Very creative. Thank you for sharing mate! I'm a TFAR user, but this could be a nice feature for players not using ACRE or TFAR. Keep it up!
My community uses a radio script, too. We have added several custom channels for long range communications. In order to facilitate operations larger than platoon size, we needed multiple command nets. Ours has radio noises, but no distance effects, and our radio noises are slightly superior, but we added them into the mission file from outside of the game, which bloats the mission file. Your script definitely has some great ideas that has my wheels turning now...
I think we are definitely going to pull sounds from in the game like you, in order to reduce our mission file size. I don't know how I feel about the floating radio, but the static and distortion effects are friggin awesome. Great work, man!
depending on your coms layout for most uses and even milsim uses this with stock arma should be able to create the multi channel system your looking for? (or at least im hoping before i add it to my groups relatively small mod file). group stays withing the arma squad system, and command i do believe is ftl/sl's and other command elements only. and even if its not you can disable all but direct and group for the basic infantry and itle act as short range squad radio, and enable command for command elements, dunno if this block hearing as well.
Personally I would like Phronk to add a custom sound option - he's done the hard work already pulling vanilla sounds into the script - so adding a configurable toggle in script for mission makers to add custom sound would make this a must have script imo. Very useful for public servers and new players.
Incredible. Well done, thank you for sharing.
Pretty cool man! Good job.
WOW THANK GOD
Outstanding job, well done
Good Job Frankie!
Nice and Good Scripts mate :)
Thanks dude!
THANK YOU !!!!
Phronk it would be fantastic if you could add a custom sound option - you've done most of the hard work already pulling vanilla sounds into the script - so adding a configurable toggle in script for mission makers to add custom sound would make this a must have script imo. Very useful for public servers and new players as you mentioned. Custom sounds required for this script would generally be very small - so won't bloat mission files.
Awesome work! Will give this a try.
*Nice-to-have-request* - would be nice if there was an animation (left hand to left ear or left wrist to mouth... when using radio), instead of radio appearing/floating on screen.
Perfect Dude it's Very creative Thanks for sharing
awesome
good video
Hey Phronk, might I ask you how to make the ranges of the different channels bigger? I first used your mod today, and I'm curious about the ranges because for maps like Atlis they're too small. I've tried to change things in the scripts, but nothing worked. Now I ask you, if you might tell me how to change it or if there is a easier way to do it. I'm waiting for your answer. :)
First, I’m loving the mod! But is there a way to have the comms come thru my headset instead of the game audio.. for example when I’m in a normal Arma mission & I talk without tfar everyone speaks thru my headset.. same with when using tfar.. I would like this to do the same.. also, when I’m n a vehicle I have Vehicle comms but ONLY for the first time I press the key, every time after it defaults to general comms (same as pressing caps lock).. it’s strange
superb idea! i like the idea of a long range channel maybe for group leaders only?
I plan on writing a radio interface to switch to custom channels that will allow this; Command Channel seems bugged in ArmA.
FrankieHustla well regardless has to be one of the coolest Original ideas I've seen come out in a long time
Hi Frankie, this script looks awesome! Quick question: is it possible in script config to hide/disable the screen hints and/or the client-side radio item popping up?
Also: Side Channel could work nicely as extreme range emergency radio, if you perhaps just give it infinite or map-wide range with a preset medium radio static.
Command Channel should work just fine for long range radio if you implement that, just know that ONLY group leaders can speak to and hear each other in there.
Thanks for this awesome script ! Any chance to run this on a Altis Life Server ? I tried, got no scipt issues but the effect and radio wont pop up and work like standard. May someone got a hint for me ? Best regards
Would be amazing if it was a mod instead so could easily be added to any missions without having to edit the mission (which in several cases breaks it).
Hi! Installed it on wasteland as it is written in documentation. When pressing caps lock appears in the radio when I release caps lock, the radio is not lost! Help video example of how to connect the script for wasteland. Wrote through translator sorry.
Mods like Wasteland and Life usually block the usage of the remoteExec command, which breaks the script completely. I've never used the Wasteland mod or worked with it, so I have no idea how to add the compatibility.
Hello! Been able to use this Script on our KP Liberation game. Was just wondering, can their be a feature where we can leave the Direct Communication always on? leaving only the Radio use for Push to Talk? Cause it would be a blast to just leave the Direct Comms always open! :) Thank you!
That's probably the top request with the radio script right now. I'll consider it for sure.
Can you tell me how did you get 120 Fps? the settings that you used?, currently using i5 8600K, 8 Gb Ram 3200Mhz and 1070ti AMP Extreme.
Is there a way to allow pre-recorded announcements for missions and will nearby players hear your radio messages too?
Soundboard, or voicemeter with virtual cable to redirect sound from recording app
Hello how to configure it ? im dont know how to bind this radio or something ( im downloaded this script from workshop steam) please help
Can you please tell me how to install it. I feel like I'm missing something.
Download it via the BI forums thread, which is linked in the description of the video. There should be installation instructions in that thread and in the included readMe.txt file.
Holy shit
We want to try this out on our server. Question on radios, if you jump in a vehicle/aircraft does the range increase?
At the moment, vehicles do not increase the range of radios. I'd like to include that in a later version, though.
Can you include that soon? We'd love to push it to our community.
No promises; it's a bit more complicated than you'd think, but I'll see what I can do.
Thanks for considering it
Hi, this is random and I'm not sure if I'll get a response. I'm trying to add this to a KP-Liberation mission for me and my friends. Your instruction in the readme are good and to the point. However, when copying the info into the description.ext I get an error: cfgSounds already defined or something. I have combed through almost every file pertinent to the mission and I don't see where it has been defined. Is the description.ext the only file where definitions are set? Any ideas what I'm missing? Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Liberation may be one of those missions that, for whatever reason, defines their sounds in a CfgSounds .hpp file somewhere. Mine is designed to be inserted into the description's CfgSounds because it is more general/universal that way. Try to search for any .hpp files in the Liberation mission folder and find the CfgSounds stuff. You could technically put the AFAR CfgSounds stuff in there also once you find it, but would just have to make sure you set the filepath of the sounds correctly to that file's (The Liberation's CfgSounds file location, wherever the hell they put it).
PS: May release an update for AFAR soon. Will do another big update that reintroduces distance factors (Right now, due to VOIP limitations, it doesnt factor distance) after Arma 3's next main branch update; BI / Dedmen is adding a command that will let me do it effectively as I had envisioned in this video, and better.
@@FrankieHustla Well that was a quick response. Thank you! I will look through the .hpp files. This mod is perfect more for me and and my group. Best of wishes to you!
@@JohnRayMitch Hey man, I'm having the same issue like you when trying to add AFAR to a KP-Liberation mission. Did you achieved to make it work? cheers
@@Sergeant_Camacho I've gotten it to work half way. The radio works in terms of being able to pull it up and manage the channels but the sound effects are not. I'm working on figuring out the header file for the audio. When I get it going I will post here how to do it.
@@JohnRayMitch OK thanks for the info. Also I was digging into the files and folders of KP-Liberation searching for the CFGsound class and I think I found it in ui/liberation_titles.hpp.
+ArmaPhronk I tried adding the required files to my mission and it didn't work.
i had a friend join the server and it still wouldn't work. Do i need to assign a Key for talking over the radio ?
I love the idea, but how to make a permission to where only squad leaders can talk on command, and no one else can. Im having a lot of difficulty on finding a script or directions to do so. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could help me.
It works like that by default, but I think Dynamic Groups can allow anyone to talk in Command. It's a weird buggy channel but works fine (For the most part) without Dynamic Groups.
@@FrankieHustla are you any good at scripting? i need someone to help me with some scripts.
I'm looking through the files and I can't find a way to make the Command channel accessible to all?
cCH=[true,true];
That should be the setting in the CFG.sqf
If not, then maybe I made more progress with the script since the last release and need to update it.
Sorry for asking a lot but is there a way to increase the range to inf.?
Unfortunately, no.
nice. is there a way to disable the radio popping on screen?
In the CFG.sqf, set "r_3DR=TRUE;" to "r_3DR=FALSE;"
Thanks bro I will leave it on.
Hello! Is there any way to turn off the radio? Once I use it I can't get back to direct chat again unless I restart or die.
Also forgot to mention, this is for direct com.
No. You must set a separate keybind for PushToTalk Direct Channel to speak in Direct Channel, while PushToTalk allows you to talk in whatever channel you're cycled to.
@@FrankieHustla thank you
Nice, where can we get the script ?
Download link has been added to video description.
Hey, can i get this running on a life Server? Greets
Unlikely, since big mods like Life, Wasteland, Exile, etc. prohibit the use of the remoteExec command outside of the mod itself.
You must be from the future, because you have a PC? capable of running arma 3 at more than 150fps
Also, what is the shortcut to teleport on map (in mission editor)
I think this script would be far more popular if it wasn't distance effected.
My PC specs are in my channel's "About" section. I have some of the best hardware and run the game on Ultra on average FPS between 40 to 90 in multiplayer, depending on what's going on. I've seen it reach almost 200 FPS in Takistan. /flex
I agree that it would be a good idea to make the distance effects optional on the mission designer's end. If it's easy to implement, I'll add a setting to allow that.
Below 60 FPS? Maybe if there's a lot of AI or I'm on a server that allows people to load any mod they want, but on my server I'm usually above 60. It's usually around 74 FPS in combat.
Mate can I use your script in a game mode? You will be fully credited, but we may ask for donations on our server.
Go for it!
How are you getting 120+ FPS!?!? You should post a guide on that! ;)
I may do a more up-to-date "How to Optimize ArmA" video in the somewhat near future.
That would be awesome!!!
WHAT is this sorcery?!!
