I've been watching ARMA3 self made missions for ages and decided to buy it. I've been unable to figure how to make my own missions, until now that is. Big thanks to YOU, Operator Drewski.
As an 80's kid, I played with good old OFP and we had to use the original badass editor to make missions with codes, scripts (some even took days to make). Those were the days...
The funny thing is, the scripts and editor largely havent changed (the 3d editor was a godsend in arma 3 though, I remember the days of placing assets and having to load into the game a billion times to get everything placed right). I've had a script inventory saved since ARMA1 and they all still largely work.
I know this is old, but we’re getting back into Arma, and this was invaluable. My tram have no idea I’m setting us up a server to play on, so I’ll definitely be utilising this. I just hope there’s some way to automate reinforcement entities based on progression or something. Like killing 50% all those troops you placed would cause a reinforcement wave or something.
The worst thing you can do in tutorials is use hotkeys, i have no idea how you left the mcc zeus mode thing. and please next time, if you can make sure we can see your mouse.
@@Emre-mh3fr I just figured out you press Y after you are spawned in to enter/ exit zeus. I hope this helps. I was trying to use the Eden editor and was confused when none of the Ares stuff showed up under modules.
Drew ski, I have benefited from many of your tutorials since discovering Arma and MP in my 7th decade. However, this tutorial emphasizes the major flaw in many of your productions. SLOW DOWN! Your extensive knowledge and experience causes you to quickly breeze through complex procedures and information. You forget how ignorant people with less experience are, and take a lot for granted. Many of the details that have long been assumptions for you, breeze right over the heads of us, the noobs. Unfortunately, tutorials with this level of complexity require a lot of boring detail explanations for the less experienced. Keep up the great work, but remember, many of us are quickly left in your dust, in spite of your good intentions. It’s all about your technique.

ItsAres you can modified the accusary the diffecelty the tactics you can edit and create your own AI on sp but in mp you will see dumb peapole just jumping and crouching all the time and see around and the animation in mp is so fast becase player do things faster so its stupid when you see peapole prone and turn faster .
Air Shark Well, i cant speak for all units out there. But the 15th MEU uses a mod that improves the AI's tactics. They actually take cover, suppress, flank, etc.
@@mrshark8094 are there any mods that add civilian plate carriers? Ones that offer good protection but also look like they are bought by a civilian. The vanilla ones don't offer good protection and all the ones on RHS all have camo.
There's some great advice in this video man... i myself loved making missions and zeus-ing in them for my unit (man those were good ol' times) and zeus + ares are the way to go. We didn't really use MCC because we didn't feel the need for it with the zeus + ares combo but we totally agree it's a great mod. New wanna-be game masters and mission makers, take notes from this guy ;)
Coud you please tell me who is the author of the MCC mod? I've seen several MCCs on the Workshop and the one I am using is MCC 4 sandbox. Don't know if that is the same as Drewski's

You could start by scouring the web for real missions that have actually been done and 'port' them into ARMA3. I'm a noob to ARMA3 and it's something I will be doing to give me some ideas as well as just plonking a base down somewhere and having SAM sites dotted around as well as a few C-RAM's and maybe a few dug-in tanks and cannons. Yeah, that maybe overkill but I'm just starting...
Drew I'm trying to follow your exact movements however it's impossible. At just after 9min, you open the MCC from in game (I can do that) and then all of a sudden.... you're out of the overall MCC and into an editor but you don't specify AT ALL how you got there. I can't figure it out for the life of me. It's driving me crazy! I put down the ammo (cargo net) and I have to manually delete all the stuff in there but then I have no setting to make it a VIS in the Eden editor.... how in the heck do you get to where you are at 9:15...
Ok... so in order to get it to work I had to put down the game master icon and link my player to it. Now I can finally get zues to open up with "Y" but when I place my cargo net, I can empty it but when I double click on it I do not get the same window you get at 9:26. Do you have a special mod for that too? Could you please link all the addons you have so we can actually follow your tutorial vid pls?
I'm able to get everything configured as he is showing but I'm unable to make it save so that it's all there when I go back to play. Any help with that?
^Bump: This Not only would I like to set up a server for a cpl friends, but I would also like to set up a persistent mission in which I can save inventory and progress to jump in/out of, for an RP series I want to make.
Drewski will def. be able to show you guys how to host your own server to lay with friends.. creating a server that keeps persistent inventory and stuff is a little bit more confusing
I'm gonna need to get these mods, I tried making a mission where we assault a town that's heavily defended however I couldn't get my ac-130's to engage targets and that was what I was most looking forward too hahah
Hey you should do a full desk setup like your computer it's specs and all your gear and stuff (Head Track, Monitor, Rudder Pedals ect) I think that would be cool
this was amazing please make a part 2 or an advansed version of this. it was really helpfull. there is some things i would like to know. like AI difficulty level multiple reinforcements LZ's for different types of reinforcements. also maybe how to automaticly give orders to the droped off reinforcement once they get to rally point. love your arma vids keep it up.
Thanks for this, I just recently got arm 3 witch Ive been wanting to play for awhile. and the editor seems fun had no idea what i was doing but this helped a lot!
Just bought Arma 3, aside from the meh performance, the editor definately is a wonder for map creators, I absolutely love it. hope they fix the performance, it limits the playerbase even more
Whenever I make a map for any game I always have a reason for why theres a bunch of enemies to be there such as if there's a high value target, important vehicle etc. It's something you should do

As someone with 3600 hours making missions in the editor both 2D and 3D, I would suggest AGAINST what drewski says about using mods ESPECIALLY MCC. That MCC is a jumbled pile of messy code,poorly optimised and you WILL run into issues making missions if you use it... one such is that your editor created WPs will break. Just learn to use vanilla assets,look at how real militaries solve problems tactically and strategicallly and build a mission based around the same thing. Keep things simple,its easy to get bogged down in the editor... Keep ,it,simple.

Nathannator Arma 3 is optimized horribly. It’s normal for it to run like that. Especially since it’s not designed for mass combat situations

Drewski could you post some of your past missions on to the steam workshop? Would love to play a couple of your past operations like wildfire etc.

I don't play MP much(because got kicked a lot due to my ping), so I create SP scenarios to play (forever) alone.

Air Shark And no, the animations are not faster in mp lol. It may appear that was because of lag, but the animations are the exact same.
So when I get Arma 3 what mods do I NEED?
- The 4 CUP mods
- The 2 RHS Escalation mods
- Ares?
- MCC?
What else?

I'm having the same problem trying to open the [MCC] edit storage box, double clicking is just opening the standard edit contents window.

Just go to server browser switch it to Internet and set a password. You can save the missions as you go.
