Same for me I've beat all dead risings back to back now since the beginning of '22 lol I fucking love the nostalgia i get from this game. So many elementary and middleschool memories that were unlocked from playing it again.

Your dedication to Dead Rising 1 is quite astounding. I still hold DR1 with such reverence because of its atmospheric presence. Something the sequels all failed to recapture in my opinion.

I feel Frank looked kinda like he did in Off the Record, older and rugged, also like you said in the past the "Zombys" used to look very deadly and kinda frightening, i wish they kept them.

5 grade summer (like 2008) my neighbor who was a retired army EOD guy let me borrow his Dead rising because “great games like this are few and far between” I remember getting hyper spooked when it turned to night and the zombies got red eyes. I’m ashamed to say it scared me to the point of not finishing it lol

I played Dead Rising at E3 2006 and it was the reason I bought an Xbox 360. My gaming white whale is an unbroken level 1 saint perfect game. I had it in my grasp but got grabbed by Larry and died. I've bought this game so many times. Xbox 360, PS4, XB1, PC. I have the High Stakes Edition of DR2.

I still think what we got was 100% superior to anything they have showed prerelease and I was one of the people waiting and hyping for the game before it came out on 360. The final game just blew all of the trailers out of the water

The TGS demo was always a fav for me, mainly because Zombies were actually inside the stores & mostly - Frank let go of his camera! Especially for the shotgun animations!

Maybe the blue health bar was supposed to be used as health for vehicles? Considering how the convicts vehicle existed back in 2005, maybe this would show how badly damaged the vehicle was before it crashed, or it was just a different color for health, kinda like pre-e3 0.50.

Samuel Jurado i remember when dead rising 2 was first announced, chuck had a slightly different design. one of the first pictures they released showed his hair as flat instead of spiked up, like it is in the final game.

Looking back at this video, you never know man. It's possible. An early prototype of Sonic 3 was leaked as the game was being reworked into two parts. Just need to keep searching.

Its gonna be real hard to find an intact 13-14 year old demo disc or compiled build that was probably taken and filed away by either a capcom employee or some general warehouse operative at the tgs event.
If it hasn't just been trashed its either in the form of a disc in the hands of someone who probably can't speak english or the build is buried in capcoms internal files somewhere.

8:53 The only thing I can speculate about the blue health bar is that it was suppose to be extra health you gain from leveling up (like having two health bars).
We have footage of players filling their health bar, but it doesn't seem to display a blue block during this.

Perhaps the Blue blocks overlapped the red boxes when your health upgraded instead of extending the life bar anymore?

You should do a video on the maintenance tunnels details and it's history. It seems like you might have enough content to do so even if the video is short.

*E3 '05 would likely be the more interesting build to dig into but the TGS hud is definitely mouth wateringly good and seeing an early north plaza might hold some interesting secrets.*

Hey Stip0, the blue HUD bar is used I think. When Frank takes damage it like flashed blue ever so slightly. I actually also just noticed it only does this in the Japanese version.
It's quite surprising how they changed such a lovely-looking area into an empty mess.
You should do some Dead Rising gameplays Xbox 360 or Remastered, but overall great video

Hey Stip0, I don't know if you have an HD version of the TGS 2005 trailer but I can't find it on your channel(the one in this video looks high quality) if you don't mind me asking, could you post it if you have one?
I have a theory for the blue health maybe it turned blue when Frank eats or drinks items that gave him bonuses like to health, speed and etc.
I just finished Dead Rising 1, and despite it being difficult and a bit clumky, i enjoyed it till the end
it would be neat to have a dynamic hud mod that replaces the hud with the tgs hud in overtime mode.
I think the blue dots of health might be shield health or maybe another 6 blocks of health
I wish i could go into different universes, So i can see different dead rising games all day long :)

Hey STiP0, sorry to bother you again, but I had a question and you are one of the few people that can answer it.
Are the original hud assets for this demo available anywhere, like on the DR website you have linked?
If not, could I possibly get them from you? I'd even be willing to pay you for your time, and I don't need them any time soon. Like it could be 6 months from now and that'd be perfectly fine.
TLDR: In case you are wondering why I'm asking for them, because that'd be valid, I make mods for bo3 zombies. I had an idea while watching this to essentially remake the Concourse section of the mall as a map for bo3. I think using the old hud would be really fitting. Ironically the last map I released was a mall map, it was a remaster from waw custom zombies.

The too long (sorry I ramble... a lot):
I've already had a lot of ideas for a DR1 meets left4dead style mod and have been working on that off and on for about a year now. I even have a bare bones version of the "director" scripted out, but that probably won't be in the DR version of the map. I didn't get inspired to add the DR elements until like 5-6 months ago when I first played dead rising. So i guess you could say it was a l4d mod that evolved into a dead rising mashup haha.
Right now, for the mod, I am using l4d2's hud.
I'm an okay scripter, and I am working on my own version of DRs famous large zombie count, which I think I have figured out how they did it(using drones instead of ai). I just have spent zero time on it since I had my idea.
I already have the wandering zombies(only limited animations ATM because tryarch only made one idle animation, and one walking in circles), reacting to the player running/shooting guns, or just getting too close to the zombie.
I've already scripted a l4d style health system(similar to DR but health bar not blocks) and a DR1 leveling system with simi random bonuses as you level. I also have a continue style respawn system that retains your current level and respawns you at your last checkpoint/"save", or when the entire team goes down. I plan to add options for a fresh restart and a NG+ when the player/team dies as well. I really just have to learn how to do menu scripts, and it's done.
I wrote all that to say, I do have some experience, and I'm not just some random person that will never act on what I say. That being said, this will be a multi year project since I'll be making a lot of models, scripts, etc. Unless I can figure out ninja ripper for once in my life, then I can just rip some models from dead rising and make it more authentic to the DR experience.

Dead Rising TGS much better than original... Yeah everyone still likes the final game but 2005 version always catches your eye and mine as well I don't research as much only look through theories of Dead Rising. i cosplay as Dead Rising 4 Frank only got notice once at a con event :(
