brilliant song. R.I.P. Paul Jeffreys, who died, with his wife Rachel Jeffreys , at the age of 36 on the Pan Am Flight on the way to their honeymoon, December 1988. Paul briefly joined Be-Bop Deluxe along with keyboardist Milton Reame-James just after both leaving Cockney Rebel.
I love this song. The song accompanied me throughout my life without ever really understanding it. And again we have lost a really great one, rest in peace.
After nearly 30 years without listening to it...thank to this video, I am able to enjoy this masterpiece again.....thank you man. Good memories are the best gifts to give away.
Love this song. One of my all time faves. Saw them live. Sheffield City Hall in 70's. When Music was Music. Played none stop for 3 hours with no support band. Great memories
Radiate simply, the candle is burning, so low for me Generate me limply, can't seem to place your name, cherie To rearrange all these thoughts in a moment is suicide Come to a strange place, we'll talk over old times we never smile Somebody called me Sebastian Somebody called me Sebastian Work out a rhyme, toss me the time, lay me, you're mine And we all know, oh yeah! Your Persian eyes sparkle; your lips, ruby blue, never speak a sound And you, oh so gay, with Parisian demands, you can run-around And your view of society screws up my mind like you'll never know Lead me away, come inside, see my mind in kaleidoscope Somebody called me Sebastian Somebody called me Sebastian Mangle my mind, love me sublime, do it in style, So we all know, oh yeah! You're not gonna run, babe, we only just begun, babe, to compromise Slagged in a Bowery saloon, love's a story we'll serialize Pale angel face; green eye-shadow, the glitter is outasight No courtesan could begin to decipher your beam of light Somebody called me Sebastian Somebody called me Sebastian Dance on my heart, laugh, swoop and dart, la-di-di-da, Now we all know you, yeah!
"We're not gonna run Babe, Cause we've only begun, Babe". Rest In Power, Steve Harley.
The violinist was superb and added to an already classic rendition. Marvelous operatic performance by Harley.
Just thinking the same
Only saw them once, the last CatK at All Cannings in 2021. How ironic it was to raise money for cancer. Fabulous performer. RIP Steve.
RIP Steve Harley - thank you for this epic and magical song ... Still gives me goosebumps after all these years ...
The number of very differently arranged live renditions of this masterpiece of a song never fails to amaze me. And they are all so great!

Amazing is too small a word. The song captivates the gargantuan in between time and space.
