I used to think that, then One Piece almost made me cry multiple times haha. I have never come close to crying from any movie or anything only when someone dies, but One Piece got a tear or two out of me haha. It's in no way childish it will make you think about life and your real friends are and how far you would be willing to go for those close to you. One Piece makes you want to go try harder in everything and become the very best at whatever you do no matter what. One Piece is amazing!
I am at the episode 569, and the only time i had this feeling was when Nami was trying to erase the tattoo on his left shoulder ! Naruto made me feel like crying a lot 🙄
It gets increasingly epic as time goes by. There are certain events throughout One Piece which sparks quite a few VERY serious fights. Though you should not look into these as they will spoil everythin on epic proportions. Even at the latest episodes Luffy is still joking around, but serious fights happen A LOT more often now, and fuck me they are epic.

Even if you live your whole life without friends you'll find one who really respects you, and 2. It showed me that when everything is going downhill and there's seems like no other option keep fighting even if the odds are against you because you should never give up

the thing that makes the two completely different is the content, art style, ideas, and many times the messages behind the whole thing. other than the basics that you listed that have no real pertinence to the type of media that a show belongs to, CARTOONS AND ANIME ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!
He didn't say that cartoons sucked :3 He just said that anime shouldn't be grouped with cartoons, (American cartoons, likely) which I can understand. American cartoons tend to be made with children in mind, while anime is made for all age groups. Of course, there are exceptions, but I'm just speaking in general here. Mind you, I DO like American cartoons; I just recognize that the shows that I like are 'kids' shows.
I agree with those cartoons you said were good, i enjoy them too (except redwall, that made a mockery of an epic book), but there are many 'anime' that have those qualities as well: Soul Eater, Hellsing Ultimate, Full Metal Alchemist/Brotherhood, Sword Art Online, Death Note, Code Geass (part 1+2), and those are just the tv shows that I like that fall into your category.... But regardless, why not just watch it? Doesn't matter where it came from or what the style is, if it's good enjoy it!
